[OVERVIEW]

Volcarona carves a place for itself in the DOU metagame as both a niche but effective redirector and a powerful setup sweeper. Volcarona's Fire typing lets it safely redirect Steel- and Ice-type moves, which partners like Kyurem-B and Dragapult appreciate, while access to a strong STAB move in Overheat threatens Grass-types like Rillaboom and Tsareena that ignore Rage Powder. Its excellent base 100 Speed outspeeds most common threats, such as Urshifu-R and Kyurem-B, allowing Volcarona to provide effective speed control with Tailwind. Volcarona's strong supporting toolkit pairs well with aggressive partners that enjoy speed control and redirection such as Landorus and Zygarde. Volcarona can also burn through the opposing team as a setup sweeper thanks to a powerful setup move in Quiver Dance and a STAB spread move in Heat Wave. It is difficult to revenge kill, as it outspeeds almost all relevant Pokemon, even Choice Scarf users, at +1 and resists Grassy Glide. Volcarona struggles to threaten bulky Fire- and Water-types like Incineroar, Heatran, Volcanion, and Tapu Fini; Pokemon like Rillaboom and Zeraora can help provide space for Volcarona to set up by offering Fake Out support and breaking down bulky Water-types, while partners such as Landorus and Urshifu-R can help remove Fire-types. Redirectors such as Indeedee-F, Blastoise, and Amoonguss can help facilitate Volcarona's setup with Follow Me or Rage Powder. Unfortunately, no matter what set it runs, Volcarona is still weak to physical threats like Urshifu-R, Incineroar, and Zygarde. Thanks to its weakness to Rock, Volcarona also folds to Rock-types like Diancie and Nihilego, which can easily stomach any attack from Volcarona and OHKO it in return. Additoinally, it is often forced to use Heavy-Duty Boots to avoid being severely crippled by Stealth Rock.

[SET]
name: Support
move 1: Rage Powder
move 2: Overheat
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Tailwind
item: Sitrus Berry / Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Flame Body
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Rage Powder allows Volcarona to redirect Ice- and Steel-type attacks from Pokemon like Metagross and Kyurem-B, giving partners such as Dragon Dance Dragapult and Kyurem-B and Shift Gear Genesect opportunities to set up safely.

* Overheat is Volcarona's STAB move, and provides Volcarona with an offensive presence by threatening KOs on Pokemon like Genesect and Metagross, as well as massive damage to Rillaboom.

* Will-O-Wisp cripples strong physical attackers such as Urshifu-R, Zygarde, and Dragon Dance Kyurem-B before they have a chance to move.

* Tailwind allows Volcarona to provide speed control and assist strong allies such as Urshifu-R and Landorus.

* Maximum Speed and HP investment with a Timid nature helps Volcarona fulfill its support role by making it as fast and bulky as possible.

* A Sitrus Berry increases Volcarona's longevity; for example, it lets Volcarona survive two Sludge Bombs from a Life Orb Naganadel. Heavy-Duty Boots can also be used, but Support Volcarona is typically sent in early and aggressively.

* Flame Body allows Volcarona to burn physical attackers, such as Rillaboom or Tsareena. It also discourages foes like Zeraora from targeting Volcarona.

[SET]
name: Quiver Dance
move 1: Quiver Dance
move 2: Heat Wave
move 3: Bug Buzz
move 4: Protect
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Sitrus Berry
ability: Flame Body
nature: timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Quiver Dance boosts Volcarona's Speed, bulk, and power, allowing it to sweep late-game. Notably, Volcarona outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, and even most Choice Scarf users, at +1.

* Heat Wave is Volcarona's main attacking spread move, threatening the likes of Rillaboom and Metagross while hitting neutral targets for strong damage after a Quiver Dance.

* Bug Buzz is Volcarona's secondary STAB move, which also deals more damage to a single target than Heat Wave. It also provides important coverage against Psychic-types like Mew and Necrozma, as well as Fire resistant foes like Incineroar and Zygarde.

* Protect lets Volcarona keep itself safe while its partners, such as Zeraora, enter the field to support it.

* Since Quiver Dance Volcarona is typically reserved for late-game sweeps when Stealth Rock is more likely to be on the field, it appreciates Heavy-Duty Boots to alleviate its weakness to Stealth Rock. A Sitrus Berry can be used to help Volcarona increase its longevity, helping it setup easier against opposing Pokemon.

* 252 Special Attack EVs and 252 Speed EVs with a Timid nature maximizes Volcarona's offensive potential byoutspeeding common offensive threats like Urshifu-R, Kyurem-B and Zygarde, as well as most Choice Scarf users such as Tapu Fini after a Quiver Dance.

