I have always wanted to try making a UU team because there seems to be more variety. I think I have made a decent team, but of course, I can't really get it to reach its potential without your help so please give advice/comments. Thank you.
The team as a whole: After looking through the team it become a bit obvious that the central strategy is to cut the opponent down with a status condition (the main one being sleep) and then either setting up for an attack or switching out.
Quick Note: This team was made strictly for UU only.
Ninetales @ Wide Lens
Flash Fire Timid Nature
252Spe 252 SpA 4Hp
-Hypnosis
-Fire Blast
-Energy Ball
-Nasty Plot(new)
This guy makes for a great lead due to his decent speed and variety in attacks. With wide lens, hypnosis has a better chance at connecting. That allows me to either attack or switch out. Energy ball is for Quagsires mostly, but it can help against other water or ground types as well.
Fire blast is just a basic STAB move that becomes even deadlier with wide lens. I wasn't sure wether I wanted to make Ninetales more of a team player with safeguard, or just be able to sweep with calm mind.
Poliwrath @ leftovers
(He thinks he can sing lol.)
Water Absorb Adamant nature
252Hp 180 Att 76Spe
-Waterfall
-Hypnosis
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
This guy is just a great sub-puncher. He has great defenses and hits pretty hard as well. I know this Poliwrath isn't standard but I feel he does a pretty good job with two STAB moves. Hypnosis allows me to setup the sub and hopefully get in the punch. I put in some speed evs to help him go first once in awhile. Leftovers helps him heal a little bit.
Dunsparce @ leftovers
Serene Grace Impish Nature
252Hp 100SpD 156Def
-Headbutt
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake(new)
-Thunderwave
Dunsparce is simply AMAZING. I believe he is just underestimated. His serene grace works wonders with headbutt. I chose thinderwave over body slam since its a guarantee. While the opponent is paralyzed I can set up a stealth rock. This guy has the role of primary status inducer. Come up with a thunderwave, annoy to death with headbutt and do it all over again when he switches out. I wasn't sure as to wether I should take advantadge of his stamina with counter or roost. Roost allows him to stay longer, but counter gives potential KO abilities.I spread his Evs more toward his defense since he is more open to physical fighting types and such. Either way, he is a great help to the team.
New:Earthquake seems to be a good decision because it gets rid of those steels that rebel against this slug god lol.
Altaria @ Life Orb
Natural Cure Adamant Nature
252 Att 72Hp 184Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Rush
-Earthquake
-Aerial Ace/Rest?
Simply put, this guy is the Salamence of UU. Ev spread and moveset credit goes to Smogon. This guy makes for a great physical sweeper and the natural cure ability just adds to the greatness of this pokemon. Dragon dance is for the extra power and speed. Life orb is for the extra power. I prefer dragon rush over claw due to its huge power and I figure since hypnosis is based a little on chance why not let Altaria do the same?
I am not sure wether I should use aerial ace to sweep fighting, bugs ect..or make use of his ability and give him rest for when things get messy.
Mr. Mime @ Salac Berry(?! I need help with the item.)
Filter Timid nature
252Hp 104SpA 152Spe
-Hypnosis
-Charge Beam/Barrier?
-Healing Wish/Baton Pass?
-Psychic
This freakish clown is another sleep inducer. I am not sure how his moves will best support the team. I don't really have many pokemon that benefit from a calm mind or a charge beam so I thought healing wish might help for when Mr. Mime is low. I saw that my team lacks a little defense so maybe a batton pass with barrier could possibly help. Either way, it helps i just need your opinion as to what helps best. I chose to keep psychic for potential kills.
Cradily@leftovers(seems to be the most common choice on my pokemon)
Suction Cups Sassy nature
252Hp 100Def 156SpD
-Barrier(new)
-Toxic
-Recover(new)
-Mirror Coat
A decent special wall. It can take a few hits very well. Cradily can toxic stall well too. Mirror coat helps with Kos on special sweepers and stealth rock is there if Dunsparce couldn't use it.
(New): Recovery makes cradily more stable and provides resistance for mirror coat. Barrier is to fight off physical pokemon and toxic helps with that as well.
Thank you for reading and possibly giving advice. Hopefully, my team isn't that great of a dissapointment. By the way, no need to be shy in being critical(as long as it's constructive); I don't mind.
