Hi all I'm new to the forum and have a team I'd like to get critiqued. I play only doubles/VGC, and it's been a lot of fun so far. This is my first attempt at a competitive team.
Meowstic (Leftovers) Timid, Prankster
252hp, 148spe, 108def
Quick Guard, Psychic, Swagger, Safeguard
I'm proud of this build. This Meowstic is speed EVed to be 1 point faster than regular Kangaskhan so it can quick guard the fake out as well as block any priority moves from Talonflame and the ilk. Psychic has come to save me many times and gotten crucial KOs against Hitmontop, and I find Will-O-Wisp to be all over the place and quite crippling for the rest of my team, so Safeguard is in there. Swagger I throw around as often as possible, and when my team is safeguarded as well to increase attack. Leftovers has saved me numerous times, and Meowstic also has surprising bulk especially with the extra EVs in defense.
Azumarill (Sitrus Berry) Adamant, Huge Power
0 spe IV
252hp, 252atk, 4spd
Belly Drum, Aqua Jet, Play Rough, Superpower
Simple formula here. Belly Drum then Aqua Jet or use regular attacks if he's crazy enough to use Trick Room. I like leading with Azu and Meowstic, and it's caused panic quite a lot. Azumarill can be frail though even with the Sitrus Berry, so I'm reliant on either Follow Me support or Meowstic getting some key swaggers off.
Garchomp (Life Orb) Jolly, Rough Skin
252spe, 252atk, 4hp
Protect, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Dragon Claw
My sweeper and half of DisQuake. Pretty standard life orb set. Stone Edge over Rock Slide, because I find I need the extra power to get KOs on certain flying/fire types. Also, so I don't get shut down by wide guard.
Rotom-w (Choice Scarf) Modest, Levitate
252spe, 252spa, 4hp
Trick, Discharge, Hydro Pump, Will-O-Wisp
Depending on the matchup, I'll either trick the choice scarf on or just proceed to set off as many discharges as possible. Have a feeling there's a better EV spread in there so that I just manage to outspeed certain threats, but I'm still figuring out who the biggest threats are.
Togekiss (Weakness Policy) Calm, Serene Grace
252hp, 252spd, 4spa
Follow Me, Flamethrower, Dazzling Gleam, Air Slash
I'm not sold on this. I did the EV spread a while ago for Paraflinch, and now thinking with a more offensive focus, I should invest more in spa. Flamethrower is there because Scizor is a big problem, Dazzling Gleam for coverage STAB and Air Slash of course. I would have sitrus berry on it, but I've already used up my quota. Weakness policy is a great substitute though because Togekiss can tank almost any supereffective attack and pick up the boost to attack.
Mawile (Mawilite) Adamant, Intimidate
252hp, 252atk, 4spe
Protect, Play Rough, Iron Head, Sucker Punch
Standard Mawile. I gave it a tiny 4EVs of speed to make it faster than other Mawiles. It hits hard, and Intimidate lead can be a surprise to some teams. I wish it had more speed, but it's raw strength is enough to compensate imo. I was thinking of running something fast in this slot, but can't quite find the right complement.
So this is my team, it's for doubles. The biggest concerns I have are that I don't have enough Pokemon with protect on my team. Only Garchomp and Mawile have it, and I might have trouble against stall teams because of it. A bigger concern as well is weather. My team has no real weather setter/weather control and I'm not sure how to fix it. Run a Tyranitar over Mawile? Who do I use then as my Mega?
Looking for thoughts on the team, and any input is appreciated! Thanks!
