Intro
Once upon a time, in a world ridden with capricious weather and OU whores, one team of UU pokemon retaliates against the norm. Actually, there are probably many teams like this, but this one is mine, and it may need some work. I know this is a UU team, but I want to use it in OU to show that pokemon that are not OU (minus stuff like Victini and Cress, THOSE should definitely be in OU) can stand a chance, so I feel that posting this in the OU area would be best for advice. So please rate it and make some suggestions. Anyway, without further ado, let's begin....

In Depth
Donphan (Male) - Sturdy
Impish Nature (+ Def, - SpAtk)
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpDef
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
Donphan has always been one of my favorite pokemon (PHANPY IS SO CUTE), and it still is, even with the masses of hard-hitting offensive pokemon. It is a pretty generic lead, and this is a pretty generic set. It sets up stealth rocks, spins other hazards away, has earthquake for a pretty good STAB, and uses ice shard for priority. Strudy is pretty useful for making sure stealth rocks goes up before it goes down, and Donphan itself is kind of a defensive monster, so it is not really a suicide lead as it could prove useful later on in the game, even if it is just used for switch fodder.
Quagsire (Female) - Unaware
Relaxed Nature (+ Def, - Speed)
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpDef
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Swagger
- Recover
Quagsire used to be one of those pokemon that was so useless (even with water absorb and electric immunity), I had no idea why it existed (Dunsparce... -.-). But this generation, it has been enhanced. Now it has Unaware, making it a great counter against pokemon that try to set up (on the physical side of course), allowing it to get off a scald for the necessary burn. Earthquake is also there for STAB and coverage. Swagger is pretty neat, cause it makes the confused pokemon take more damage from confusion but allows Quagsire to ignore that stat boost due to Unaware. And Recover is recover. Quagsire, you are no longer useless.
One thing I might do is replace earthquake with Stone Edge. Many a time I have encountered a DD Gyarados with sub, making Quagsire almost helpless. I have earthquake on Dugtrio and Donphan and Earth Power on Nidoking anyway.
Dugtrio (Female) - Arena Trap
Jolly Nature (+ Speed, - SpAtk)
Item: Choice Band
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Speed
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Shadow Claw
IT'S A TRAP. Arena trap is a pretty cool ability to have, and Dugtrio's amazing speed allows it to utilize it to its full potential. Add a choice band, and it becomes a lethal revenge killer. Earthquake for a great STAB, Stone Edge and Shadow Claw for coverage (Rock slide is a potential replacement, Stone Edge misses a lot, but I usually prefer the power since Dugtrio's Atk is not amazing), and Sucker Punch for Priority. Now, if only its defenses weren't absolutely atrocious... I mean, come on, it can't live a hit from anything.
Nidoking (Male) - Sheer Force
Timid Nature (+ Speed, - Atk)
Item: Life Orb
EVs: 4 Def, 252 SpAtk, 252 Speed
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
I remember back in the days of RBY I used to think Nidoking was an absolute badass. Then I realized that its typing made it suck. Now, 5th gen has come out, and Nidoking got much better with its new amazing ability: Sheer Force. Now, his attacks with secondary effects are boosted by 1.3x at the expense of those effects, which to be honest, are sometimes nice to have , but 10% is not really reliable at all. Sheer Force also takes away the effects of Life Orb, which is cool (I like to bluff the scarf, since many of the Nidokings out there are scarfed). It's amazing movepool allows it great coverage, and now, it is my main special sweeper. Now, if only its typing changed...
Gallade (Male) - Steadfast
Careful Nature (+ SpDef, - SpAtk)
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 240 HP, 40 Atk, 216 SpDef, 12 Speed
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Shadow Sneak
Another favorite from 4th gen. Gallade serves as the only pokemon on my team with good natural special bulk, so it is really the only thing that can take hits on the special side, and this set allows it to become a pseudo toxicroak/scrafty. Bulk up raises its Attack and Defense, allowing it to take hits from both sides while dealing more damage. Drain punch is reasonably good recovery, while ice punch is good for coverage, especially for taking out those pesky dragon and flying types. Shadow Sneak is good for priority. I'm really sad that Psycho Cut isn't on this set, but I really don't want to sacrifice any other move for that STAB.
Sigilyph (Female) - Magic Guard
Timid Nature (+ Speed, - Atk)
Item: Burn Orb
EVs: 252 HP, 200 Def, 56 Speed
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Roost
- Psycho Shift
I HATE GOING AGAINST THIS POKEMON SO MUCH, and that's the main reason I'm using it (it's nicknamed "gay" on my team, such a suitable name). Actually, I'm quite surprised that many people don't expect this pokemon in the OU metagame, I mean, at first I thought this thing would suck, but it has been a while since B/W came out, so I would expect differently. Anyway, Magic Guard and Burn Orb makes it a good switch in into any predicted status moves, and allows me to shift a burn onto potential sweepers. Cosmic Power boosts Def and SpDef, and Stored Power makes good use of those stat boosts, making this thing a monster. And if that's not enough, it finds a reliable recovery in roost. And this thing actually outspeeds a lot of things, which is cool. I just hate this pokemon so much... which is why I love it so much at the same time. But it is completely countered by dark types with sub... and scrafty too
Some Things To Note...
- This team is way weak on the special defense side. I have been swept by a lot of special sweepers (Tornadus and Thundurus, ugh...)
- This team is pretty weak to water, I which would be fixed if Quagsire had Water Absorb, but I really don't want to give up Unaware.
- There's no one on this team who is particularly fast besides dugtrio, and that thing cannot live a hit...
- A UU team versus an OU team is very hard to pull off, looking down the threat list there are a couple of (more like several) threats unchecked -.-
Anyway, if you have made it this far, thanks for reading this. Please leave suggestions and rate my team.
