OVERVIEW]

Bug
========
Volcarona is a fantastic sweeper for Bug teams thanks to Quiver Dance, its great Special Attack, and its solid natural bulk. Because of Volcarona's wide movepool, it can threaten to sweep almost any team, with coverage like Psychic and Giga Drain taking care of potential checks like Toxapex and Gastrodon. Roost also helps Volcarona gain multiple setup opportunities, which can make it very difficult to deal with. However, Volcarona struggles to fit all of its coverage options and relies on the opponent not knowing its set to sweep. Volcarona is also crippled by status conditions and Knock Off, as it is reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to switch in safely on entry hazards.

[SET]
name: Quiver Dance (Bug)
move 1: Quiver Dance
move 2: Flamethrower
move 3: Psychic
move 4: Giga Drain / Roost
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Flame Body
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Flamethrower is Volcarona's most consistent STAB move that hits Steel-types that Bug teams usually struggle to break, such as Corviknight and Melmetal. Psychic primarily hits Toxapex, but it also hits other Poison- and Fighting-types such as Crobat and Urshifu-R. Giga Drain hits Water- and Ground-types such as Swampert, Gastrodon, and Hippowdon. Roost gives Volcarona reliable recovery, which allows it to stay healthy and gain multiple boosts. Bug Buzz can be used to hit Dark- and Psychic-types like Hydreigon and Slowking. Heavy-Duty Boots is necessary to avoid Stealth Rock damage, and Flame Body can potentially punish physical attackers. Swarm can be used in conjunction with Bug Buzz for increased damage output.

Bug teams appreciate Volcarona's unmatched late-game sweeping potential. Scizor is a great partner for Volcarona, as it can switch into and deal with Rock-types like Tyranitar and Cradily and facilitate Volcarona's sweep through removing items with Knock Off. It is also a great switch-in to status and opposing Knock Off attempts directed at Volcarona. Entry hazard support from Shuckle, Golisopod, and Araquanid is also very helpful for Volcarona. Shuckle provides both Stealth Rock and Sticky Web, while Araquanid provides a switch-in to Volcarona's primary check in Heatran. Heracross is a great teammate that can help break through Steel-types without struggling to damage Heatran, which makes Volcarona's cleaning much easier. Choice Scarf Buzzwole threatens to revenge kill some of Volcarona's checks such as Choice Band Urshifu-R and Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Galvantula can help Volcarona deal with Water- and Flying-types such as Slowking and Mantine.

Safeguard and Substitute help Volcarona set up more easily, with Substitute also punishing weak U-turns from Pokemon like Tapu Koko.

Checks and Counters

Bug
--------
**Heatran**: Volcarona has no way to break through Heatran, which usually prevents it from threatening Steel teams outright. Heatran can also cripple Volcarona with Toxic, phaze it with Roar, or attack it.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Special walls such as Blissey, Tyranitar, and Cradily take very little from Volcarona's attacks even with boost and can take advantage of it with status or outright KO it.

**Revenge Killers**: Even when boosted, Volcarona can be revenge killed by threats such as Choice Scarf Victini, Choice Scarf Nihilego, and Barraskewda and Kingdra in rain.

**Status**: Status moves severely hinder Volcarona's sweeping potential, as paralysis leaves it outsped by common threats such as Excadrill and Urshifu-R and Toxic poison puts it on a timer.

Because of Volcarona's wide movepool, it can threaten to sweep almost any team with coverage like Psychic and Giga Drain taking care of potential checks like Toxapex and Gastrodon. Access to recovery in Roost (and Giga Drain, somewhat) also helps Volcarona gain multiple boosts setup opportunities in a single match, which can make it very difficult to deal with. However, Volcarona struggles with 4MSS, as it cannot fit all its potential options in Flamethrower, Psychic, Giga Drain, Bug Buzz, and Roost in one set, which often makes it reliant on the opponent's lack of knowledge of its set to sweep. Volcarona also is crippled by status conditions and Knock Off, as it is reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to switch in safely on entry hazards.

Swarm can be used in conjunction with Bug Buzz to punish Galarian Slowking for increased damage output.

Every Pokemon on Bug appreciates Volcarona's unmatched late-game sweeping potential. Scizor is a great partner for Volcarona, as it can switch into and deal with Rock-type Pokemon like moves from the likes of Tyranitar and Cradily that would threaten Volcarona out, as well as facilitate Volcarona's sweep through removing the opposing team's items with Knock Off. It is also a great switch-in to status and opposing Knock Off directed at Volcarona. Hazard support from the likes of Shuckle, Golisopod and Araquanid is also very helpful for Volcarona. [Make a mention of Galvantula and how its great against Water- and Flying-type Pokemon.]

Mention heracross for general wall breaking, buzz can’t break defensive cores easily. Scarf Buzzwole is is nice at revenge killing faster threats that can just pivot or check volc like scarf lando, hob thundurus, band urshifu. Qc 2/2
