[SET]
Utility (Tinkaton) @ Leftovers / Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 152 SpD / 104 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gigaton Hammer
- Encore / Knock Off
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave / Knock Off

[SET COMMENTS]

Tinkaton is a good entry hazard setter due to its strong defensive typing and access to a variety of utility moves that cannot be blocked by Magic Bounce Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Hatterene or by Gholdengo's Good as Gold thanks to Mold Breaker bypassing the effects of their abilities. Tinkaton sets itself apart from other hazard setters thanks to options like Encore and its ability to check prominent offensive Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Mega Latios. Tinkaton utilizes Encore to lock hazard setters and removers like Landorus-T and Gliscor into passive moves, while also being able to prevent Pokemon from freely setting up on it, especially Pokemon such as Gholdengo and Hatterene whose abilities are nullified by Mold Breaker. Stealth Rock is also affected by Mold Breaker, and allows Tinkaton to set up Stealth Rocks on Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye without fear of them being bounced back. Thunder Wave cripples faster Pokemon and switch-ins such as Mega Charizard Y and Ogerpon-W who don't mind taking a Gigaton Hammer or Knock Off and gives Tinkaton a more positive matchup into offensive teams and Terapagos, while still having a way to threaten Gholdengo. Knock Off removes Leftovers and Rocky Helmet from Ground-types that like to switch into Tinkaton like Landorus-T, Great Tusk, and Ting-Lu, while also taking away Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Zapdos and Alomomola. Tinkaton appreciates the added longevity from Leftovers so it can more consistently set up Stealth Rock and check Tapu Lele, but Air Balloon is another option allowing it to set up Stealth Rock or Encore in the face of Pokemon like Gliscor, Garchomp, and Dragonite. 104 Speed EVs allow Tinkaton to outspeed Timid Raging Bolt and Encore it.

Tinkaton fits on Balance and Bulky Offense teams needing a Stealth Rocker that also functions as a check to the Psychic- and Fairy- types. Sun teams fall into this category as well, and Tinkaton often finds itself on these archetypes for the sheer amount of role compression it provides. Powerful Dragon-types such as Mega Latios, Raging Bolt, and Kyurem are capable of breaking down balanced structures, but get outpaced by offensive titans such as Tapu Lele, opposing Mega Latios, and Iron Valiant, and Tinkaton can check all of them while setting up Stealth Rock or threatening to slow them down with Thunder Wave. Tinkaton does poorly into Fire-Types such as Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Heatran, and the aforemented Dragon-types can pivot in on moves from them and threaten huge damage. Other teammates that can help against Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona include Moltres and Toxapex, with the former also being able to take on Ground- and Fighting-types for Tinkaton, such as Landorus-T and Great Tusk, as well as Gholdengo, who Tinkaton has an issue with damaging. Zamazenta and Mega Lopunny love Tinkaton's ability to disrupt Galarian Slowking and Toxapex with Encore and Knock Off, and in return they can put pressure on Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, Kingambit, and Iron Treads. Tinkaton pairs well with Spikes setters such as Gliscor, Hisuian Samurott, and Ting-Lu, in which they create a hazard stacking core where Tinkaton can Knock Off Heavy-Duty Boots. In addition, Tinkaton checks Ice-types like Weavile and Kyurem for them, and in response pokemon like Gliscor and other Flying-types such as Landorus-T and Zapdos provide a Ground-type immunity. The aforementioned Flying-types can provide Defog support for the team and benefit from Tinkaton often disrupting opposing hazard setters such as Heatran and Clefable.

Finally, Tinkaton doesn't do much damage, and can be paired with wallbreakers like Mega Latios or Mega Medicham that poke holes in the opposing team in exchange for paralysis support. i feel this is kinda a nothingy point, its functions isnt rly to break, its to function as a support mon

Tinkaton is a good entry hazard setter due to its strong defensive typing and access to a variety of utility moves that cannot be blocked by Magic Bounce Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Hatterene. Mention how its moves work on Gholdengo in this sentence. Stealth Rock is also affected by Mold Breaker, and allows Tinkaton to set up Stealth Rocks without fear of them being bounced back. Can you turn the previous two sentences into one? This kinda reads just like dex info unless its expressly stated what Pokemon your setting rocks against.

Mention Sun teams here as well, a good amount of the high level play Tink sees is on Yard sun teams because they really appreciate its role compression. Powerful Dragon-types such as Mega Latios, Raging Bolt, and Kyurem are capable of breaking down balanced structures, but get outpaced by offensive titans such as Tapu Lele, opposing Mega Latios, and Iron Valiant, and Tinkaton can check all of these while setting up Stealth Rock or threatening to slow them down with Thunder Wave. In return, these powerful Dragon-types can pivot in on Fire-type moves from the likes of Mega Charizard Y and Heatran, as well as Ivy Cudgels from Ogerpon-W, and threaten massive damage. Tinkaton does poorly into Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona, and therefore appreciates support from Pokemon such as Moltres or Toxapex, with the former also taking on Ground- and Fighting-types for Tinkaton, such as Landorus-T and Great Tusk, as well as Gholdengo, who Tinkaton has an issue with damaging. Can you move this up to where you talk about Dragon-types checking Fire-types?
