[OVERVIEW]
Arcanine is a great Pokémon in VGC 2017. It can run many different sets from offensive, such as an All Out attacker boasting strong physical moves, or a special offensive with Firium Z and Burn Up, to more defensive sets, such as Morning Sun and Leftovers sets. Arcanine can even run things such as Thief, Bulldoze and Toxic to provide more support. Due to its flexibility, good bulk, good Speed and a high base 110 Attack, Arcanine stapled itself as arguably the best Pokémon through VGC 2017, being part of common cores, such as a a balanced Grass-, Water- and Fire-type and offensive compositions.

Arcanine's good bulk and base 110 Atk set makes it a great side sweeper for the team while providing utility to the team. Flare Blitz is Arcanine's STAB of choice, paired with Extreme Speed for priority damage. For its third slot, Arcanine can run Wild Charge, benefiting from Tapu Koko's terrain, Helping Hand, or Snarl for lowering the opposing Pokémon Special Attack, which is useful against Nihilego, Tapu Lele and Tapu Koko. Arcanine will always hold a pinch berry to increase its longevity. Intimidate is mandatory so you can lower the physical attack from threats like Kartana, Garchomp and Alolan Muk. This EV spread allows Arcanine to survive a Tapu Koko's Thunderbolt with Life Orb in Electric Terrain, and outspeeding Adamant Gyarados.
Like mentioned, Arcanine can fit in almost every single team without any drawbacks, but some Pokémon pop off more then others. Kartana is a great ally for it, being able to break through Tapu Fini and Nihilego with relative ease. Speaking of which, Tapu Fini makes up another good ally, being another flexible Pokémon and powering against Garchomp. Tapu Koko will also team up with it greatly, since Arcanine's damage reduction will help Tapu Koko regarding its mediocre bulk.