* Flame Body allows Volcarona to burn physical attackers, discouraging Fake Out users like Zeraora from targeting it. Additionally, burns can also give Volcarona easier set up opportunities.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Support Volcarona can run Whirlwind to phase out setup sweepers and Trick Room setters before they can set Trick Room. Giga Drain and Psychic are options over Bug Buzz on the Quiver Dance set; Giga Drain at +1 provides an OHKO on Urshifu-R and a 2HKO on Tapu Fini, while Psychic hits foes like Volcanion for more damage than any of its other options.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Volcarona has a Bug/Fire typing, not Fire/Bug.
  • Wording for the first sentence is very messy, along with the second not needing to be its own sentence. I would make it along the lines of "Volcarona's access to Rage Powder, along with its useful resistances to Grass- and Ice-type moves from Rillaboom and Kyurem-B, respectively, allow it to serve as a good redirector for some teams." (You don't have to match my example word per word, which is why i included the point about the typing despite me cutting it. Just follow the general flow and structure of it.)
  • "An additionally excellent" is not only messy, but a bit overselling it, along with the rest of the sentence. "Volcarona's ability, Flame Body, can potentially cripple physical attackers with a burn, while its high SpA can allow it to exert decent offensive pressure, particularly on the Grass-types immune to Rage Powder" is a something that could work here. (again: no need to follow word-per-word, just the general flow)
  • I would focus on saying how Volcarona can redirect certain moves (i.e, Steel- and Fighting-type moves for Kyurem-B) for certain partners, rather than types as a whole.
  • Mentioning Volcarona's resits is unnecessary due to it being primarily a support mon. I also don't know how much I like the CB zygarde example, but that one if pretty subjective.
  • This is going to be a lot so buckle up. First off: you didn't mention Quiver Dance at all. It's a main set, so it needs to be mentioned, especially with how vastly different it is from its support set. Include it.
  • Other things you should mention are Volcarona's other moves, along with the speed tier. Those three traits set it apart from other redirectors and are extremely important in what makes Volcarona good.
  • For support's weaknesses, I would lump in Diancie with Urshifu-R and remove Zygarde, while changing the wording to say how both of them can outright OHKO it, and mention how Volcarona can subvert that weakness somewhat via wisp.
  • Mention how passive support Volcarona can be, especially if it's running Overheat.
  • This was pretty messy but i'll refine it more after you implement this check.
[SUPPORT]
  • Change the name to just "Support." Volcarona does way more than just redirection.
  • "Will-o-wisp" is "Will-O-Wisp" and timid is capitalized.
  • Not mentioning speed control is good, due to Volcarona being able to set Tailwind+it not being good in Trick Room. However I would once again use move types rather and then list examples of Pokemon that use them ("Ice- and Steel-type moves from the likes of Kyurem-B and Metagross." is a good example of this) rather than just Pokemon.
  • Overheat line is fine.
  • I would say how wisp allows Volcarona to support its team further and partially patch up its low defense.
  • I wouldn't use Genesect and Kyurem-B as examples, due to them already boosting their speed. I would mention different benefactors for tailwind (if any) while also removing the specific examples for threats they outspeed, as it isn't JUST for a select few Pokemon.
  • The line about Volcarona's speed is unnecessarily wordy. Do something along the lines of "Max speed and a Timid nature allow Volcarona to outspeed Pokemon like Urshifu-R and Zygarde to burn them or set Tailwind." Second sentence is fine.
  • Remove the section about the alternate EV spread.
  • Sitrus Berry increases general longevity, not bulk. The line about turning 2HKOs into 3HKOs can also be misleading. I would first mention how Sitrus increases longevity, and then mention the Dragapult calc in the same line.
  • I would just say how Volcarona punishes contact moves in general. Examples are fine but be sure to mention specific mons and the moves Flame Body punishes i.e: Rillaboom's Grassy Glide, Zeraora's Fake Out (In fact, focusing on Fake Out in general might be a good idea here.)
[QUIVER DANCE]
  • Name the set "Quiver Dance," no need to be specific.
  • Line about Quiver Dance is too general. Just mention how it increases its speed, bulk, and power and then provide specific examples.
  • Mention specific targets for Heat Wave.
  • For the lines about Giga Drain and Psychic, they can be combined into one by mentioning how both OHKO Urshifu-R after a Quiver Dance, and Giga Drain 2HKOs Fini after a Dance, is boosted by Grassy Terrain, and provides recovery, while Psychic hits neutral targets such as Volcanion harder.
  • Line about protect can be shortened by just mentioning it keeps Volcarona safe while allowing a teammate to pivot in and support it.
  • I would just say how Sitrus increases general longevity, especially as most DDance Kyurem-B's run 252 Adamant nowadays anyways.
  • Just say how the speed EVs and nature maximize Volcarona's offensive potential.
  • You don't have to say EVs for both HP and SpD, just the latter of the two works. You can also just say max attack Kyurem-B instead of 252+.
  • Be specific about the SpA EVs by mentioning what move OHKOs Urshifu-R at +1.
  • Copying lines from the previous set is a no-no. You want to reword it so that it says the same thing but is still different in this scenario.
[Other Options]
  • For the other options section, you need to clarify which set you are referring to. So for the first line, you would clarify that its for the support set (I would never run a single target move on Quiver Dance).
  • Mention the differences between Flamethrower and Fiery Dance (More power vs. ability to boost).
  • Add Kyurem-B to the list of what Bug Buzz hits.
  • Mystical Fire just sounds like a worse Struggle Bug altogether due to it having an immunity and only being single target. Its low damage also doesn't warrant it over any other fire move.
  • For the drawbacks of Struggle Bug and U-turn, I would say that they are simply less effective than the rest of Volcarona's moves rather than sacrificing its role are a redirector.

