ORAS UU UU "Team Gymnast"

Hi! As stupid as a volbeat may sound, I was building my team around the same Volbeat that a Youtuber Shadypenguinn also did, so this was more of a challenge. Before anyone says anything, obviously there is so much more better than volbeat however again I saw this as a challenge. Here's my team;

[1] As mentioned before, this pokemon is what I based the team around as a bit of a challenge, inspired by Shadypenguinn. [2] For Volbeat, I made it a support due to the useful ability prankster and a surprisingly decent move pool. It also resists some useful types (most of which empoleon is weak to) as an added bonus.[3] Tail Glow and Baton pass are self explanatory - pass a +3 to Mega Sceptile or Empoleon and wreak havoc. Tailwind is to boost the speed of specifically Darmanitan and Empoleon, where Empoleon can sweep with a +3 and Darmanitan can outspend common, fast threats. Seismic Toss is in case of a taunt and also a lot better than Bug Buzz, since it does more damage the majority of the time.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Wish

[1] I chose Vaporeon since it is a strong wall who can not only benefit from a +3 yet also cause useful burns/poisons. It complements Volbeat by sharing no weaknesses together and resisting many of each others weaknesses. [2] Vaporeon has the priority of a wall who can take special hits and also stop physical attackers through a scald burn. It also has the job of passing wishes as a cleric to other Pokemon who are either weak already or are about to take incoming damage through a swap. [3] Toxic is a way to shut down other walls, Ice Beam is coverage in case I need to pass a +3 to Vaporeon, Scald is pretty self explanatory as a STAB and a way to burn, Wish as mentioned is to act as a cleric option to help Pokemon who are either weak already or are about to take incoming damage through a swap

Machamp @ Assault Vest
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Ice Punch

[1] This Machamp is actually based off an old Smogon set. I used to have Espeon here however I needed more physical attackers who can live a hit and also hit hard. Fighting STAB is also very useful [2] This Pokemons role is to survive special hits and attack back. It is also here to provide much needed coverage through attacks and provide another physical attacker. To Volbeat it covers many of its weaknesses as well as covering some of Vaporeons. [3] Dynamic punch is a powerful STAB option, Earthquake is to cover any fire types and electric types that threaten Volbeat and Vaporeon. Bullet Punch is mainly for priority, however it also hits Fairy types and Rock types. Ice Punch is once again coverage that stops Vaporeons grass weakness.

Sceptile-Mega @ Sceptilite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Giga Drain
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

[1] I chose this pokemon as the go-to choice for a +3 pass, due to it's high spAtk and speed. I also needed a better revenge killer. [2] I chose it due to it being so stupidly fast and it's brilliant spAtk. It has good STAB and coverage options and complements the typings of the other pokemon. [3] Giga Drain is for reliable STAB and a way to recover, Dragon Pulse is also for STAB damage to complement the +3, Focus Blast is for coverage and a way to handle Steel types, Ice types and Dark types and most importantly Heliolisk, that threaten the team. HP Fire is a way to handle similar types plus Whimsicott with the added bonus of being 100% accurate.

Darmanitan @ Choice Band
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Superpower

darmanitan.gif

[1] I chose Darmanitan as it has a high Attack stat and I needed a powerful physical attacker who could destroy walls (note: this set OHKOed a Rotom-H with Defense investment with one Flare Blitz in the past) [2] Its role is to be a wallbreaker who can also sweep under certain conditions. With a Tailwind from a Volbeat, this thing is outspeeding and killing most things. It also has fantastic coverage. [3] Flare Blitz is great STAB that kills most walls. Earthquake is more coverage to aid Sceptile, Vaporeon and Volbeat. Rock Slide is a way to flinch and counter flying types that threaten the team. Superpower is for fighting coverage in case Machamp faints and to counter empoleons/umbreons

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Flash Cannon

empoleon.gif

[1] When looking for a last slot I needed a good fairy resist that can also benefit from a +3 as well as set up rocks. Empoleon fits the bill well. [2] Empoleons role is to set up rocks and also resist common threats (e.g. Beedrill-Mega) [3] Scald is a sold STAB, pretty self explanatory, Stealth Rock is good to stop the glaring flying weakness on Volbeat, Machamp and Sceptile. Ice Beam is once again coverage for Salamence and Noivern and finally Flash Cannon is a solid Rock type coverage and a way to stop fairy types.

Thanks, please tell me what I should change (apart from replacing Volbeat, who is the "challenge" of the team)
