After the DLC dropped I build my first webs Team ever. It was pretty bad at first, but I kept on improving. After several iterations I ended up with a Team which I deem to be decent. It still got its flaws though and that is why I am here!
Let us get right into it, this is the team: https://pokepast.es/96a7cf43be623acd
Credit to Bulbapedia for the Pokémon spirits!
So let me get into the roles every member on this Team serves!
Shuckle
This Team was build around webs and Shuckle is there to set them up! Sturdy allows you to not fall to any single hit. Mental Herb protects you for any potential Taunts coming in. You set up webs and if you manage to Rocks as well. Encore to punish your opponent for clicking SR, status, Defog and especially to prevent easy set up! Final Gambit is there to prevent opposing Defogs!
Bisharp
Bisharp seems like a no-brainer on a Webs Team. Defiant punishes opposing Defogs, while it benefits from Webs which got Court Changed or reflected by Hatterenes Magic Bounce onto your side. Full Speed allows you to outrun everything up to base 110 base speed which makes Bisharp very scary as it becomes less reliant on Sucker Punch. After a Sword Dance or triggering Defiant Bisharp can function as your main breaker, opening up your opponent to your other Mons sharing the same Checks and Counters.
Aegislash
Running a Ghost-type Pokémon is obviously another logical choice on a Webs-Team to block Rapid Spins. I decided to run Aegislash, as Ghost + Dark have some nice synergy. As Mentioned before it shares some Checks and Counters with Bisharp. The biggest culprit is Mandibuzz, which you can force taking care of your +2 Bisharp in exchange for some damage on it. This will open up Aegislash. Furthermore Aegislash can double on Chansey and set up, after luring it in with Kyrum. Air Ballon is the item of choice to block Excadrills Rapid Spin without fearing EQ.
Excadrill
Excadrill rounds off the main core. Bisharp+Aegi+Exca will weaken and break their shared Counters and Checks like Mandibuzz, Hippodown, Corviknight and other physical walls. SD + Rapid Spin are another scary Win Condition even after your webs got removed. Furthermore Exca can remove hazards like Webs without being slowed itself due to sitting on a Balloon. You don't want to run Defog on a webs Team as this would remove your Webs!
Azumarill
After testing the team with different Mons I realized that I am very weak to Mons like Boots Cinderace or Volcarona. Azumaril serves as the main answer to these Mons. Being on webs allows it to run max HP which makes setting up way easier why still being able to outspeed bulkier, slower Mons which are able to take a Aqua Jet.
Kyurem
The Team was still very weak to opposing Azumarills, with our own Azumarill being the only answer to it. Kyurem can take an Aqua Jet and OHKO it with Freeze Dry in return. Specs Kyurem on Webs is a Beast, as it has little counters. Clefable running mainly Phys-Def Sets nowadays helps. Chansey is a hard counter, but luring Chansey in enables you to double to your steel types and setting up on the free turn (especially with Aegi). It's also the only special attacker on the team to not lose to any Iron Defense abuser!
Main Idea
You should get the main idea of the team by now: Set up Webs, get in a setup sweeper, sacrifice it to break any opposing physical walls, get in the next Mon, set up again and use the webs / prio advantage to overwhelm your opponent and either continue breaking or sweep. You can't guarantee keeping up webs every game, but you can use the free turn to set up or get in Bisharp to also set up in a sense. Most Mons are pretty slow, but running triple priority helps with winning even when Webs are gone.
Threats
Obviously no Team is perfect and there are a few very threatening Pokémon to this team. I will list them now, supplemented with the counterplay build into the team:
Cinderace
Running mainly Boots makes it immune to the webs speed drop while threatening most of the team with Pyro Ball, High Jump Kick and Gunk Shot!
Azumarill will beat any variant without Gunkshot, while Kyurem can softcheck any variant without HJK. Otherwise you have to rely on using your priority to wear it down, which isn't very reliable tbh.
Volcarona
Another Boots abuser, which threatens the Team with Fire attacks. Azumarill is the only real answer. Unfortunatly it will not even OHKO with Aqua Jet without a boost. Nevertheless, it will deal heavy damage to it. Giga Drain is a big problem!
Urshifu Single Strike
Unfortunatly this team is weak to one of the most used Mons on the ladder right now! Bisharp's and Aegislash's prio is resisted and it threatens the whole team, but Azumarill which its stab moves. Azumarill can potentially set up on it, but can't hard switch in if you still want to get a Belly Drum off. Still Urshifu deals heavy damage to this team with ease!
Rillaboom
Grassy Glide is one of the strongest Azumarill answers. It will threaten Aegi with knock as well.
Psychic Terrain
Blocking priority is obviously bad for this team, but 3 steel types is no easy matchup for Psychic Terrain Teams either.
Rain
Swift Swim user do not really care about webs. Kyurem goes in though!
That's the team! What do you think? I feel like Kyurem might have to be exchanged to another Pokémon which checks Azumarill and provides a better answer to Cinderace as well. I don't know. Open for any ideas! Thanks for any feedback in advance!
EDIT: I am currently around 1600 elo and would love to break into the top 500! Or at least know that I am not held back by a team, but by my own lacking skill!
