Vileplume's typing and decent bulk allow it to check Ground- and Water-types and threaten them with Giga Drain. Strength Sap is amazing for getting recovery and lowering the opponent's Attack, which helps it check a lot of physical attackers, most notably Excadrill. Sleep Powder is great when Vileplume can't do significant damage to the foe or against Pokemon trying to set up. Full investment in HP and Defense with a Bold nature is used to deal with threatening physical attackers such as Excadrill and Morpeko as effectively as possible. Although Vileplume can comfortably switch in on Choice Scarf Excadrill, it can't switch in on Sand Rush variants, as it gets 2HKOed. Vileplume's health should be preserved in games where it is needed to check Excadrill, so Strength Sap should be used when Vileplume takes damage.
Galarian Weezing can use Defog to get rid of hazards so Vileplume can stay as healthy as possible when switching in. Galarian Weezing also takes on Ferrothorn, which can safely come in on Vileplume and set up entry hazards, and provides a Ground immunity thanks to its Levitate, but it does get threatened by Mold Breaker users such as Excadrill. Toxapex is an amazing pivot thanks to its high bulk and Regenerator and forms a great defensive core with Vileplume and Galarian Weezing. Toxapex can also use Haze to stop setup sweepers, as well as pivot on powerful Pokemon such as Dragapult and Charizard. Drapion's typing gives it a Psychic immunity, which is very valuable for Poison-type teams. Gengar offensively checks Psychic-types and has a great Speed tier, allowing it to revenge kill threats such as Galarian Darmanitan and Hydreigon. Salazzle is a great teammate because its Fire typing threatens Steel-type teams, which are otherwise problematic to deal with. Salazzle can also use its Corrosion Toxic to cripple walls that Vileplume may struggle with such as Toxapex, Corviknight, and opposing Vileplume.
