What are you doing over summer break?

So, as I'm drifting in and out of manic states here lately, my mind has wandered and found things to ponder. And since I am wasting time before my chem exam, I figure I'll make this thread. You read the title, so answer, yeah?

My goals for the summer:
  • Learn HTML
  • Learn JavaScript
  • Make a web page for my game project/modserver (using learned HTML and JavaScript)
  • Organize a SSB league in my area
  • Reach 175lbs on the bench press
As some of you are aware, I'm a Smash Brothers addict. I had a relatively successful tournament in my area on December 29th 2006, and since I'm quite sure there are more players around than who I already know, I'm going to be organizing a "league" of sorts, which will more than likely reflect the way the Smogon Tour works. Every weekend, whoever wants to participate will meet together at some predetermined location. Like the Smogon Tour, those participating will be organized into a tournament. Best of 5 matches (first to 3 wins), single elimination, 8 minutes on Melee. Like the Smogon tour, I'll have the SSB games in a week rotation. 2 weekends of Melee, then the 3rd weekend of 64, then back to Melee, etc, until the end of the summer. To keep a score, points will be awarded for how many lives you had left at the end of each match you play.

A vs B

.....G1/G2/G3/G4/G5
A...0/0/2/2/0
B...4/1/0/0/3

So, even though A lost to B and is eliminated, he still gets 4 points, for having won 2 of the games with 2 lives remaining each time.

Points won will be accumulated over the summer, and those with the most points before fall semester starts will play in the championship tournament.

I'm going to be implementing this idea at NCSU when I return in the fall, so I'll have lots of SSB practice this summer ^_^

I have no idea what I want to do, but I better find something quick before I break down and do nothing for seven weeks.

Oh yeah, study for a resit. ><;

That sounds like a really fun idea khold, I wish I could take part in that. I'm the bomb-DIG with Pikachu.

For me, I finally just got a great job so that's one goal accomplished. Through the company I get to go to certain gyms for free, and I started up again Wednesday and yesterday, and MAN does it hurt today. (I haven't lifted anything since I moved in September.) So my fitness goals are:

- get back into the shape I was in when I moved (I remember all my old maxes)
- be able to jog the "block" with my roommate without resting
- by the end of summer, bench 200 and curl 50

I don't see having any problems with these, so I might be undershooting. On top of all that:

- have a great time at Smocon07
- pay off credit card balance (should happen within the month)
- start planning a trip to Europe/Australia/Las Vegas/wherever I feel like
- keep going strong with the girl I'm currently seeing (shouldn't be a problem either, it's awesome so far)

I am spending 2 months in China with family, and I will be helping to teach English at a University there. I will be learning to swim too =] In September, I am returning to Colchester Sixth Form to give further economics presentations.

I'm gonna work all summer (I already have a job but I don't start for a week or so) and save money to buy a car and I expect all of you to help me pick one.

Guess Id like to

Deadlift 405 or 365 5 times
Squat 305 for 10
Benchpress 110lb dumbbells for 10 or 120s for 4-5
Overhead press 85lb dumbbells for 10 or 90s for 5
Decline benchpress 235 for 10

Hope to get these done by the end of summer [end of september]

I've got 3 jobs now, but after the 15th, it's back down to 2. I guess keeping my 2 jobs all summer would be a good goal =o Also, Smocon07, if I can make it >_>

work work work, just like any other time of the year:/ but a least throughtout the summer there will be a summer (fun) bowling league so i can keep my game up (the alley used to be closed all summer long for some reason >( ). i guess if i m bored enough i may try to do a push-up or something >_>

I'm thinking of helping my village's vet in his clinic so I can get more practise. Other than that I don't have many plans except doing some hiking etc

-Take summer course over May at Mcgill for the calc I failed, maybe see Brain in mtl

-Return to Toronto to work on the Toronto island, maybe hit Smocon

-????

-PROFIT

1. Pass my driving test before I turn 18 (my birthday's in September)
2. Learn to play the guitar
3. Get the strength back in my legs after bumming around all winter
4. Maybe do some working out on my arms
5. Decide what the fuck I'm going to do in university

I might also look for a job to help towards a car, but I seriously doubt it. I may also begin to plan the vacation I might take after finishing my A levels.

1. Attend the U.S. Military Academy Summer Leadership Seminar at West Point and get an idea of whether or not I want to go there for college.
2. Get a job.
3. Buy a racing bike and use it and my pool to supplement my summer running training.
4. Become a Pokemon master in D/P.

I will be working at an elementary school summer camp for about eight weeks. Before and after that, I'll probably do nothing. But hey, at least I'll make $3000+ this summer.

other than work and finding a new job, Ill be doing these things:

-training and breeding for a D/P team.
-going to a yugioh SJC in Mesa, Arizonia (July)
-learn to drive
-get laid

This is a nice thread imo. For the summer break, I am planning to

get into the university
learn assembly
learn competitive battling

Yeah, that's it.
