Icicle Crash avoids this chip damage while having a reliable damage output and a flinch chance; however, Icicle Crash does not always OHKO Mega Latias, so Triple Axel is preferred.

**Revenge Killers**: Due to Weavile's frailty, faster revenge killers such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Koko can outspeed it and threaten an OHKO with their STAB moves. Additionally, strong priority moves such as Mega Medicham's Fake Out, Greninja's Water Shuriken, and Rillaboom's Grassy Glide will all deal heavy damage to Weavile and should be avoided at all times.

**Steel-types**: Mega Scizor, Mega Mawile, and Melmetal all take minimal damage from Weavile and threaten to OHKO it in return. Mega Scizor deserves special mention, as it is an extremely consistent counter due to its longevity through Roost.

**Water-types**: Toxapex, Alomomola, and Tapu Fini, though they dislike the loss of their item, can switch into Weavile repeatedly over the course of the match and threaten it back with Scald burns or an OHKO after Stealth Rock in Tapu Fini's case. I'd recommend phrasing it as it hits the important benchmark of outrunning cinderace, as it outspeeds and threatens to OHKO common offensive Pokemon like Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Hydreigon there are definitely more relevant examples that can be used here with Triple Axel. Knock Off helps Weavile remove items from defensive answers such as Toxapex, Magearna, and Heatran while hitting offensive Pokemon like Cinderace, Mega Medicham, and Tapu Lele rather hard. Cham and Lele aren't bad mentions here per se but I'd like to see some things that aren't also OHKOd by Axel...Slowbro or Aegislash or something of that ilk. Spdef Heatran also really doesn't like Knock at all (it takes over half) so there might be something better to talk about there as well Additionally, Weavile has the distinction of having access to Pursuit, allowing Weavile to trap Psychic and Ghost-types like Mega Latias, Reuniclus, and Gengar. I'd also mention Pursuit above in the section where you briefly discuss its main usage in the metagame...and talk about its advantages over other Pursuit trappers up there as well. Weavile's powerful STAB combination, (AC) coupled with a fearsome Attack stat and great Speed tier, (AC) allow Weavile it to function as a solid weapon against offensive teams, most notably outspeeding Cinderace. Weavile is also one of the few Pursuit trappers in the National Dex tier, and it sets itself apart from Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar due to its heightened Speed, allowing Weavile to fit on teams that are much more offensive than the bulky offense teams that Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar are found on. Triple Axel threatens to OHKO common offensive Pokemon like Kartana, Mega Latias, and Mega Charizard Y. Knock Off helps Weavile remove items from its defensive answers such as Toxapex, Magearna, and Tapu Fini while hitting offensive Pokemon like Cinderace, Mega Medicham, and Aegislash rather hard. Additionally, Pursuit allows Weavile to trap Psychic- (AH) and Ghost-types Pokemon like Mega Latias, Reuniclus, and Gengar. Offensive Pokemon that Weavile forces out are also good Pursuit targets, such as Cinderace, Mega Medicham, and Mega Charizard Y. Ice Shard is useful for revenge killing a Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Scale Shot Mega Garchomp, and outprioritizing Rillaboom. Ice Shard is also useful in revenge killing faster threats, such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Koko, after a considerable amount of chip damage.

Weavile fits best on offensive teams that appreciate the Pursuit support it provides. Pokemon that struggle against Mega Latias, Reuniclus, and Aegislash appreciate the aforementioned Pursuit support, such as Kartana, Mega Medicham, and Toxapex. Pivots such as Slowbro and Blissey help Weavile get into play without being forced to take a hit, while also luring in Aegislash and Gengar for Weavile to take advantage of. Weavile's frailty and typing leave quite a bit to be desired on the defensive end, leaving it vulnerable to priority users and faster offensive threats such as Rillaboom, Ash-Greninja, and Mega Lopunny. With that in mind, Pokemon that can pivot into these threats like Toxapex, Corviknight, and Clefable fit well in tandem with Weavile. Also, Weavile's susceptibility to Stealth Rock necessitates Defog support from the likes of Corviknight or Zapdos. Corviknight is especially noteworthy because it invites in Garchomp and offensive Landorus-T in order to U-turn out into Weavile. Additionally, Mega Scizor and Toxapex counter Weavile, so Pokemon that threaten them such as Taunt Heatran and Mega Medicham make for excellent partners. Heatran and Toxapex are especially good partners because they appreciate Weavile's ability to Pursuit trap the Lati twins Latias and Latios and to threaten Gliscor, Garchomp, and Landorus-T with Triple Axel.

Due to the multi-hit nature of Triple Axel, it is very easy to rack up contact chip damage. This comes from Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs, Garchomp's Rough Skin, and various Rocky Helmets. Since Icicle Crash does not make contact, it will circumvent this chip damage. Weavile can also use Icicle Crash over Triple Axel if the user values the heightened accuracy, reliable damage output, and flinch chance; however, Icicle Crash does not always OHKO Mega Latias, so Triple Axel is preferred.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Revenge Killers**: Due to Weavile's frailty, faster revenge killers such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Koko can outspeed it and threaten an OHKO with their STAB moves. Additionally, strong priority such as Mega Medicham's Fake Out, Greninja's Water Shuriken, and Rillaboom's Grassy Glide will all deal heavy damage to Weavile, and should be avoided at all times.

**Steel-types**: Mega Scizor, Mega Mawile, Melmetal, and Magearna all take minimal damage from Weavile and can all threaten to OHKO Weavile in return. Mega Scizor deserves special mention, as it is an extremely consistent counter due to its longevity with Roost. Also, Magearna can either set up on Weavile or use Pain Split throughout the match to remain healthy, thus making for a very sturdy and dangerous counter.

**Water-types**: Toxapex, Alomomola, and Tapu Fini, though they dislike the loss of their item, can switch into Weavile repeatedly over the course of the match and can threaten Weavile back with either Scald burns or an OHKO after Stealth Rock (RC) respectively. (Removing "respectively" is optional. While it is pretty obvious who OHKOes Weavile, it might cause some new players to think Toxapex or Alomomola can OHKO.) Toxapex and Alomomola can also remain healthy to continually check Weavile, (AC) courtesy of Regenerator.
