VGC VGC Reg I Team Tips

Hello! Im making a team for a small tournament i'm joining soon and while I have a decent idea on what I want to build, I feel like I'm missing a few things that can flesh out this team

The only things I'm unsure of is that Ogerpon-H is basically unused in my team due to Groudon usually being my first pick, and Farigiraf since I wanted to try using Trick Room with this team but since testing it out, it doesnt get as much value out of it. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated!

Why amulet on mir? it'd like some bulk too, if that set is considered ok by people. Groudon has no ground...change the tera to any defensive type, or fire. HDB are ad in vgc, more if you resist rocks. Unsure why it is max spe and moreover max atk w/ 1 attack. go full hp. Whimsi seems a very poor tera grass user, try dark or idk. Farigraf looks interesting...I bet there's a more optimal spread. Bast is cool, but while you can ALMOST justfy it in singles, I'm not sure it's even a near thing in vgc. I'd run something else for wide guard. It's just too weird sadly.

I did actually change this team up quite a lot since the original post, I changed the EV's on Groudon to your suggestion actually, still kept the tera ground, If i have the option to change my team since I submitted it already, Ill definitely fix that. I put Assualt Vest on Mira since I changed him to have all damage moves since he has great coverage on his own and is my main sweeper anyway. I decided to get rid of Whimiscott and swapped him for Grimmsnarl to get Light Screen + Reflect, mainly making it more comfortable taking hits if I cant sweep with miradon fast enough. As for Bastiodon, While I keep him in my reserves as i tend to run Grou, Mira, Grimm, and Oger-H, Basti seems to be one of the better wide guard users that has the bulk to compensate getting hit once or twice by non spread moves, and doesnt step on the rest of my teams toes with their own weather setters like Peli, and dont have to burn a restricted slot for it like Luna. I know hes a very weird option but I think hes actually able to do good things and as Wide guard support and his bulk + Iron Defence/Body Press allows him to throw out some very good damage. I kept Farigraf the same because since my main sweeper sets Elec Terrain hes not really needed but if I have to swap Mira out then I can use him and compensate for slower mons.

Lax nature is unviable, try impish since no special attacks. Also, why discharge anyways? Your mons won't like para chance on them.

Okay, thanks! Swapped to Impish on Groudon, The reason I use Discharge is because I usually pair Mira+Grou as often as possible since he has full Immunity, allowing me to use helping hand with him to maximize damage with Tera Electric Miradon using Discharge for spread.

good afternoon, while the base core of Groudon + Miraidon is quite viable, the way that you've built it out does not really work at all

1. EVs
Your EV spreads and natures are not optimized at all, use this and this— these function as directories to the analysis for viable mons in Regulation I & G that will have optimized EV spreads for your mons.
2. Mon choice & Set choices
Bastiodon is entirely unviable, its typing and stats hold it back significantly— there are much better pokemon that should be used over it. The Farigiraf set is also not good— eject button is actively detrimental to it, and baton pass is useless on it. Your Farig also has no attacking moves & is thus extremely passive. Your Groudon is lacking any Ground type moves and is running two moves (Helping Hand and Swords Dance) that it really only needs one of. Dazzling Gleam is overall unnecessary on Miraidon here, overall it's better to use either triple electric move (Volt Switch + Electro Drift + Parabolic Charge/Discharge) or Snarl as your last move. Electro Drift is also basically mandatory on Miraidon. A vast majority of the Pokemon on this composition are much too passive. Your only real ways to do damage are Ogerpon-H and AV Miraidon, which will leave you lacking into any Pokemon that are able to outlast them. You also just have a fairly useless mon in the form of Bastiodon and bad sets on Groudon & Farigiraf which make them extremely passive & non-threatening.

Groudon and Miraidon Structures:
These are two successful examples of a Groudon + Miraidon structure:

https://pokepast.es/064aa7ea966f455d
Grimmsnarl & Assault Vest Miraidon were overall good choices by you! They both synergize very well with Groudon and a lot of common Groudon partners. Secondarily, Volcarona is extremely notable here— as both teams as well as popular Miraidon + Zamazenta teams utilize Volcarona for its excellent Calyrex-S + Zamazenta matchup. Incineroar is also chosen on these teams for its excellent Calyrex-S and Calyrex-I matchup while also buffing the rest of the team's physical bulk.

Final team:
I'm going to take a few ideas from both of these teams and yours to make a new version that should be a lot better.

Grimmsnarl with Thunder Wave combines Speed Control and Damage Reduction into one mon, while running Parabolic Charge Miraidon + Helping Hand Groudon allows you to force damage with both of your restricteds. Iron Hands is an excellent bulky support option that is able to handle threats like Calyrex-I and Kyogre that may otherwise cause some issues. Ogerpon-H provides you with redirection for Volcarona to set up while also being able to output a lot of damage after Tera Fire.

if you have any further questions feel free to let me know!
