So I've been having a decent deal of success battling online (>150) with a particular team. I just thought it might be nice to hear people's opinions on it, as I'd love to even just switch in some alternatives every now and again for fun! The main theme of the team is to ruin physical attackers with burn, to Volt-Turn between Talonflame, Rotom-W, and Mega Scizor, and to finish off weak mons with priority attacks from Mamoswine, Talonflame, and Mega Scizor.
1. Mamoswine
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Oblivious
Item: Focus Sash
EVs: 252 in Attack, 252 in Speed, 4 in HP
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Icicle Crash
Ice Shard
I usually lead with this, unless I see something in team preview that I really need to taunt using Greninja. His main goal is to lay down a Stealth Rock and then either get outta there, or go for a KO with Icicle Crash or Earthquake. Focus Sash and Oblivious lets him get at least the Stealth Rock down. The only thing I fear is a Scarf'd Cloyster with Rock Blast, which I switch to Rotom-W to burn or zap.
2. Greninja
Nature: Timid
Ability: Protean
Item: Life Orb
EVs: 252 in Special Attack, 252 in speed, 4 in HP.
Ice Beam
Dark Pulse
Scald
Taunt
Greninja is my alternative lead when it's imperative that I taunt their lead. Mainly this tends to be opposing Smeargles, as I can get down some spikes too if they go for an electric attack to follow up. He also lets me blow holes in dragons and ghosts with omni-STAB Ice Beam and Dark Pulse. He also nicely lets me switch in on (particularly physical) psychic attacks that target Tentacruel. He's also important for taunting opposing Aegislashes from dancing and Kings Shield-ing.
3. Rotom-W
Nature: Bold
Ability: Levitate
Item: Chesto Berry
EVs: 252 in HP, 252 in Defense, 4 in Special Attack
Will-O-Wisp
Hydro Pump
Volt Switch
Rest
Rotom-W's primary function is as a physical wall, to tank hits from opposing Talonflames, and to burn other physical attackers. It can also serve to threaten those expecting a special sweeping Rotom and go for a Volt switch to grab some momentum. Rest allows it to stall out poisoned or burned walls too.
4. Tentacruel
Nature: Calm
Ability: Liquid Ooze
Item: Black Sludge
EVs: 252 in HP, 252 in Special Defense, 4 in Defense
Scald
Haze
Rapid Spin
Toxic Spikes
Tentacruel is my special wall, hazer and spinner. Bit of a Swiss Army Knife when I'm up against a variety of things than threaten the rest of my team. Scald gives me a chance to burn physical switch-ins, and deals good damage to those weak to water. I normally just put down a single layer of toxic spikes, but sometimes go for a second layer if I know some serious fat is waiting to threaten my team later on. Acts as a great switch in to fire attacks targeting Scizor, and becomes weaponised when switching into a Leech Seed!
5. Scizor
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
Item: Scizorite
EVs: 248 in HP, 112 in Attack, and 148 in Special Defense
U-Turn
Roost
Pursuit
Bullet Punch
My mid-game sweeper, Scizor gets a lot of opportunities to switch in when there's a psychic aimed at Tentacruel or a grass attack at Rotom. Bullet Punch utterly destroys all fairy types. If he's revenge killing, I normally go for a Bullet Punch if I'm not worried about a switch, a Pursuit if I am, and a U-Turn or Roost if I don't care about the switch. Roost also gives the chance to stall out burned or poisoned mons.
6. Talonflame
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Gale Wings
Item: Choice Band
EVs: 252 attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Brave Bird
Flare Blitz
U-Turn
Will-O-Wisp
My late-game sweeper, though sometimes I'll lead with him if the team has no glaring stealth rock weakness, and quickly U-Turn outta there. Brave Bird decks things like grass types that Rotom fears, and Flare Blitz nukes Ferrothorns. Will-O-Wisp has caught a lot of people off guard, particularly when using physical Aegislashes, Sucker Punching Mawilles, and Dragon Dancing Dragonites.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated. I've been thinking of switching up my Tentacruel and replacing Toxic Spikes with Giga Drain now that that's available.
