VGC Jail Break team

Ok, so the name might not be the best, but I couldn't come up with anything particularly witty. I just thought "imprison + explosion = jail break?" so don't give me too much crap over it :P

Anywho, this team is, as the title states, for the VGC. Thus, 4-man team, level 50, yadda yadda. So, here we go:

Mismagius @ Focus Sash
Levitate
Timid
88 HP/252 Spe/168 Sp.D
-Imprison
-Trick Room
-Protect
-Icy Wind

The core of my team. Imprison combined with Trick Room and Protect means that the two biggest pains in my ass from the meta are completely nullified as long as Missy is alive. Icy Wind is there for damage and speed reduction. Focus Sash is my item of choice to avoid getting 1-shot from physical attacks.

Snorlax @ Muscle Band
Thick Fat
Adamant
88 HP/252 ATK/168 Def
-Self Destruct
-Return
-Crunch
-Protect

Protect on the first turn gives Mismagius time to set up Imprison, though he carries Return for STAB an Crunch for ghost pokes like Giratina. I'm not too sure about Return though, because even though I like the STAB, i figure that I could probably get better use out of something that gives me better type coverage. My defensive EV spread helps Snorlax survive against a Mach Punch + Waterspout combo from TopOgre.

Lugia @ Sitrus Berry
Pressure
Timid
4 HP/252 Spe/252 Sp.A
-Shadow Ball
-Earth Power
-Roost
-Protect

The problem with Snorlax is that even if he's immune to ghost-type attacks, the typical Infernape/Giratina lead will smash his face in. Which is where Lugia comes in. 4x resistence to fighting means an easy switch into Close Combat, as well as high defense and Sp.D. Shadow Ball hits super effective against Giratina, while also being one of the few moves on my team that actually hits Shedinja. Earth Power should 1-shot Infernape after an Icy Wind from Mismagius. (I was also considering going Dragon Rush and Earthquake, with Atk EVs, but Dragon Rush has such horrible accuracy, and I'd be screwed if my opponent had Shedinja on his team) Also, since I have Roost, I might drop the Sitrus Berry for something more offensive like Wise Glasses, but I'm not 100% sure about that yet.

Metagross
@ Custap Berry
Clear Body
Adamant
88 HP/252 Atk/168 Sp.D
-Explosion
-Hammer Arm
-Bullet Punch
-Protect

Typical Metagross move list. Again, a bit of a defensive EV spread to help against attacks of that nature. I've found that I can switch into a full power Water Spout, survive with about 8% health, then Explode on the next turn with my Custap Berry.

My biggest problem really is anything that can survive an explosion then heal. Defensive Lugia seems to be a consistent issue, since I tend to see them screen up, then use Calm Mind a few times. Unless I can blow them up ASAP, they pretty much become unkillable, unless I can manage to force them to struggle themselves to death.

First of all either pick Icy wind or TR, dont run both. I doubt you'll find much success with lugia, its better suited as a supporter. I think giratina or giratina-o could do a better job. metagross is pretty standard. You also need help against rain as this team could get 4-0ed against a topogre lead.

I think you completely missed the point of the Mismagius lead. Trick Room is run alongside Imprison, so I can lock out Trick Room teams, not so I can use it myself.

I don't think Giratina would work as a substitute to Lugia, since it retains the same weakness to Shadow Force, and also has a 2x weakness to Draco Meteor, without the high Sp.D that Lugia has to wall the attack on the switch-in. Though admittedly, Lugia makes a better supporter than a sweeper, but that just means that I might have to consider changing up its move set. Maybe something like Reflect-Calm Mind-Roost-Airoblast.

And I don't really see getting a 0-4 against TopOgre. My Snorlax can survive a Waterspout + Mach Punch. The lead should go something like this:

Round 1: Snorlax Protects, Hitmontop Fakes Out Snorlax, Kyogre Waterspouts, Mismagius Imprisons
Round 2: Hitmontop Mach Punches Snorlax, Kyogre Waterspouts, Mismagius dies, Snorlax Self Destructs

In the end, the only concern is a Focus Sash on Hitmontop, but I see a lot of Life Orb, tbh. But the thing is, since most TopOgre teams run ScarfOgre, I would probably actually be best off not even using Imprison first turn, and just going with Icy Wind, because it'll break the sash, and Imprison wouldn't hit anything anyway.
