Well can't you see that its just raining? [OU-RD-RMT]

Introduction:

About 3 Weeks-A month Ago I Decided to make my first competitive battling team. I love the Water, So I knew I wanted to have a Rainy Day Team. I've spent alot of time with it, and I like it a lot, so I'm planing on moving it over onto the DS, so I wanted some advice before I start. So, Here is how I made it-

Team Building:

I decided to start of with Kingdra because I thought it was the coolest pokemon back when I was playing Gold. I also decided to use it because, It has great typing, and it is a swift swimmer.

I'm going all Special with this King of the sea, so I need someone a little more physical... Lets use Swords Dancing Ludicolo, who can Take care off all Kingdras only weakness, Dragon, With Ice punch, as well as taking a hit or too

dpicon230.png
dpicon272.png

Hmm... Who Shall lead me to Victory? Azelf... To slow... Aero? To Frail & suicidal. How About Crobat? Its Fast enough, and yet it can always Roost itself to health.

dpicon169.png
dpicon230.png
dpicon272.png

Who shall replenish the Rain Mid-game? Maybe even get some rocks up? A couple thoughts came to mind, but nothing was as bulky as Bronzong.

You know, Non of my Swift Swimmers are weak to Electric, and yet my Opponents still send their Jolteons and Zapdoeses out... And, Blissy, as well TTar, Hippowdan, and Abomasnow keep on giving me trouble... A CBing Dugtrio should do the trick, EQing some and Stone Edging the rest.

Last But Not Least... I want something that can abuse the rain, but I need another dancer... Why not have a pokemon do both? And, while its at it, it can remove those devastating Toxic Spikes... Its Qwilfish Time

In-Depth Veiw:

All Non-Grammatical Edits will be in Indigo (You know you love this color)

169.png

Crobat @ Damp Rock
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def /252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Rain Dance
- U-turn
- Roost

This Lead is Amazing. Enough said. But, because I don't want the mods on me, I'll elaborate.

Can your Opponent's lead use SR or any other set-upish move? Dot worry, odds are your faster. Taunt it. Is it going to explode now? U-turn to Bronzong, let him get the rain up, and keep the fact that he is going to get swept in the rain a secret a little longer.

Oh no, fake out lead? Is your opponent aware that you have the Ability Inner Focus? Because, most of mine don't. Rain on his little Parade (Literally) and leave him questioning why you didn't flinch.

230.png

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 32 HP/224 Spd/252 S.Att (The Att Was a Typo)
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Dragon Pulse
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power Electric

Ok, This Pokemon is simply amazing. It can hit all pokemon for at least Neutral damage (Except Shedinja) The Strategy here is just Kill Kill Kill. The only things I see Walling this thing are Blissys, which is handled by my Dugtrio.

There was no way I was going to chance this things Acc, So I went with Surf instead of Hydro Pump. Dragon Pulse Gives Me my Second STAB, and Those 2 attacks Hit Everything for Neutral except Empoleon and Shedinja. Signal Beam takes care of Grass Types and Physics, and HP Electric takes out Bulky Waters and Birds that would hamper my Ludicolo and unsuspecting Gyaras. I coulda went for HP Grass, But thats what Ludicolo is for.

272.png

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 12 HP/252 Atk/240 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Seed Bomb

I love how when I send in this guy, and my opponent sends out Special walls. If I can 1HKO it, I usualy do, And Although I don't end up using the SD to often, when I feel that I have the chance to, this Pokemon usually says on the field untill the end of the match.
Its always fun when a Celebi is trying to wall it, or a Salamance is trying to set up, and I get to Ice Punch it in the face. But, when Skarmory comes out the show is over...

437.png

Bronzong @ Damp Rock
Ability: Heatproof
EVs: 252 HP/128 Def/128 S.Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Rain Dance
- Confuse Ray
- Explosion

Ahhh The Mighty Bronzong! What usualy ends up happening is Crobat Taunts the opponent, and then It u-turns to this thing to set up rocks and then Rain, and then Mabey Confuse the opponent before it swaps. Bronzong's only weakness is tamed in the Rain, which makes me question, why does everybody think that my zong is going to be heatproof in the Battles? Its weird... But hey, At least I get my opponent to skip a turn. Im considoring Toxic instead of Confuse ray to take out blissy, but eh.

I Changed it to heatproof because Zap is Immune to ground, if I replace Zap I will swap back.

145.png

Zapdos @ Damp Rock
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 224 HP/108 SpA/ 176 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Thunder
- Rain Dance
- U-turn
- Roost

Zapdos does the same thing my Crobat does, except it can fire off STAB Thunders, and adds a couple of nice resistances to the team.

