Warstory: When Dust Clears, Gengar Shouldn't Have Focus Blast

Hold on!!! Need to put in pictures and format it!

First off, WOOT!!! First warstory. I apologize in advance for any parts that may seem unreal, but I made this after the battle. In-game text may also appear strange, but again, made after the battle. All damage percentages are estimates for the record, and where I can’t remember them, I just guess, but I still think they’re pretty accurate.

A long time ago, in a place far, far away, two Pokemon trainers faced off in a battle that would rely entirely on unexpected moves, the infamous Flinchax, and a lot of stuff missing to let the other Trainer win.

Andren’s Team:

Gyarados
Electivire
Evil Birdy (Togekiss)
Tangrowth
Porygon-Z
Wiivile

xDominatorzx’s (Shortened to “X”) Team:

Staraptor
Gyarados
Bronzong
Empoleon
Kadabra* (Alakazam)
Gengar

The two competitors flung out their PokeBalls, each holding their hopes, their dreams…eh, who cares. I’ll get on with the story.

Gyarados’s Intimidate lowers foe Staraptor’s Attack!
Foe Staraptor’s Intimidate lowers Gyarados’s Attack!

Uh oh, already lowered attack. Time to Dance it off!

Staraptor went back to X!
X sent out Gyarados!
Foe Gyarados’s Intimidate lowers Gyarados’s Attack!
Gyarados used Dragon Dance!
Gyarados’s Leftovers restored a bit of Gyarados’s health! (97%)

Um…okay, I’ve got -1 attack on Gyarados, his probably outspeeds mine, and I don’t have Stone Edge on mine. Genius.

Gyarados! Come back!
Andren sent out Tangrowth!
Foe Gyarados used Stone Edge! (80%)

Okay, time for Tangrowth to put something to Sleep and earn some respect! You can do it Mojanbo!!!

X withdrew Gyarados!
X sent out Bronzong!
Tangrowth used Sleep Powder!
Foe Bronzong fell asleep!

Okay, not what I was really trying to put to sleep, but whatever, I’ll take it.

X withdrew Bronzong!
X sent out Gyarados!
Foe Gyarados lowers Tangrowth’s Attack!
Tangrowth used Leech Seed!
Foe Gyarados was seeded!
Foe Gyarados’s health was sapped by Leech Seed! (95%)

Again, whatever, I’ll take it.

Foe Gyarados used Flamethrower!
It’s super effective! (20%)
Tangrowth used Power Whip! (65%)

Oh, shit! What kind of Gyarados is this?! Stone Edge and Flamethrower? Okay, I’ve gotta sacrifice Tangrowth for the good of the cause.

Tangrowth fainted!

5-6 to X

Andren sent out Evil Birdy!
Evil Birdy used Thunder Wave!
Foe Gyarados is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
Foe Gyarados is fully paralyzed! It can’t move!

Um…wow. Wasn’t expecting that to happen.

Evil Birdy used Air Slash! (30%)
Gyarados flinched!

Hell yeah! First time that’s happened! Well, actually it’s the first time I’ve done that, but who cares?

Evil Birdy used Air Slash!
Evil Birdy’s attack missed!
Foe Gyarados used Stone Edge!
It’s super effective (0%)

4-6 to X

I’m like “What?!?!?!” Okay, here’s the part where I can’t really remember, so I’ll do my best.

Andren sent out Gyarados!
Gyarados lowers foe Gyarados’s Attack!
X withdrew Gyarados!
X sent out Kadabra!

At this point, seeing only the name, I’m like “WTF is this guy doing?” but then I realize it’s an Alakazam…crud. From now on, Kadabra=Alakazam

Gyarados used Waterfall! (40%)
Alakazam used Psychic! (50%)

Okay, I think I need Gyarados for Intimidation later, so time to switch!

Andren withdrew Gyarados!
Andren sent out Wiivile!
Alakazam used Psychic!
It doesn’t effect Wiivile…

Yes! Go noobish prediction! Thinking he’d switch, I do the following:

Wiivile used Pursuit!
It’s super effective! (1%)
Alakazam used Focus Blast!
It’s super effective!
Wiivile’s Chople Berry lowered Focus Blast’s power! (0%)

3-6 to X

Mental note: Get Wiivile a new item. At this point, I’m thinking there’s a 100% chance I’ll lose, but I’m going out fighting!

Andren sent out Electivire!
Foe Alakazam used Psychic! (60%)
Electivire used ThunderPunch (0%)

3-5 to X

Yes! I killed something! There’s hope!

X sent out Empoleon!
Electivire used ThunderPunch! (0%)

3-4 to X

Okay, it’s almost even, and Electivire’s still good. That’s good.

X sent out Bronzong!

