Haze is the preferred option on Vaporeon, shutting down setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Dudunsparce and Veluza; alternatively, Calm Mind can be used as a late-game win condition. 196 Defense EVs with a Bold nature allow Vaporeon to avoid a 2HKO from Passimian's Close Combat, Choice Band Mabosstiff's Crunch, and Bruxish's Psychic Fangs. Grass-type Pokemon such as Appletun and Lurantis can also switch in and scare out Vaporeon, so packing resists checks (never use "resists" as a noun, that's not how it works) like Scyther, Pyroar, or Oricorio is recommended.