I am still considering Jolteon or Raikou if you guys think one of them would preform better, let me know.

211.png

Qwilfish @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Att/4 Def/252 Spd
Nature: Jolly
- Waterfall
- Poison Jab
- Sword Dance
- Explosion

This is my Dual Dancing Qwilfish. I gotta say, this guy has swept a lot of teams. And, at the same time, it has removed Toxic spikes which destroy my life orb users a.k.a All of my sweepers. I put Rain dance on it, because I only have 2 Dancers, and I think 3 is important, but I'm going to see if Spikes Or Explosion is a better option.

I was right, Explosion was a Better Option. It is a nice way to say goodbye if this guys health is low, or if SR/Spikes are up & Rain is about to end.

Comments and Critiques would be very appreciated! Thanks for reading

It looks like you've put a lot of thought into this team but I really think Life orb would work better on Dugtrio because in certain situations right after you KO a Pokemon with Dugtrio chances are he'll get KOed.
E.g. Lets say ur facing against a Heracross and you use Aerial Ace, yes you've KOed it but now your opponent sends in his Tyranitar. You're locked into Aerial Ace and KOing Tyranitar is out of the question and guess what? You're Trapped! Tyranitar uses STAB Pursuit and you're done.
Which allows all the aforementioned Pokemon a free switch in: Blissey, Zapdos, Jolteon, etc.

So try out this set to switch attacks more freely although you need to have done a little damage to Tyranitar before (if you've finished setting up Stealth Rock and summoned Rain you can explode on Tyranitar with Bronzong and attempt finish him off:

Dugtrio (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 40 HP/252 Atk/216 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch/ Night Slash
- Aerial Ace/Pursuit
---
And you should search for an answer to these Pokemon who can give Dugtrio and later your team members problems: Tyranitar, Scizor, Weavile, Metagross, and Heracross, well like I said before how to get Tyranitar is to give him a little damage before (20-25%) and then kill him. Although most of the threats here are weak to Scizor who can work wonders on your team because of his weakness nullified (Fire Type moves do -50%) A common Moveset for Scizor is this:
Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
---
It also gets rid of the same Pokemon who give Dugtrio problems although Zapdos can hurt you with Heat wave which like I said does reduced damage but can KO you so you can use a bulkier spread:

Scizor (M) @ Leftovers/Iron Plate
Ability: Technician
EVs: 200 HP/252 Atk/56 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Superpower
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
---
Good Luck!

Thanks for the Suggestion. Right Now I am Using something close to Your Suggestion for the bulky Scizor, But I decided to use Joel22's set with Rain Dance and Spd Ev's instead.

Hi.

Okay, first of all, you seem to be running Attack EVs on your Kingdra when it in fact is using special moves! This is not a major mistake, so you can just fix that up.

Next, I'll move on to some individual comments. First, have you tried Outrage in the place of Hidden Power Electric on your Kingdra? Outrage hits bulky Water-types for more base power (180) than HP Electric (140) does anyway, so that might be worth a try. Plus, you seem to hate Blissey.

226 Atk vs 119 Def & 651 HP (120 Base Power): 318 - 375 (48.85% - 57.60%)

With no Attack EVs at all and with a Life Orb, you 2HKO Blissey if she switches into Stealth Rock. It might be worth a try to invest a few more Attack EVs to generally power your Outrage up, but that's really up to you.

Next, I don't really see Qwilfish doing much (SD + Poison Jab = terrible coverage) except setting up the rain, absorbing Toxic Spikes, and being an excuse for a physical Pokemon, so I'm going to recommend an additional Rain Dancer that can help you with the Bulky Water-types that really just have no problem at all taking hits from your team members: Zapdos!

It's up to you whether you make your Zapdos offensively or defensively based, but since this appears to be an offensive team, I'd recommend just going 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 HP with Rain Dance/Thunder/Roost/Hidden Power Ice or Grass, or something along those lines. In terms of replacing members, I honestly would go with Qwilfish. Plus, with Thunder, you'll be doing a LOT to eg. Vaporeon and Milotic, who are usually physically defensive enough to take Seed Bomb from Ludicolo. For your filler Hidden Power, I'd recommend Grass since Thunder STAB hits extremely hard already, and HP Grass will help you out against Swampert. Zapdos will also help you out against Skarmory to some degree, who walls Ludicolo, Qwilfish (I hope you're throwing this thing away now), Bronzong, and even Dugtrio.