Repeat this sequence for 3 turns:

Electivire used ThunderPunch! (35% each)
Bronzong is fast asleep!

3-3

Um…this sucks. I thought I was going to lose. WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU XDOMINATORZX?!?!?!

X sent out Staraptor!

Something happens here where Staraptor doesn’t die, and I get a Close Combat to the face. Electivire’s now at like…50 HP.

Andren withdrew Electivire!
Andren sent out Porygon-Z!

Um…Staraptor does something that doesn’t kill Porygon-Z now…can’t remember what. Sure thing: Porygon-Z isn’t faster than Staraptor.

Porygon-Z used Thunderbolt! (0%)

3-2 to Andren

Okay, I know he has Gyarados and something else. Just don’t be Gengar, please, please don’t be Gengar!

X sent out Gengar!

Shit, it’s Gengar!

Andren withdrew Porygon-Z!
Andren sent out Gyarados!
Intimidate->Gengar
Gengar used Substitute! (76%)

I know what’s coming now. A Focus Punch to the face.

Gengar used Focus Blast!
Gengar’s attack missed!
Gyarados used Waterfall!
Gengar’s Substitute faded!

Um…what? Focus Blast? Weird.

Gyarados used Waterfall!
Gengar’s Substitute faded!

Um…no comment here. Nothing gigantic.

Gengar’s Salac Berry activates!
Gyarados comes and gives Gengar a Waterfall in the face!
Gengar’s Substitute faded!

Okay, I didn’t think he had that extra 1%, so I went for something… Anyways, Gengar has 1% and a Sub up, Gyarados gets poisoned, and I’m left with a crippled Electivire, a Porygon-Z on 90% from Life Orb, and a really weakened Gyarados. Electivire and Gyarados are dead weight now, so it’s like a 2 on 1 now.

At this point, xDominatorzx would like to say something to the effect of: “I’m gonna pwn this guy with my Salac’ed up Gengar now!”

Porygon-Z used Thunderbolt! (PZ at 80%)
Gengar’s Substitute faded!

Yes!!! Now if only PZ could survive another turn this was mine.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I forgot he had it left!!! Oh, wait…It’s paralyzed…Nevermind.

And so, when the dust cleared, Andren was left with his crippled serpent and…human…generator…thing…and a Duck-Virus…thing.

Props:
Pory-Z winning it for me!
Air Slash flinching and Paralyzing Gyarados, which probably helped the outcome.
xDominatorzx for being a really good opponent.
Focus Blast missing! Yay!!!

Slops:
No Gengar counter.
Would’ve lost if Togekiss didn’t Paralyze and Flinch Gyarados.
Focus Blast almost killing me.

If xDominatorzx remembers anything differently, then he can post here saying what needs to be edited.
 
Was that my shiny Magikarp? Awesome comeback; I agree the metaphors were awesome. Staraptor was awesome during the first few rounds, but it fucked up in the end, though I use that same strategy with it (After Staraptor's Intimidate, U-Turn/switch to another Intimidate Pokemon for a -2 attack Pokemon.)
 
@ Juuka: Yeah, it's really good, despite the average Atk IV.

Thanks for the comments, but I really would've screwed up big time if it weren't for Gyarados. It helped a lot during the Gengar Substitue phase, and did a pretty good job the rest of the time, too.
 
I can visualize this happening:

After the opponent's horrific missage, he feels no need to let his Pokemon game live anymore. so, with a frown upon his face, he walks calmly out to his garage, where he sets up a peice of wood on a cutting surface. he then grabs his Chainsaw, and the neighbours comment on what the sound they hear from down the street is....

@The Man...(tyke): Yeah, really helped a bit, but got pwned by Stone Edge. It did a good job nonetheless.
 
ahh you messed up some stuff D:

I subbed down to a petaya berry and I believed I used sludge bomb instead of focus blast. <-- Who uses focus blast on a gyarados? I remember my starptor dying to your electivire's t-punch. Unless my memory serves me wrong. Anyways, nice story =D Real nice story =D

My editing is crud, but I do believe that is what actually happened.

Yay! Go Electivire w/o Motor Drive sweep! IIRC, it killed 4, and didn't die, lol.

lol, I finally figured which one of my pokemon's can survive that electivires t-punch. =D. But I know for sure I subbed down to a petaya berry for my gengar.

Yeah, and then you thought you would sweep. I started to get afraid when you first switched in Bronzong on Electivire. Thought you would send out your part of Gyaravire.

Where does the Petaya boost come in again? It was on Gyarados, but I can't remember specifically.

Before you switched out to porygon-z to finish my gengar off. It's basically the same place where you said my salac berry kicked in. I think you forgot to mention that you switched out though
