Well rounded Offence.

~Introduction~
Okay, this is my first Gen V team and in previous generations one could likely say that Stall Teams were the majority. A couple of weeks ago, when I purchased Black Version and started frequenting Smogon in an attempt to get up to speed I quickly realized that this was no longer the case and that I was in over my head as someone who had played Stall almost exclusively. I noticed the with so many new abusers, Weather teams of all sorts were everywhere as compared to back when there was Sandstorm and the rare Hail team. That and Hyper Offence and I didn't want my first team to be too obscenely generic so I decided on going for a more balanced Offensive team. So without further delay, let the onslaught of inexperience begin.

~The Team~

Whimsicott (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Encore
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Taunt

When I was building the team I had not yet used Pokemon Online so I was unaware of the team preview but anyway...I wanted a "lead" that could circumvent the ever popular Deoxys-s's blistering speed and stop other leads from getting Stealth Rocks and the like because none of the team really likes to have them around. Whimsicott takes hits surprisingly well and Taunt + Substitute + Leech Seed forces alot more leads to switch than I would have expected and Encore allows me to lock them into a move I can switch in an attacker on and I can setup on the resisted attack/switch.

Terrakion @ Air Balloon
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

Next I wanted A good Early and Late game Setup Sweeper and Double Boosting Terrakion fills that spot like a charm especially when he can come in on a poke locked into Fire Punch or targeting another poke with Earthquake and get a free boost. After boosting his dual STABs have ripped through entire teams with ease, and at the least allowed me to build some momentum and soften up the opponent and create holes for me to exploit.

Haxorus (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- X-Scissor

Now I needed a revenge killer that I could throw away later in the game in case I need a free switch. I also knew I needed something that had a lot of raw power because I wanted a pokemon that would maintain or build on my momentum before becoming a Martyr to the cause. >_< Haxorus Was my go to Pokemon because I knew him from my playthrough of the game and had previously read through his spec's His egregious base attack pretty much sold me immediately I slapped a Scarf on him and gave him moves that contrasted with what I had already to help him complement Terrakion, and he does his job well. That job being to break things.

Darmanitan (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake

This is the Pokemon that I believe causes most of my losses. When I picked him I had high expectations for him the great base attack and the decent speed and HP along with a built in Life Orb lead me to believe he would play a great late game revenge killer but he just doesn't cut it he usually just gets outsped and OHKO'ed Honestly I am just posting him because he was there when I playtested this team and because I thought he would work.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 112 HP / 252 SAtk / 144 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Now I wanted something a bit more bulky that I could cut to in the middle of the game that could scout the opponents remaining pokes and moves and give me an idea of what to expect from him without giving up too much momentum. The new Water Electric typed Rotom-W does this well while also helping to over come some key problem Pokemon. Hydro Pump is there for a hard hitting STAB move Volt switch lets me hit most pokes for good damage and keep them off balance by allowing me to bring in a poke that will force a switch or resist a hit and get a boost before going on the offensive. Will-O-Wisp Cripples physical attackers to further help the rest of the team come in to attack or setup for a sweep. And Pain Split lets Rotom heal and soften up fatties at the same time.

Bisharp (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head

I love this Pokemon I picked him to be a late game clean up mon primarily but he does occasionally get to come in sooner. Sucker Punch already hits hard with STAB and Life Orb but after a Swords Dance it is horrible. Iron Head does a pretty good job hassling the guys who want to come in and set up and if he comes in on a Volt Switch from Rotom Substitute can help him get multiple Dances on a switch as well as increase his longevity against pokes who he can't OHKO or try to set up on him

Well thats it I know there are some major flaws with the team as the win loss Ratio was about 50-50. But I am eager to get into the swing of Competitive Battling and any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Hi

Since this is an offensive team, entry hazards will really benefit you. Therefor my first suggestion is going to a Deoxys-S instead of Whimsicott, who is your least useful member. Although a Dual Screen variant is possible here, I would opt for a dual spiking one. Since your team is mainly based on keeping offensive momentum up rather then set-up sweeping. A moveset of Taunt / Stealth Rock / Spikes / Magic Coat is a good option here, Magic Coat preventing opposing Deoxys-S from Taunt'ing you etc. Since you don't have offensive moves nor do you have to fear Taunt, a more bulkier EV spread is perfectly usable here. 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe with a Timid nature will suffice. Leftovers is a good option for the held item. This bulkier set allows Deoxys-S to set up hazards easier then the more offensive variant.

I would also like to suggest Scizor instead of Bisharp. Scizor provides a more offensive presence and it also has good synery with Rotom-W, forming the so called Volt-Turn combination. And unlike Bisharp Scizor also has the useful Bullet Punch for opposing Double Dance Terrakion and the likes of DDNite. A moveset of U-turn / Sword Dance / Roost / Bullet Punch with an EV spread of 252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 SDef and Occa Berry as the held item will be good enough. This set seems like a weird one but it is extremely good in faking a choice item early game by simply spamming U-turn, while late game it can set up SD and clean up with Bullet Punch. Occa Berry helps with the likes of HP Fire Celebi and Latias, who can usually break these Rotom-W + Scizor cores.

X-Scissor is a pretty worthless move on Haxorus as it's pretty weak and it doesn't provide you with any additional coverage. Dual Chop is a good alternative. Although it's a second Dragon-type move, it doesn't force Haxorus to spam Outrage for 2-3 turns and it also has the capability of hitting through Subs. And while we're at it, you could also consider changing his item to Choice Band, this will kill or at least severely cripple many of the checks and counter for Terrakion too, so sweeping will be easier.

Last but not least, an optional suggestion. Since you are not satisfied with how Darmanitan work out for you, could consider replacing him too. A good alternative here is Choice Scarf Infernape. This will give you an easier time against certain threats as Chlorophyl Venusaur (when the Sun is up), +1 Volcarona etc as you outspeed these pokes after the got a boost. You can play with the moveset but a U-turn / Overheat / Close Combat / Stone Edge one can work.

Hope these suggestions helped and good luck with the team.
