Weezing.png

[OVERVIEW]
Weezing's physical bulk, wide utility movepool, and abilities allow it to function as a great defensive pick for teams. A pure Poison typing leaves it with only two weaknesses, one of which can be negated Levitate, and important resistances, letting it wall Pokemon that utilize Grass- and Fighting-type moves such as Tsareena and Hitmonlee. A solid Special Attack stat and the threat of status make Weezing hard to switch into as well, and the ability to lay Toxic Spikes allows it to provide support for its team and wear down its checks. However, Weezing's low special bulk means even neutral strong special hits will take a big chunk out of its health. Weezing also has unreliable recovery, especially if it forgoes Black Sludge, since its only viable option is Pain Split. A weakness to Psychic also leaves it forced out by foes such as Mesprit and Gallade, and by those with Psychic-type coverage, such as Whimsicott and Virizion, if it is chipped enough. Choosing Neutralizing Gas also means it struggles with Ground-types such as Palossand.

[SET]
name: Defensive Utility
move 1: Sludge Bomb
move 2: Will-O-Wisp
move 3: Toxic Spikes / Taunt
move 4: Pain Split / Taunt / Flamethrower
item: Black Sludge / Rocky Helmet
ability: Levitate / Neutralizing Gas
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Weezing can function as both a wall and a supporter. Will-O-Wisp cripples against Pokemon immune to poison such as Aggron and Silvally-Steel. Taunt can be used to shut down opposing defensive Pokemon such as Vaporeon, Gigalith, and Regirock. Flamethrower allows Weezing to threaten Steel-types beyond a burn and keep Toxic Spikes up against Alolan Sandslash and Silvally-Steel. Neutralizing Gas sacrifices a Ground immunity to let Weezing take advantage of Pokemon that rely heavily on their abilities, such as Xatu, Gigalith, and Scyther, and also lets it absorb Toxic Spikes. The given EV spread allows Weezing to outspeed univested base 65s such as Vaporeon and Alolan Sandslash. Weezing pairs best with specially defensive Pokemon that can absorb special hits for it; these include blanket checks to special attackers, such as Gigalith and Lanturn, which enjoy Weezing soaking up Fighting- and Grass-type moves for them. Alolan Sandslash has a resistance to Psychic and can spin away entry hazards, letting Weezing take less damage from Stealth Rock and, if running Neutralizing Gas, Spikes. In return, Weezing can absorb Fighting- and, if running Levitate, Ground-type moves for it.

[OVERVIEW]
Weezing's physical bulk, wide utility movepool, and abilities allow it to function as a great defensive pick for teams. A pure Poison typing leaves it with only two weaknesses, one of which is negated by ability choice, and important reistantances(resistances) such as Fairy-, Fighting-, and Grass-(list mons it walls not just the types, types is common knowledge). A solid attacking stat and the threat of status make it hard to switch into as well, and the ability to lay Toxic Spikes allow Weezing to provide for its team, wearing down its checks. However, Weezing's low special bulk means even strong (special)neutral hits will take a big chunk out of its health. Weezing also has unreliable recovery in Pain Split(word this differently, this is making it sound like Pain Split is the problem rather than the lack of reliable recovery), especially if it forgoes Black Sludge. A weakness to Psychic also leaves it forced out by foes such as Mesprit and Gallade, and those with Psychic-type coverage such as Whimsicott and Virizion if it is chipped enough.

Weezing's best role is not as a wall, but rather as a more supporting Pokèmon. (nah it's fine as a wall)The combination of Sludge Bomb and Will-O-Wisp threaten status against every viable Pokèmon, crippling them. Taunt can be used to shut down opposing defensive Pokèmon, such as Vaporeon and Jellicent. (maybe list physical mons, since both of these mons do a chunk with Scald)Flamethrower allows Weezing to threaten Steel-types beyond a burn, as it lacks ways of damaging them outside of that. Neutralizing Gas lets Weezing take advantage of Pokèmon that rely heavily on their abilities, such as Gigalith, Scyther, and Xatu, (xatu should be the first listed, it's the main reason I'd run Neutralizing Gas)while having the added benefit of absorbing Toxic Spikes. The given EV spread allows Weezing to outspeed univested base 65s such as Vaporeon and Sandslash-Alola. Weezing pairs best with specially defensive Pokèmon that can absorb special hits for it. Claydol not only resists Psychic,(Claydol isn't the best Psychic check, or really example for a good teammate. Try more relevant mons like Alolan Sandslash if you want a Rapid Spinner) but has an immunity to Ground, letting it pair amazingly with Neutralizing Gas Weezing as it resists Bug- and Grass- for Claydol. Fighting- and Dark-types such as Absol and Passimian appreciate Weezing threatening Fairy-types for them, and in return, they can threaten the Psychic-types Weezing hates with a Knock Off.(I don't know if I'd consider Fighting mons too threatening for Psychic mons even with Knock)

A pure Poison typing leaves it with only two weaknesses, one of which is negated by ability choice, and important resistances, letting it wall Pokèmon (Pokemon - u made this mistake a couple of other times so be sure to fix those too) such as Passimian and Hitmonlee. (i'd rather have u mention how it checks fighting- and grass-types and then give examples, just to be more clear) A solid attacking stat and the threat of status make it hard to switch into as well, and the ability to lay Toxic Spikes allow Weezing to provide for its team, wearing down its checks. However, Weezing's low special bulk means even strong special neutral hits will take a big chunk out of its health. This Weezing set can function as both a wall and a supporter. The combination of Sludge Bomb and Will-O-Wisp threaten status against every viable Pokèmon, crippling them. (no need to mention sludge bomb; just explain what will-o-wisp does) Taunt can be used to shut down opposing defensive Pokèmon, (2) such as Vaporeon, Gigalith, and Regirock. Flamethrower allows Weezing to threaten Steel-types beyond a burn, as it lacks ways of damaging them outside of that. (helps it keep tspikes up against stuff like steelvally too) Neutralizing Gas lets Weezing take advantage of Pokèmon (3) that rely heavily on their abilities, such as Xatu, Gigalith, and Scyther, while having the added benefit of absorbing Toxic Spikes. The given EV spread allows Weezing to outspeed univested base 65s such as Vaporeon and Sandslash-Alola. (it's alolan sandslash) Weezing pairs best with specially defensive Pokèmon (4) that can absorb special hits for it. Sandslash-Alola (2) has a resistance to Psychic and can spin away hazards, letting Weezing take less damage from hazards. In return, Weezing can absorb Fighting- and, if running Levitate, Ground-type moves for it. Bug- and Dark-types such as Ribombee and Passimian (i think u meant fighting?) appreciate Weezing threatening Fairy-types for them, and in return, they can threaten the Psychic-types Weezing hates with a STAB move. (they both also rlly appreciates tspikes)

mention blanket checks to special attackers; gigalith and lanturn are good examples. if u're worried abt it being too long, get rid of the bug + fighting part
