So I have played pokemon since the very beginning but didn't really take a look at the competitive scene until around platinum. Now that X/Y makes it incredibly easy to build a competitive team with relative ease with the introduction of the friend safari, super training, and the shear egg production rate (I swear everything breeds like rabbits) I am now ready to sit down with my DS and build away. I do not take this endeavor lightly and as such have been testing on pokemon showdown fairly religiously playing around with my options to make an optimal team before spending 30+ hours iv farming and super training. The team shown below is currently my best team concoction but I feel like there is a gaping hole somewhere that should be filled with a few substitutions I haven't though of.
Notes: Greninja and Aegislash are permanently locked into the team as I already have them maxed in my game, oh and NO SUGGESTING LEGENDARIES (seriously, anyone who has THAT much patience doesn't get out much).
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change (duh)
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 SpD
Nature: Relaxed (+Def,-Spe)
-King's Shield
-Shadow Sneak
-Swords Dance
-Sacred Sword
Everyone's favorite trolling coat of arms, seriously I even can't remember how many times I have wrecked teams with little more than some good predictions with this guy. I use him as a standard swords dancer with Shadow Sneak and Sacred Sword for coverage as well as being a good switch in for most physical moves allowing for at least one good swords dance before they either switch in to a troublesome sweeper or a pesky wall that he can just smash through anyway.
Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP, 252 SpA, 4 SpD
Nature: Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
-Thunder Wave
-Swagger
-Dazzling Gleam
-Spikes
My standard opener designed for applying a status effect to whoever their front runner is and then proceeding to either set up spikes or stab them with Dazzling Gleam. It also makes a good switch-in against dragon types usually forcing a switch-out on their part as well as being able to handily take out annoying counter utility pokemon like espeon with only a few dazzling gleams.
Greninja @ Expert Belt
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Hasty (+Spe, -Def)
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Dark Pulse
-Shadow Sneak
Protean makes moves that normally hit like a truck suddenly hit like trains. Expert belt helps back up the wide coverage allowing any supper effective move be at most a 3 hit kill. Shadow sneak helps to hit squishy sweepers when low as well as being effective for spin blocking and granting immunity to fighting moves. I prefer to use his type changing ability for its versatility as a primary reason to use him over his main competition starmie.
Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def
Nature: Bold (+Hp, -Atk)
-Toxic
-Seismic Toss
-Protect
-Softboiled
Blissey helps take down pesky walls or stop heavy carries that had a chance to set up but prioritize special moves. Wrecking half their team with just a stalling fluffy egg is too satisfying for words. Unfortunately when they whip out most competitive ghost types her effectiveness drops a bit. Her reliance on toxic for the bulk of her damage means that gengar and aigeslash are her nightmare for switch-ins. Almost anything else that doesn't have STAB fighting can be brought down with a few toxic turns and another pokemon for a revenge kill.
Volcarona @ Lum Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
-Roost
-Fiery Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Quiver Dance
Mothra has cometh and in the form of a pokemon no less. This thing is monstrous and if given even a few quiver dances can sweep entire teams that don't have certain priority moves. Unfortunately its switch-in potential is limited especially with a 4x weakness to stealth rock. His STAB Fire and Bug moves allow him to kill off many top tier threats even without a set-up turn with quiver dance to the surprise of many an opponent.
Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant
-Quick Attack
-Return
-Close Combat
-Earthquake
Mega-Pinsir has so far done the best for me in the way of heavy damage and coverage on a mega. Stab Quick Attack is surprisingly effective and gets rid of most annoying grass and fighting types without a second thought as well as having some solid neutral coverage over the rest of the meta. The HP and built in Def also makes sure he can take at least one hit before getting squashed by most non super effective STAB moves.
In Conclusion: I Have found issues with having reliable switch-ins, Gliscors, and on occasion Talonflames.
