[OVERVIEW]

+Counters top tier threats like Primal Kyogre(Never 2HKOed, 2HKOs with Grass Knot), Xerneas(Never 2HKOed even at +2, Uses Roar and 2HKOs later with Sludge Bomb), Mega Diancie(2HKOs with Grass Knot), Arceus Water(2HKOs with Grass Knot) and Lugia(inducing status and totally walling).
Some impressive calcs:
+2 252+ SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Venusaur: 145-171 (39.8 - 46.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Mega Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs. 184 HP / 0 SpD Xerneas: 236-278 (53.7 - 63.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Mega Venusaur Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Primal Kyogre: 204-242 (50.4 - 59.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Primal Kyogre Origin Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Venusaur in Heavy Rain: 120-142 (32.9 - 39%) -- 99.8% chance to 3HKO

+Absorbs Toxic because of typing.
+It's not passive since it has 122 base special attack and no It's not outclassed by Ferrothorn and Aegislash since it does (37.5 - 44.4%) to Mega Sableye with Grass Knot and (36.1 - 42.7%) to Mega Salamence with Sludge Bomb. Not to exclude the 30% poison rate on other possible switch ins like Ho-oh, Latis, etc...
+Knocks off the items of Latis and Ho-Oh if Knock Off is used.
+It's good vs Sableye, Lugia, Waterceus, Tyranitar, Blissey so It's good vs Stall unlike Aegi and Ferro totally walled by Sab.
+Doesn't get trapped by Mega Gengar Because Roar.

- Opportunity cost of Mega.
- Free switch in to Latis and Ho-oh if poison doesn't happen and even after Knock Off.
- Set up Bait for Mega Salamence and Rayquaza.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Grass Knot for 120BP on Primal Kyogre, Arceus Water and Primal Groudon.
  • Sludge Bomb for Xerneas and 30% Poison Ratio on Latis, Mence and Ho-Oh.
  • Knock off can be used instead of Sludge Bomb to greatly annoys Latis and Ho-oh but Venusaur wont be able to touch Salamence then and he might lose vs some Xerneas sets specially 1 on 1 end game.
  • Toxic can be used for a more reliable answer to Latis, Ho-oh and Mence switch ins than Sludge Bomb.
  • Roar to avoid being set up bait on anything and to Roar out Xerneas at +2 as well as Mega Gengar.
  • Synthesis as only way for recovery.

Set Details
========

  • Max HP and Max spe def Evs with Calm nature to take minimal damage from Xerneas and Primal Kyogre specially rain boosted Origin Pulse.
  • No need for special attack investment since it has strong stabs and 122 base.
  • Thick Fat halfs the damage of ice and fire moves.
  • Venusaurite to become Mega and acquire the added bulk and special attack.(pretty obvious do i even write that ? :v)

Usage Tips
=======

  • Always switch Venau in on Xerneas since it totally walls it. Doing this would keep your Primal Groudon at high HP.
  • Altering between it and Primal Groudon vs Primal Kyogre gives more efficiency than using it alone vs the whale.
  • It forces switch outs many times so abuse that to either Hit or Toxic.
  • Using it with a Cleric is advised since it might get burned by Scald or by a Will-O-Wisp.
  • Versus Stall you should switch it in a lot and pressure Mega Sableye and others.
  • Switch it in to remove Toxic Spikes if any.
  • Don't Hesitate to Roar in situations where the Pokemon against you might set up and sweep(Groudon, Ekiller) since Venusaur has decent physical bulk too on case the opponent hits.
Team Options
========

  • Strong checks for Latis, Ho-Oh, Rayquaza, Mewtwo and Mence are mandatory like Tyranitar or Yveltal and Arceus Water for example.
  • It takes a lot off the back of Primal Groudon so you could consider an offensive Primal Groudon set.
  • Can be used with hazards to abuse Roar.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=========

  • Power Whip instead of Grass Knot with a sassy nature does more damage to Kyogre.
  • Leech Seed can be used to leech switch ins but Knock off/Toxic are superior options.
  • More Special attack can be used for better power vs stall but it already has enough power and it needs the bulk to handle rain boosted Origin pulse.
  • Sleep Powder can be nice to temporarily shut down switch ins but Ho oh has sleep talk and other moves are more valuable.

Checks and Counters
==============

**Will o Wisp pokemon** like Mega Sableye or an Arceus form on the switch. Venu would be greatly annoyed by burn.
**Salamence**: It 1hko and can set up on it.
**Ho oh**: Venusaur Can't damage it unless removing it's item or toxicing it. either way it still 1hko venusaur.
**Latias/Latios**: greatly annoyed by knock off but can switch in on it and hits it really hard with Psyshock.
**Mewtwo**: Ohkos it with STAB psichic and takes minimal damage from its hits.
**Rayquaza**: Ohkos or sets up.
** Offensive Yveltal**: 2hkos with oblivion wing while venau can't really damage it.
**Deo-A**: 1hko's it.

I've actually tried this, and it's fucking terrible. It faces basically the same problem as Mega Altaria. As a defensive Pokemon that you'd want to switch into things (like Kyogre), you're not bulky enough before you Mega Evolve. Unless you want to do a Diancie and lead with it (and throw away a fuck ton of momentum), most of the time this is taking stuff like 50%+ on its initial switch-in from something like Kyogre using Origin Pulse (or some equivalent), and your ability to tank things after that is just gone. This is not to mention 2) poor use of your Mega Stone slot and 3) this thing just sits there and does jack shit.

The only offensive threats you can deal with venu are xern/diancie, but the meta us filled with mons that take advantage of its presence. It also takes up your mega slot, further restricting ways to make up for its weaknesses.

The reasons i gave are valid for it to work competitively speaking. Damn niggas why you do this. :[
RIP analysis i bet dice will come soon and rip it off with 3/3 please Sweep help meh :[

sweep pointed out this mon to me on irc and i really wasnt impressed with it - these calcs only come into effect if you are already mega evolved which is rarely gonna happen at full hp (kyogre 2hkos mega venusaur with +1 pulse, any chip damage and xern 2hkos) so you take up a mega slot just to...roar out some setup sweepers that potentially overpower it anyway? most mons in the meta also give no shits for it. the mega opportunity cost is also ridiculously high (stall loses bounce, balance loses literally all other viable megas, offense... yea). hack and shrang also made excellent points.

if this mon wasnt a mega id consider it but wishful thinking doesn't make analyses. i could never recommend the usage of this mon to any newer user (or any user, really) wanting a decent team.
