Good evening, and for those reading this at a later time good morning/good afternoon. I have come here today after a great deal of battling with this team and I am now searching for additional input to fix the kinks in this team that have sadly become more and more apparent. Your advice and opinions are welcome.
I have been away from the vid games for a few years as I played the tcg until recently. I was always more inclined to the vid games, but never had the time to iv breed and honestly did not know how to do it properly. Now that I have returned to my preferred area with much greater wisdom I tried out a Trick Room team as I love Mega Abomasnow and Mega Mawile. I really wanted to build a team for them, but I admit I need help as I have very little experience with TR. So here they are.
Reuniclus/Life Orb
Quiet 172 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 56 SpD
Magic Guard
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Protect
Trick Room
I went with Reuniclus because his bulk, high spA, and low speed made him a great TR user, especially since Cresselia is unusable at the moment. Life Orb is for the power up and ability cancelling the damage is nice while Psychic and Shadow Ball give okay coverage since steel's nerf, but Dark-types make it flounder. He has some synergy with Diggersby due to Reuni resisting fighting and Digs being immune to Ghost, but he is starting to feel out of place. His weakness to Taunt, and offensive beasts like Mega- Kangaskhan/ Gengar hurt his ability to safely set up TR. I've pondered Aromatisse, but that can be discussed later.
Mawile/Mega Mawile Mawilite
Intimidate/ Huge Power 252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 SpD
Adamant
Play Rough
Sucker Punch
Fire Fang
Protect
One of my favorite Megas. Mega Mawile is the main offensive powerhouse of the team and knocks holes in many things. I like to see it as a combination of Hitmontop and Metagross through it's typing, ability, and power. Her multiple resiatances and immunities are great for many on my team, but I worry the EV spread is insufficient. Her moveset is obvious, but I love fire fang and it's ability to hit other mawiles and Aegislash if Sucker punch is too risky.
Abomasnow/Mega Abomasnow Abomasite
Snow Warning 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 SpA
Brave
Ice Shard
Blizzard
Wood Hammer
Protect
Probably where I am already messing up. I have two Megas on my team that serve the same role, but in different ways and through different typing. Abomasnow resists the ground, water, grass, and electric weaknesses of my other pokes while they support it through their typing (Rotom-w fire, flying, etc). The EVs were done to maximize the damage it could do and from experience is amazing, while relying on it's already high bulk to survive. If the reason I am having a difficult time is because I'm trying to build a team around two Megas, I am inclined to remove Abomasnow more from the roster, due to being resisted by Aegislash and falling prey to bullet punch and mach punch.
Talonflame/Sky Plate
Gale Wings 132 HP/ 252 Atk/ 124 Spe
Adamant
Flare Blitz
Brave Bird
Taunt
WoW
Newest guy added to the team to try out an I enjoy him. Taunt helps shut down sleep powder or spore to hurt Reuniclus, while WoW makes physical attackers do nothing compared to Reuniclus' bulk. Even under TR his ability still makes him hit first and hard as the Sky Plate makes his BB do more damage. Despite sharing a weakness with Diggersby, I enjoy the fact I can switch Talonflame into an EQ without worry and hit Mega-Venusaur through a weakness his ability doesn't cover. My only worry is that he doesn't have protect so I can't use Discharge while he is out or else I can KO my own poke. The EVs were given as they make him a bit bulkier while making him faster than base 95's with a boosting nature without priority, though that makes him harder to function in TR without spamming BB.
Rotom-W/ Sitrus Berry
Modest 252 HP/ 252 SpA/ 4 Def
Discharge
Hydro Pump
Wow
Protect
Rotom is one of my faves from Gen V due to his synergy with my favorite poke of all time GARCHOMP. The moveset and EVs are obvious, but I went with modest instead of quiet as he shares a similar role to Diggersby, not too fast and not too slow so that he can out-speed things in and out of TR, though the opposite can be true as well. I pair him with Digs as the two share a similar synergy like Rotom had with Garchomp, but the problem is they share a grass type weakness and Rotom can't do much about fighting types for Digs except burn them.
Diggersby/ Soft Sand
Huge Power 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Adamant
EQ
RS
Protect
Quick Attack
I love, nay am enthralled with this thing. Awesome attack power, immunity to ghost and electric, STAB priority, and possibly the most power EQ in the game. When this thing starts it destroys all in it's path. Anyway, the moveset is obvious to use STAB while also having a move to hit both opposing pokes without harming a team member, and the EVs help him do what rotom does, not be too fast and not too slow. Without TR he still outspeeds Ttar and other bulky pokes to hit them hard before the TR is set up, and once in it can outspeed garchomp and others to hit THEM hard too. Downside is his weakness to three forms of priority, but Reuniclus/Talonflame covers fighting, while Abomasnow deals water, and rotom/mawile have ice.
This is it. I hope you guys can show me where I can improve. Thank you for your time!
