Uxie: the special Dusknoir? Why not OU standard?

He learns CM, Rest, Yawn, and a nice spread of Sp Attacks (Psychic, Tbolt, Grass Knot...). Dump tons of EVs into HP and Def, you got a great special version of Dusknoir.

I guess what I'm saying is: why all the hub-ub about Dusknoir but not about Uxie?

Is it because of Cresselia? Cuz I don't hear much about her either. Uxie does have it's own advantages over Cress...
 
Dusknoir can status a lot of things, and is stronger. Uxie can only yawn, which is only good for forcing switched. And yes, Uxie is majorly overshadowed by cress. And if you haven't heard much about cress, you're weird, as she's now the second best special wall (next to the ever-popular blissey).
 
Sorry about Cress, I guess I just haven't been on enough lately. I just don't feel like I've seen lots of topic titles with her name, at least. And I find the pixies kinda cute... but I mostly disapprove. A trio of the same type, and a type that's already well covered by other pokes? I suppose Azelf has potential as a unpredictable mixed sweeper, and Mesprit is sorta... eh.

But anyway, I guess you're right and I'll have to wake up and smell the roses (and spend more time on the forums). Still, Uxie is so cute and Cress is so freaking ugly...
 
How a pokemon looks doesn't really justify how well it does in battle, though I usually pick from pokemmon that are cool-looking
 
If someone wants to use Uxie, then this one must use Yawn, the only thing he have that Cresselia doesn't.
If Uxie had Ice Beam, I would use him instead of Cress.
 
Oh, absolutely, I know that. It's just, I, like you, prefer to play with my favorites when possible. Luckily, though, most of the OU and BL teir, at least from last gen, looked cool. It's almost like they realize the pokemon they're making is gonna rock.

Oh, also, I want to say that I realize that even if I was right about Uxie, that doesn't make him a "special version of Dusknoir." That's a gross simplification; it's just that I wanted something obliquely true enough that no one would argue but controversial enough that people would enter the topic.

While we're on the topic, lets talk about tanks this gen. 'So, how about that Snorlax, Rhyperior, Cresselia, Dusknoir, Slobro and Uxie?' Let's start with Curselax: still the metagame-changing king he used to be?
 
The thing about Uxie is that it's too outclassed. If you want a wall, you have Cresselia. Only 10 less base Def, but alot more HP and a better movepool.

Of the trio, Azelf is the sweeper, and really has nothing to do with Uxie, so I'll ignore that one for now. Mesprit though, even with less [Sp]Def (105 compared to 130) and the HP is almost the same, but Mesprit is a good Boltbeaming Calm Minder. They're both going to be used as walls, but Mesprit at least gets more offensive capabilities.

They're both about on the same level, but thats why I'd rather use Mesprit over Uxie.
