VGC Trick Room v2

Chandelure @ Focus Sash
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Heat Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Protect
- Trick Room

My main Trick Room setter. Chandelure was chosen because it actually has an offensive presence once Trick Room is up, immune to Fake Out, and can work somewhat outside of TR. Heat Wave and Shadow Ball are standard, Protect is to protect me from taunts/attacks. It works rather well. Trick Room, is obvious enough. Focus sash is my item choice because Chandelure can't survive a hit most of the time.

Hariyama @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 124 SDef / 132 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Close Combat
- Rock Slide
- Fake Out
- Detect

My Fake-Out Pokemon. I chose Hariyama as my TR fake out because I experimented with Scrafty and Hitmontop in the past. They just don't seem to work. Scrafty is too weak, and Hitmontop can't really hit Ghost types very well. Hariyama also becomes immune to status once flame orb is up, and is more powerful than either. It also has quite some bulk. Close combat is my STAB attack and it hits HARD. Most pokemon are OHKO'd or 2HKO'd by Flame Orb Close Combat. Rock slide is my coverage move. I used Ice punch earlier on, but it didn't seem to work, as most Ghost Types I come across are resistant to Ice punch. Rock slide also has the bonus of flinching and hitting both Pokemon. Fake Out is there to disable a pokemon for a turn, which gives Chandelure/Cresselia a better chance at setting TR. Detect is for scouting pokemon's moves and can save Hariyama from dying for one turn.

Abomasnow @ Ice Gem
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Ice Shard
- Protect

Here's the Abominable Snowman! Ice gem was chosen as my item for it because it can hit HARD with Blizzard. Blizzard is my main STAB move, and can hit both pokemon for massive damage. Giga drain is to hit Water types for alot of damage and heal Abomasnow. It's my secondary STAB move. Ice shard is to hit Pokemon that are near dead, or get some damage on the opposing Pokemon before abomasnow dies. Protect is expected for most pokemon in VGC. I chose Abomasnow because it helps stop weather teams and especially rain teams.

Rotom-Wash @ ???
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Quiet Nature
IVs: 2 Spd
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Ice]

The flying appliance is on this team and ready to battle! I'm actually unsure what item I should give it. Hydro pump is my main STAB move and hits hard. Thunderbolt is the secondary STAB and if I think Hydro Pump is overkill, I would use this. It also covers opposing water types. Will-o-Wisp is to cripple physical attackers. Quite useful. HP Ice is the last move because I just feel rather weak against dragon types if I went with protect. It has good synergy with Abomasnow, because it resists most attacks that it's weak to, and can help cripple fighting types.

Metagross @ Normal Gem
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Explosion
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt

RAWR! Normal gem is to help EXPLOSION, a very powerful move. Explosion is to DESTROY the opposing Pokemon once Metagross is really weak. It helped me win some battles that I couldn't have without it. Earthquake is coverage against Steel types and Fire types. Meteor Mash is a powerful STAB move that makes it even bigger of a beast if it gets off an attack boost. Zen headbutt is my other STAB move helping me take down things that resist meteor mash.

Cresselia (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def OR 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Trick Room
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Helping Hand/Reflect OR Light Screen

Ah yes, Cresselia. A very good support pokemon and my secondary trick room user. Sitrus berry helps it survive longer. Trick Room is pretty obvious. Ice beam is to hit Dragon types/Dark types for damage. Psyshock is my STAB move and can hit for a bit of damage. I can't decide between Helping Hand or one of the screens. Helping hand helps other pokemon, as they all but rotom-w have double target moves. But reflect/light screen helps Cress and others survive for longer. If I go for Light Screen, I have to change the EV spread to make it physically defensive. If Reflect, then I keep it the way it is.

So, that is my VGC team. Help me on it! Give criticism!

Hello, I fought this team on showdown. If you remember me I had the jellicent vaporeon metagross conkeldurr musharna and togekiss and won the match. Some flaws I noticed with this team is that your team has a REALLY hard time out of trick room. If you are relying upon trick room being up at all times then I would suggest you try a rage powder amoonguss or follow me togekiss. Considering that you have an explosion abuser I would also suggest telepathy musharna as your other TR setter to double the abusive pokes. The sole reason I won was because you were fighting a trick room weather hybrid and it threw you off, other trick room sweepers and some regular can ko almost all of your pokes in one move. Mach Punch > Detect on the Hariyama imo, also instead of the balance between the two defense and spec d stats you should just pool into hp. You also lack combinations of synergy in your team which means you are at a severe disadvantage to other teams lacking synergy like good stuff teams due to the loss of two pokes. You need to experiment with combinations that side by side benefit both pokemon. In my fight I used the rain half of the vgc team, you saw that jellicent and togekiss came out first, I knew you would fake out on the first to togekiss so I protected, I also knew you would TR with cress as well so I set up a rain dance. The next turn your hari and cress killed my togekiss who follow me'd while my jellicent ko'd the hari. Then the vaporeon came out. Between the healing from water absorb on the jellicent and hydration resting with vaporeon you couldn't manage to net a ko because you brought the wrong counters while the two raindance water moved there way to victory after a rain dance on switch to abomasnow. Another tip would be if you are having problems with ghosts try Ttar over Abomasnow as your main weather counter, both are nice pokes and you run a lot of ice moves on your other pokes to balance the change out.

I see. Well, I'll take that into consideration.

But really, the only pokemon that Telepathy can work with is Metagross, and Cress avoids EQ.
Hariyama can't learn mach punch. Although it can learn bullet punch, I don't really need it. Although, detect isn't very helpful to me, so I'll go for wide guard. Also, 252 HP is actually not as bulky as the defenses I provided with the RMT.

You also lack combinations of synergy in your team which means you are at a severe disadvantage to other teams lacking synergy like good stuff teams due to the loss of two pokes. Hmm... I see.
Hmm. That could work. Abomasnow just gets walled by too many pokemon for me. Heatran is the worst example.

Thanks for helping!

Hi, it looks like you have a nice TR team on your hands. I'd like to help you with some EVs and Pokemon choices.

As for EVs:
Rotom-W: 236 HP / 180 SpDef / 20 Speed / 68 SpAtk / 4 Def

It lives Gem DM from Latios, with a slight bit of speed creep and enough SpAtk power to still get KOes / 2HKOes on it's common targets (TTar, Landorus-T, Scizor, Metagross, Excadrill etc.). I think with all the strong SpAtks going around in our metagame, special bulk is really important.

Metagross: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Attack lets you keep all of your Attack while never being 3HKOed by Adamant 252 Metagross' double target EQ.

Cress: 220 HP / 84 Def / 176 SDef / 28 SAtk lets you live Dark Gem 252 Adamant TTar Crunch and +1 Bug Buzz from Volcarona while minimizing Hail damage. It also lets you 2HKO 4HP Virizion and Terrakion and 252 HP Hitmontop with Psyshock.

As for Pokemon, I think Conkeldurr would be really good instead of Hariyama.

Conkeldurr @ Life Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 SDef
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Hammer Arm
- Mach Punch
- Detect
- Ice Punch

It gives you some nice, power coverage against Dragons and others weak to Ice. Also, this thing is an absolute monster inside of TR, and sometimes even outside of it because of its immense bulk and the sheer power of Hammer Arm. The EVs simply minimize hail and Life Orb damage. Since Hariyama and him share a typing, your synergy isn't even affected!

Nice team so far, I hope this advice helps you!
