So, after doing a bit of research, I'm trying to piece together a decent team for VGC. So, after doing a bit of testing, this is the team I'm working with right now, and the comments I have about it:
Cresselia @ Light Clay
Levitate
Relaxed
252 HP/128 Def/128 Sp.Def
-Trick Room
-Light Screen
-Toxic
-Moonlight
Normally, Cresselia/Groudon means tons of Helping Hand support, but since I figure most people would expect that, I decided to change things up. My entire team is stronger on Defense than Sp.D, so I tossed in Light Screen for defensive support against the Spacial Rends and Flame Throwers and Waterspouts. Toxic is for damage support, and helps kill sashers before they get a second round to attack. And since my team is heavily geared toward being a sunny day team, I thought Moonlight would be more helpful for survivability than Protect.
Groudon @ Iron Ball
Drought
Brave
252 HP/252 ATK/4 SpD
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch
-Fling
-Protect
Typical Groudon move set, getting lots of type coverage. Since this is doubles, and a Trick Room team, I decided to add my EVs into making him bulkier, and dropping his speed as low as possible to give him the edge when TR is active. Not to mention, the lower speed guarantees Drought will stick over any other weather poke, even speed-neutral TTar and Abomasnow.
Metagross @ Muscle Band
Clear Body
Brave
252 HP/252 ATK/4 SpD
-Explosion
-Meteor Mash
-Hammer Arm
-Sunny Day
Standard Metagross movelist, with the exception of Sunny Day to take care of the weather in case Drought gets overwritten by a poke switch. Again, 252 HP EVs for bulk, and a speed reducing nature to take advantage of TR. I've tested Explosion alongside Cresselia, and she has a high enough Def/HP to survive, and Moonlight up to about 75% health. (something that had to be tested, since she's the only one without Protect)
Tangrowth @ Sitrus Berry
Leaf Guard
Brave
252 HP/252 ATK/4 Sp.D
-Solar Beam
-Rock Slide
-Morning Sun
-Protect
I'm not 100% sure about Tangrowth, but he's useful when I can keep him from getting OHKO by a flamethrower in sunlight. Since I should be in the sun constantly, I picked Solar Beam over Power Whip, being the same damage, but giving me access to a mixed set with Rock Slide. I'm actually considering switching out for Heatran, except Groudon is already weak against water, and Leaf Guard has proven useful a few times.
