Weather Changers - A "What If" Thread

How would it affect the metagame if they had put a Drizzler and Droughter with stats that rendered them non-UBer into D/P?

With traits like Swift Swim, Chlorophyll, Leaf Guard, etc, how powerful do you think Rain Dance teams and their kin could be?

If say, they gave Golduck (or some other UU Water) Drizzle, would that be enough to catapult Rain Dance teams to the top?

Let the discussion begin, I guess.

To be completely honest, I want to see a Standard poke with perma Rain Dance/Sunny Day.

This way:
  • It helps to curb T-Tar
  • It encourages themed parties of pokes
  • Diversifies the Metagame
The only problem I have is with the Drizzler. Drizzler + Manaphy in standard = scary.

It would boost Rain Dance teams, but they're still restricted to Water types, an Electric type, and Toxicroak, basically (though Pokemon with Fire weaknesses would get a boost, the added power of Water moves balances that advantage out).

Sunny Day would increase the usage of Grass and Fire types.

However, a problem would be the constant switching of weather. For instance, a Drizzle/Sandstream Pokemon would instantly shut down Sunnybeamers, while Drought/Sandstream would destroy Thunderdancing.

I believe that Sandstorm would still be more common due to canceling out opponents' Leftovers, and the greater diversity of available Pokemon.

EDIT: Another reason that Sandstream would triumph would be the greater usability of Spikes/Stealth Rock, since everybody will be switching constantly, and many of the Pokemon that can learn these moves, as well as Rapid Spin, are immune to Sandstream.

Drought? Yes. But Drizzle? Rain Dance teams are fairly scary having to actually USE the move Rain Dance at the moment, they don't need another boost.

And no, Rain Dance teams are not in any way restricted to Water/Electric types and Pokemon with Dry Skin as a trait. Actually, they are probably even less restricted then Sandstream teams, as the Rain technically doesn't "hurt" Pokemon who aren't of the Water type, unlike Sandstorm, which hurts all Pokemon that aren't Rock/Ground/Steel.

Not directly, but it leaves neutral Pokemon a target for Surf/Waterfall, so your options are still restricted to an extent (unless you know something which I don't; please tell me if this is the case).

I guess that would be cool if they could add in more weather conditions, or not even weather conditions, just field conditions. For example, complete Darkness that helps Ghost/Dark/Psychics and lowers the accuracy of other Pokemon except for Fire and Electricity and the three that gets helped by it.

Why not make Water Sport and Mud Sport affect the field? I wonder why GameFreak never did this in DP. . .

Sorry but there have really been too many of these lately. Enough damn "what if" threads please.
