Chien-Pao breezes through Regulation F, using Icy Wind to let allies outpace foes. Ice Spinner and Icicle Crash threaten Raging Bolt and Rillaboom; Icicle Crash can OHKO Amoonguss, while Ice Spinner has better accuracy. Sucker Punch pressures Gholdengo and low-HP foes, while Icy Wind allows partners like Urshifu-R and Raging Bolt to outspeed Ogerpon-H. Focus Sash makes up for Chien-Pao's fragility, allowing it to support its team without fear of being OHKOed. 4 Defense EVs allow Chien-Pao to survive Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R, and a Naive nature allows it to outspeed Choice Specs Flutter Mane while 2HKOing Landorus with Icy Wind. Tera Ice pushes Chien-Pao's damage to the limit, OHKOing the likes of Raging Bolt and Flutter Mane with Icicle Crash. Tera Ghost gives it an immunity to Rillaboom's and Incineroar's Fake Out, as well as to Dragonite's Extreme Speed. Urshifu-R and Iron Crown are huge threats to Chien-Pao, as both can KO it immediately with their multi-hit moves. Chien-Pao also struggles to damage Incineroar and Chi-Yu. Rillaboom pressures Urshifu-R, while Incineroar can deal with Iron Crown, (AC) and both provide Fake Out support. Urshifu-R threatens Fire-types and appreciates Sword of Ruin.

Große Bedrohungen für Chien-Pao sind Urshifu-R und Iron Crown, da beide es mit ihren Multi-Hit-Attacken sofort ausschalten können.
