Hello! I've only really started playing Showdown about a month ago, and I've started playing OU very recently. But since I can't make a team without some kind of gimmick, I decided on a team that's centered around Slush Rush Arctozolt.
The Team
Luna (Ninetales-Alola) (F) @ Icy Rock
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Moonblast
- Blizzard
- Aurora Veil
Of course, first off we have Alolan Ninetails with Aurora Veil. I'm not completely happy with Toxic taking up a move slot, because I've barely been able to use it, but I'm not exactly sure what else to add. She doesn't have that much SpA investment, but stab Blizzard in Hail hurts, and can quickly get rid of Landorous-T that tries to Stealth Rock.
Bolt (Arctozolt) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Blizzard
- Freeze-Dry
- Stomping Tantrum
Next we have the star of the show, Arctozolt. But I'll be honest, I'm not super happy with his moveset either. I went back and forth on adding Icicle Crash instead of Blizzard on them, but again, Blizzard in Hail hurts, and much more reliable. Stomping Tantrum is mostly to get rid of any rock types or to surprise a slow Heatran, and Freeze Dry can surprise bulky Water/Ground types like Swampert that try to come in and Earthquake.
Jet (Dragapult) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- U-turn
Dragapult is the most recent member on the team, replacing a defensive Corviknight and finally adding some much needed Ghost coverage. Draco Meteor is always a nice nuke, and Choice Specs help make it even stronger. I went back and forth on adding Phantom Force instead of Shadow Ball, but Choice Specs makes up for the missing power nicely.
Bouba (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
I'll be honest, Clefable was mostly on here for pure support (and because I need to add my favorite Pokemon to every team I make), but I overhauled her moveset to actually be more useful. Magic Guard + Life Orb is always fun, but I'm not completely sure what to replace Flamethrower with... or if I should replace it at all, since it's fun to catch a Ferrothorn off guard when I tank Gyro Ball with max HP and incinerate them in return. Calm Mind is mostly there for when I actually have a decent chance to set up, or to finish last few mons in a stall team if they've been softened up. (Also, I promise her name isn't anything inappropriate. It's just a reference to the Bouba and Kiki effect.)
Olly (Kartana) @ Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike
- Knock Off
Kartana is also relatively new, but they've quickly become an MVP. It's the Grass and Steel coverage I needed, along with the always reliable Sacred Sword. Knock Off is also an always useful move. Plus, if I can get in snag a kill with any of these moves and get the Atk increase from Beast Boost, I have a pretty good chance to take down a few more before Life Orb recoil takes me down.
Pooh (Urshifu-Rapid-Strike) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
- Surging Strikes
- Zen Headbutt
Finally, Urshifu is my much needed Water coverage. His moveset is admittedly weird, because I kind of rely on him to fill in any patches for when everything goes wrong and I lose a heavy hitter. Surging Strikes and Close Combat are obvious, Poison Jab is an attempt to counter frail Fairy types that try to come in, and Zen Headbutt is just... there. I'm not sure what to replace it with though.
Any suggestions for moveset changes would be appreciated, but I wouldn't mind moveset overhauls or replacing Pokemon altogether... all except for Clefable. She's basically my mascot at this point. Also, here's the pokepaste to test the team easier: https://pokepast.es/54a052aa1e5ccdba
