Wallbreaker Victini + volt turn offense
Teambuilding Process
I began with Victini and added Manectric-M, one of my favourite megas to use on offense and forms an offensive volt turn core with Victini. Victini mauls stall and manectric does great vs offense so that grabbed my attention too.
I then brought in Latios who provides defog support for Victini and gives an answer to keldeo who can revenge kill Victini easily and threaten most things with draco. I just think Latios is a great mon to use on offense in general being a switch in, a revenge killer and a nuke all at the same time.
Next comes Azumarill, a very threatening attacker who helps with hippowdon and appreciates my first two mons ability to beat steel types and in return beats heatran and landorus-t. I was thinking about keldeo but I thought a fairy would be useful for dragons so I went with azu.
I added Landorus-t to take on excadrill and ttar whilst providing stealth rock support and keeping up momentum with u-turn.
The final slot took some deliberation; I was thinking weavile or talonflame but eventually decided on Serperior. Serperior beats bulky waters and grounds/rocks for victini and is a fantastic cleaner and win con.
The Team
Victini @ choice band
Ability: victory star
Evs: 252atk 252spe 4spd
Adamant nature
Victini with a choice band is pretty ridiculous. I try to bring him in with a volt-turn from lando or mane in order to fire off a big hit which wears down their team for my sweepers and cleaners to finish up.
Manectric-M @ manectite
Ability: lightning rod
Evs: 252spa 252spe 4def
Timid nature
Mane is very good at wearing down opponents in a different way to victini with its hit-and-run tactics. A decent revenge killer and a pain to most offense or balanced teams.
Latios @ life orb
Ability: levitate
Evs: 4hp 252spa 252spe
Timid nature
Defogging is very useful because with the nature of volt-turning and victini my mons can get worn down easily. Is also a good switch in to keldeo as one of my only relatively defensive mons but keeps up momentum and pressure very well.
Evs tweaked as suggested by yuruu. Ty!
Replaced Azumarill with Keldeo
Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
Scald and secret swords are reliable stabs and sub calm mind make it a threatening sweeper.
Suggested by BreloomMyHomie.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Stealth Rock
Often a very good lead to set up rocks. Stealth rock is for support, eq edge is for coverage and damage and sd provides offensive pressure. Defensive ev spread makes it a reliable switch in to sand rush driller and deals better with talonflame.
Lando is now a defensive switch in, a stealth rock setter and an offensive threat. Very versatile and a great mon all round.
Set changed from earth plate offensive set to sd defensive by NotFalse. Thanks!
Replaced Serperior with Bisharp
Bisharp @ BlackGlasses / Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 SpD / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
Bisharp deals with latios/as easily and helps vs regular and mega alakazam. It also gives me a dragon resist and a backup check to fairies.
Pursuit traps psychics and weakened mons, sucker for priority and knock off/iron head are main stabs.
Suggested by yuruu, set given by BreloomMyHomie. Thanks guys!
Conclusion
Thank you for reading this rmt, I really appreciate any criticisms or suggestions anyone has and will definitely look to improve the team. As an extremely amateur teambuilder, I didnt (and neither should you) have high expectations for this but I'm reasonably happy with the outcome and I hope you enjoy the team!
I am really new to competitive Pokémon; I got into it through youtube (creds to joey, blunder and the heatah fajita gang) and I decided to try making an rmt so apologies for any mistakes or extremely amateur team building. I really appreciate any improvements or criticism you guys have to improve both the team and me, as a teambuilder.
I decided to build a team including victini, one of the most underrated yet ridiculously powerful wallbreakers of the tier. Here's a link to a battle from early testing on the lower ladder demonstrating why i love victini; the battle dragged on but... http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-312599926
I love its absolute power and thought a volt turn team would work well to try and bring it in safely and then fire off big hits. HO is definitely my favourite playstyle and I wanted to try and harness the power of victini so I thought why not give it a try...