Implement and tag when done.

bop

[OVERVIEW]
  • You want to write both sets into a single overview, not each into its own individual one.
  • Mentioning specific stat numbers is unnecessary, you can just use adjectives like "high" and "great" instead.
  • For both sets, mention good partners for both. (i.e DDance Kyurem-B for Support, Rillaboom for QD)
  • You kinda want to say what all Volcarona can set up on, because setting up on kyube (sometimes) and rilla is really big for it.
[SUPPORT]
  • Its just Landorus, not Landorus-I. Also the ending of the Tailwind line (on the next turn) is unnecessary, cut it.
[QUIVER DANCE]

  • First off change the set to QD/Heat Wave/Bug Buzz/Protect. Volcarona teams should have a way around water-types regardless.
  • You want to make the main focus of the Quiver Dance line the fact that it turns volcarona into a sweeping threat. Right now you frame added bonuses as the reason you use quiver dance.
  • Heat Wave is spread, mention that.
  • Be more specific about sitrus
[OTHER OPTIONS]
  • Struggle Bug "crippling" special attackers is overselling it. Tone it down.
  • Remove Bug Buzz.
Implement and i'll look over this one more time.

hehe

[OVERVIEW]
  • The wording in the first line makes it seem like those three moves are all Volcarona has in terms of a support movepool. Reword it so it highlights those specific moves, but still suggests it has a larger support movepool.
  • It's Ice- and Steel-type moves, not just types.
Ok so next thing is going over the Spelling and Grammar Standards, this needs it. Outside of that this is a massive improvement.

we'll deal with the overview later.

Support Set
  • Slash HDB second. Sitrus first because this typically gets sent in earlier and more aggressively.
  • Mention that Tailwind in particular helps for strong allies. Most of the time, when you have to name examples, you mention the general thing first before specific examples e.g., "strong allies such as Ursh and Lando"
  • All that max Timid really matters for is making sure Tailwind goes first, mention this point solely.
QD
  • Item should be HDB first, Sitrus second. QD Moth typically gets sent in later, where Rocks typically are already up
  • Spread should be max max. Change point on spread accordingly. Emphasize importance of Timid for outrunning most Scarfers at +1
  • All the benchmarks you mention for QD unnecessary. Build on second point better, take from other analyses with boosting moves (Zygarde, Kyurem-B) for reference.
  • Buzz is important SE coverage for Psychics like Mew and Necro.
OO
  • Remove HDB because ^
  • Don't even mention the other Fire moves.
  • Don't mention Struggle Bug and U-turn. Mention only Whirlwind.
inform me somewhere when implemented

overview
  • we need to cut the length a bit here on the first sentence, it's honestly info overload and a lot of the supportive parts are repeated later anyway. Just do the latter part for your lead, and mention that it's good both at being a redirect and a set up sweeper.
  • Remove flame body bit, not important.
  • Condense the part about it redirecting the types you mentioned and the point about being good into the Grasses which ignore RP into one bit, this is a good point to emphasize. Follow it up with the point about its Speed and Tailwind access. The combination of these two are what make RP Volc good.
  • Bad physical bulk and losing to Diancie, Ursh, and Moth apply to both so this should go at the end. Don't mention bad coverage for RP bit, it's a support mon so it does not matter.
  • Saying Moth can be passive post-Overheat isn't really true since it's a redirector with Wisp / Tailwind. Just remove this.
  • Saying it's good into Glide is good, singling Ice Beam / Spear is odd. It'd be better to just shift this a bit to instead say it's different to revenge kill because Glide rests + outruns meta scarfers at +1.
  • Remove coverage moves bit. Shift the point about wanting Fake Out support up since it applies only to QD. Add mentions of redirectors (Ind, Toise) too.
  • Mention the bad phys bulk, bad coverage, and hard loses to specific stuff point at the end.
tell me somewhere when this is done.

