Hello, my name is rlyn99. Im pretty new to smogon, but i'm a frequent UU player on PO beta and Showdown. This is my first RMT, so be nice :). This team is a pretty solid team imo, but I need some help in a few things, which will be explained later on.
Ladder Peaks: #43 on PO beta, #31 on Showdown.
On to the team:
My team, despite the presence of some defensive threats(Hitmontop, Suicune), focuses on maintaining offensive pressure on the opponent, untill he/she slips up, giving you an opportunity to eliminate dangerous pokemon.
Victini @ Choice Band
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- V-create
- U-turn
- Fusion Bolt
- Zen Headbutt
Victini is one-third of the offensive core of Flygon/Raikou/Victini
Its job, as can be seen from the moveset, is to punch massive holes in the opponents team. Choice band allows it to Boost its average base 100 attack stat to insane levels, and the EVs are pretty self-explanatory. V-create is again self-explanatory, and most of my battles involve clicking it 6-7 times and its gg. Fusion bolt is for hitting bulky waters such as Milotic and Suicune(Although its only a 3hko >:/), and as a neutral attack when up against other victini or weakened enemies. U-turn is for the many switches that Victini forces, and to continue gaining momentum. Zen Headbutt is for secondary STAB and also for its 30% rage-inducing flinch rate.
Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Outrage
Flygon is my main revenge killer, and also for eliminating dangerous boosting pokemon(e.g. Shell Smash Omastar). The scarf lets it outspeed the aforementioned so-called 'Dangerous Pokemon'. EVs are once again pretty self explanatory, and they seek to get optimal speed and attack. Earthquake and Outrage are my main STAB moves, and they get excellent coverage through both of them alone. U-turn is once again to generate momentum for the team, and to scout out the movesets of certain pokemon(Ice punch Swampert, Ice beam Nidoqueen). Finally, stone edge is to punish flying types hoping to switch in on earthquake and using the free turn for set-up.
Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Mach Punch
Hitmontop is my spinner and check to some select pokemon that my team would otherwise have problems with(Snorlax, Umbreon). Lefties give it extra survivability, as Top doesn't get any reliable recovery(Y U NO DRAIN PUNCH?).
The EVs may seem pretty weird at first, but they are for scoring valuable KOs on pokemon such as Cobalion and Curselax. Close combat is my main STAB move to deal with the threats above. Rapid spin is for obvious reasons(HERP DERP SPINNING AWAY THOSE LEECH SEEDERS). Toxic is for crippling certain switch ins to Top( Slowbro, Dusclops, Mismagius). Mach punch is for revenge killing when Flygon is down, or the pokemon outspeeds scarf flygon, and to punish focus sash abusers.
Xatu (M) @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- U-turn
- Psychic
Now we come to one of my favourite pokemon on this team which is Xatu. Xatu is basically a full stop to stall in general, and helps to counter some annoying pokemon(Whimsicott, Sableye). The EVs Help it to survive some insane moves like Stone edge from rhyperior after a Reflect. Light clay is for a 8-turn period of screens, during which I can lay the hurt on the opponent with Vic and Raikou. U-turn is a pretty unorthrodox move for Xatu, but like msot of the pokemon on this team, it helps to lure in pokemon like Raikou and Rhyperior, and then switch to the appropriate counter. Psychic is my main STAB move, and helps in dealing with fighting types like Montop(Stone edge is weakened by reflect).
Raikou @ Choice Specs
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SAtk / 252 Spd/
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
Raikou is the classic speedy special attacker, and with the choice specs, it packs a punishing blow for the opponent. Timid and 252 spattack and speed EVs allows it to outspeed and murder some pokemon like Adamant Aerodactyl.
Thunderbolt is my main STAB move, and absolutely destroys bulky waters and some random flying types. Hpice is for not being completely useless against ground types, and has excellent coverage with Tbolt, forming the fabled BoltBeam combination. Volt switch is important in scouting out the opponent, while still dealing heavy damage to the opposing pokemon. Shadow ball is more of a filler, but is especially useful to destroy Chandelure, and a possible 2HKO on Dusclops.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Scald
- Sleep Talk
Suicune is the last pokemon on my team, but certainly not the least. Its role is as a bulky attacker, but is also used as a counter to the ground types that threaten my team so much. It also plays a role as the sleep absorber of this team. The evs are to survive hits from the physical spectrum, as CM remedies the weaker special defence of this Suicune. Lefties gives it added survivability, as rest renders it semi-useless upon its use. The set is the classic CroCune set, which aims to simultaneously wall the crap out of anything, while still dealing damage to the opponent.
So here it is, my UU team. Rate, Comment and Suggest please! :D
Not sure if I need an importable or not...
