Weatherless Team

Yeah I can't really think of a name for this. It's the first team I'm posting here, I've been using it for a couple days with mixed success. I'm finding I've got a problem with Latios and Scrafty in general. It was kind of put together in one sitting, and already underwent a few little changes here and there. It probably needs a lot of work; not gonna lie, I'm pretty new to the whole battling scene, although I've been watching competitive battling for a while on Youtube. Anyway, here's the team:

images

Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- ExtremeSpeed
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Choice Band Dragonite. Occasionally use it as a lead, as most people assume a bulkier Dragonite, and then get hit by something a lot stronger than they're expecting. Throws people off from the get go. Also use it as a revenge killer, CB Extremespeed does wonders.

images

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon
- Tri Attack

Pretty much a dedicated Ferrothorn counter. This guy I've been having mixed success with; sometimes he does his job great, sometimes he doesn't. Without him, Ferrothorn's only threatened by Nidoking's Flamethrower. Outside of Ferrothorn, I'm seeing a trend that he has nothing to do and generally ends up as dead space on the team. Ideas with this guy?

Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower

I pretty much built the team starting here. I (quite stupidly) started with Sludge Wave over Flamethrower, but that got fixed after about two battles. General special sweeper, comes in on Toxic/Thunder Wave/resisted hits and hits things. I was considering at one point having something to pass boosts to him, but didn't know where to fit it. Replace Magnezone?

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock

Wall-lookin' guy. Another thing I'm having mixed success with though. He sets up rocks and takes hits no problem, but should I transform him into a screener? I've been definitely having mixed success with Gyro Ball. Earthquake proves useful from time to time; after popping Balloons, picks up some kills by taking a hit and KOing back. Done it to a few Excadrills, feels good.

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Surf

Had no problems with good old Jellicent, except that I'm wanting to switch Hex with Shadow Ball since I don't have Toxic Spikes on this team and only two status spreaders overall, including this one.

Rotom-C @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 144 HP / 252 SAtk / 112 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Trick
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch

Rotom-C has picked up some clutch ScarfTricks in my use of him. For some reason, people aren't seeing it coming if I don't lead with him and bring it in late game to do it. Anyway, Leaf Storm itself hasn't been so useful, and I more picked this typing so that it wasn't weak to Rocks and could take Leech Seeds from Ferrothorn and the odd Whimsicott and then cripple them with Trick if they decide to stay in and try to status me or otherwise set up.

Be vicious, I've got six bandaids and a tube of Polysporin.

I see your jelli is the only real wall on this team , this might hurt you alot as he is in my opinion very underwhelming as a double wall , better get him as a special wall and use a 2nd pokemon as a physical ( weaknesses of jelli are : dark ghost thunder grass)
Looks like a ferrothorn coud pair nicely with a jellicent ;)

You should switch Dragonite's ability from Inner Focus to Multiscale. It's better in every facet imaginable. To go along with what Soulfly said, you should try and fit a Ferrothorn on your team somewhere, probably over you Bronzong. He can provide a sponge for Dragon attacks, as well as provide good synergy with Jellicent. Something to note about Jellicent: one of the best things about him is his ability to break stall. I strongly suggest you switch Hex for Taunt. It will prevent walls from spreading and hazards, rendering them effectively useless, allowing you to status on their switch. By putting Ferrothorn on your team, you gain 3 Fire weak pokemon. This is less than ideal. To alleviate some of that stress, I suggest you switch Rotom-C for a Gliscor. It will give you a great Excadrill check, as well as cover the Fighting/Fire weaknesses you have atm. So, in summation:

Multiscale > Inner Focus
Ferrothorn > Bronzong
Taunt > Hex
Gliscor > Rotom-C

Hope I helped out. GLB.

I could have sworn when I was making the Dragonite that Multiscale couldn't be run with Extremespeed, but hey, it just worked, so thanks for making me revisit that. The Taunt over Hex suggestion makes a lot of sense, I don't know why I wasn't running that before, thanks. And I'll try the Ferro/Gliscor suggestions. Thanks both of you.

Hey there.

Assuming that you're using Gliscor over Rotom-C and Ferrothorn over Bronzong:

There are some threats that can destroy your team:
Sub + 3 Attack Landorus, Thundurus, Volcarona (Dragonite gets worn down by SR), Growth Venusaur with Sludge Bomb, DD Scrafty. Magnezone isn't really doing much for your team, so I suggest that you replace it with a Chansey in order to defeat most of these threats.

Wish Chansey
Chansey @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Protect
- Wish

Wish Chansey can provide crucial wish support to your team, especially Dragonite, who will get worn down easily by SR. Chansey can beat most variants of Thundurus, as well as defeat most variants of Volcarona (Resto-Chesto can be defeated by Dragonite) and Growth Venusaur.

Sadly, this does not solve all of your weaknesses. However, a Skarmory can defeat all of the threats that you are weak too. The least useful pokemon on your team now is Nidoking, so I suggest that you replace him; you could replace Jellicent though seeing as how you built the team around Nidoking.

Defensive Skarmory
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Speed
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Spikes

Skarmory can defeat Scrafty handily, as well most variantso of Landorus; it can also defeat other threats such as Dragonite. Skarmory also provides Spikes uspport for your team, and forms a very good defensive core along with Gliscor.

Hope I helped, and good luck!

Hey Swaggron,

I have a suggestion that might or might not help this team but I've used this pokemon on my own team and its a great weather counter IMO. This is the set I use.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Recover

You can switch this in on specs kingdra as its spamming surf and get a +1 spatt boost. Also, his ground typing is an excellent counter to thunderus, not sure if thats what you use Nidoking for though.

Good luck with your team it looks excellent!

Agreeing with the ferro over bronzong suggestion as well as the chansey suggestion.Nidoking's too slow for this gen so you should run something like Latios or Hydreigon.Specslatios or Expertbelthydreigon if you hate the pursuit weakness. You might wanna run Rotom-W over Rotom-C as it's much better this gen and more effective versus rain teams.

Though everyone has a great synergy to help each other out landorus can OHKO half your team.
Also Hp ICE can take out Rotom-C, which landorus can do. I suggest
having Gliscor to solve the problem instead of magnezone

Chansey over Magnezone I will definitely implement, like I said, Magnezone's been pretty useless. Thanks a lot for the sets, ShakeItUp.

I will try Expert Belt Hydreigon over Nidoking, as they pretty much serve the same purpose, and Skarmory over Jellicent and see how that works, it would be nice to have phaze support on this team as setup sweepers have been the bane of my existence if I can't get in with Jellicent in time.

Thanks for the suggestions, people. :)