  • Mention that it's both a redirector and a set up sweeper in your lead sentence. this is the part where you introduce the pokemon and both sets have equal standing. Think of the structure of the overview like this: Lead sentence that talks about both -> RP Volc -> QD Volc -> Weaknesses of both.
    • i already told you to do this in the last check, please do qc checks more diligently in the future.
  • I'm pretty sure you had a part where you were actually mentioned things that appreciate having steel and ice moves redirected. mention them.
  • Again, remove the tendency to be passive part because it's both unnecessary and literally untrue.
  • For things its weak to, add a point that's specific to meta rock types such as Nihi and Diancie, which turbo wall it (and diancie even ignores RP)
  • Add a point for rocks, and mention that it more or less pigeonholes Moth into being HDB
tell me in the discord channel if uve done this

move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Tailwind
item: Sitrus Berry / Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Flame Body
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Rage Powder allows Volcarona to redirect Ice- and Steel-type attacks from Pokemon like Metagross and Kyurem-B, allowing giving partners such as Dragon Dance Dragapult, Dragon Dance Dragapult and Kyurem-B and Shift Gear Genesect to setup opportunities to set up safely.

* Overheat is Volcarona's STAB move, and allows Volcarona to maintain an provides Volcarona with an offensive presence by threatening KOs on Pokemon like Genesect and Metagross, as well as massive damage to meta staples such as Rillaboom.

* Will-O-Wisp allows Volcarona to cripple cripples strong physical attackers such as Urshifu-R, Zygarde, and Dragon Dance Kyurem-B before they have a chance to move.

* Tailwind allows Volcarona to provide speed control and assist strong allies such as Urshifu-R and Landorus. is this supposed to be Landorus-T? If I, this is correct as is

* 252 Speed EVs with a Timid Nature allows Volcarona to set Tailwind faster. The rest of the EVs are dumped into HP and Def to make Volcarona as bulky as possible. Maximum Speed and HP investment with a Timid nature help Volcarona fulfill its support role by making it as fast and bulky as possible.

* A Sitrus Berry increases Volcarona's longevity, such as allowing Volcarona to including letting it survive two Sludge Bombs from a Life Orb Naganadel. Heavy-Duty Boots can also be used, but Support Volcarona is typically sent in early and aggressively.

* Flame Body allows Volcarona to burn physical attackers as it switches in, such as Rillaboom or Tsareena. It also discourages foes like Zeraora from using contact moves such as Fake Out on Volcarona lest they risk the potential for a crippling burn discourages Fake Out users like Zeraora from targeting Volcarona.

[SET]
name: Quiver Dance
move 1: Quiver Dance
move 2: Heat Wave
move 3: Bug Buzz
move 4: Protect
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Sitrus Berry
ability: Flame Body
nature: timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Quiver Dance boosts Volcarona's Speed, bulk, and power, allowing it to sweep late-game. Notably, this powerful setup move lets Volcarona outspeed Volcarona outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, (comma) and even most Choice Scarf users, (comma) at +1.

* Heat Wave is Volcarona's main attacking spread move, threatening the likes of Rillaboom and Metagross while even hitting neutral targets for strong damage after a Quiver Dance.

* Bug Buzz is Volcarona's secondary STAB move, allowing Volcarona to deal which also deals more damage to a single target than Heat Wave. Psychic-type Pokemon like Mew and Necrozma are hit hard by Bug Buzz, and Volcarona does considerably more damage to Pokemon that resist Heat Wave like Incineroar and Zygarde with Bug Buzz It also provides important coverage against Psychic-types like Mew and Necrozma, as well as Fire resistant foes like Incineroar and Zygarde.

* 252 SpA Special Attack EVs and 252 Speed EVs with a Timid Nature nature maximizes Volcarona's offensive potential. The Speed investment and Timid nature allows Volcarona to outspeed potential by outspeeding common offensive threats like Urshifu-R, Kyurem-B and Zygarde, as well as outspeeding most Choice Scarf users such as Tapu Fini after one a Quiver Dance.

* Flame Body allows Volcarona to burn physical attackers that attack it, discouraging Fake Out users like Zeraora from targeting it. These burns on physical attackers Additionally, burns can also give Volcarona an easier time setting up easier set up opportunities.

Other Options
=============

Support Volcarona can run Whirlwind, allowing it Whirlwind to phase out setup sweepers and Trick Room setters before they can set Trick Room. Volcarona may use Giga Drain or Psychic as a secondary STAB and coverage option on its Quiver Dance set instead of Bug Buzz, allowing an OHKO on Urshifu-R after a single Quiver Dance, or a 2HKO on Tapu Fini with Giga Drain after a single Quiver Dance, while Psychic allows Volcarona to hit foes like Volcanion for more damage Giga Drain and Psychic are options over Bug Buzz on the Quiver Dance set; Giga Drain at +1 provides an OHKO on Urshifu-R and a 2HKO on Tapu Fini, while Psychic hits foes like Volcanion for more damage than any of its other options.