Hint: Dugtrio is missing 20 EVs!

Next, you're probably going to encounter some Jolteon problems along the way. Jolteon can finish off your Kingdra (who is usually weakened by Life Orb), Crobat, Qwilfish (do you have a Zapdos yet?), and even Dugtrio. Bronzong makes a good Jolteon wall, but can't really do anything to it except Explode. For this reason, I'd recommend you use Earthquake > Confuse Ray, as Earthquake allows you to hit a variety of other subjects (Steel-types mainly) for super effective damage anyway.

Hmm..that's all I could think of for now. Good luck with your team!

Hi, got your PM.

Crobat is fine as a lead, its mostly personal preference as to which lead is best.

I used pretty much the exact same Ludicolo and Kingdra on my last Rain Dance team, but your EVs on Ludicolo need a little fixing as does Kingdra slightly. Hydro Pump is needed over Surf on Kingdra, without the extra power it will fail to OHKO with Stealth Rock support Pokemon such as Swampert, Machamp, Rotom-A, Zapdos, Togekiss, Metagross, etc. For Ludicolo you don't need so many Speed EVs, use 60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spe as this outspeeds +1 neutral base 100s such as Adamant Choice Scarf Flygon, and the extra HP EVs could prove useful.

On Bronzong, drop Confuse Ray, its not of much use, you'd be better off with Reflect as this will make it easier for your two Swords Dancers to get up a SD.

On Qwilfish use an Adamant nature, you've already got a very fast Kingdra, no need to go overboard, that extra power will be very useful. Oh and if you get rid of Dugtrio since you said you weren't fond of it, then drop Rain Dance on Qwilfish for Explosion as it can help tear holes in teams.

Now onto this last Rain Dance Support Pokemon to be used over Dugtrio. Scizor is very good, but when using Scizor, you'll want to put Heatproof ability on Broznong so you don't have too much trouble with setting up against Fire-type Pokemon / attacks. Basically the best thing would be for you to try out a few Pokemon and see what you like so I'll go through a few others who can go well with Bronzong, I'll also state whether to use Heatproof or Levitate on Bronzong depending on each one.

Zapdos@Damp Rock ¦ Pressure
Timid ¦ 224 HP / 108 SpA / 176 Spe
Rain Dance / Thunder / U-turn / Roost
Use Heatproof on Bronzong

Zapdos will give you something good which you lack, and that is a powerful abuser of Thunder, this will make Pokemon such as Vaporeon easier to deal with since atm if Ludicolo goes down, they have their way with your team. The EVs reach 280 Speed so you'll outspeed Adamant Lucario, and take it out with Thunder, stopping an otherwise troublesome threat (with the HP EVs you will survive +2 ExtremeSpeed + SR damage). It can stay alive with Roost to help out your team longer, and U-turn is for general scouting.

Rotom-W@Damp Rock ¦ Levitate
Timid ¦ 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe or 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Rain Dance / Thunder / Hydro Pump / Shadow Ball
Use Heatproof on Bronzong

Rotom-W can abuse both Thunder and a boosted Hydro Pump so can make a nice addition to your team. Shadow Ball rounds off the coverage to hit other Rotom-A and Celebi. Timid nature is used so you outrun Adamant Lucario. The EVs depend on whether you would prefer bulk or power; the choice is up to you.

Starmie@Damp Rock ¦ Natural Cure
Timid ¦ 252 HP / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
Rain Dance / Surf / Thunder / Recover
Use Levitate on Bronzong

Like Rotom-W it can abuse boosted Water-type moves, and a 100% accurate Thunder. Difference is you get STAB on Water- not Electric-type moves. It can also Recover off health to survive longer. Unlike the other lot, this can do well against most Heatran and Infernape among others so Heatproof isn't needed on Bronzong.

Hope this helps, and Good Luck with your team! :)

The Att on Kingdra was a Typo xD

Ehhh I didn't Like Scizor to much, So I am going to try Zapdos, and then Starmie, and the Rotom (I am going to try Rotom Last because I already Used it back on version 1.2 of this team. (Im on 2.8 right now)

Edit: I did what you told me to do with the EV's, and they are working really well. Same for qwilfish, and he is my late game sweeper most of the time, when they send out a high Def pokemon that I know cannot damage me, I SD once or twice, and Explode on them (If I have other pokemon still in game) Or I waterfall it to death.

Also, Zapdos is awesome

I Replaced Dugtrio with Zapdos & Updated some things, Let me know on your opinions for the slot with Zapdos and anything else you want to add.
