This is a team I used back in the early-middle days of the metagame with decent success. I wanted to see if it could still work in today's metagame.
Gengar@Life Orb
Timid | Levitate
6 HP, 252 special attack, 252 speed
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Hypnosis
As soon as I started seeing Gyara leads, I started using this thing. Gets in a quick Hypnosis to cripple their starter or whatever they send in. A solid sweeper for the early and late game. This is vulnerable to Weavile leads, but Gyarados was the lead when I made this team.
Weavile@Choice Band
Jolly | Pressure
40 HP, 252 attack, 216 speed
-Pursuit
-Night Slash
-Ice Punch
-Brick Break
A crucial revenge killer. It can even serve as Fire bait for Heatran. This gives me some physical sweeping potential. The EVs should be obvious. 216 outspeeds all base 120s.
Spiritomb@Leftovers
Calm | Pressure
252 HP, 112 defense, 144 special defense
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Fighting
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
Status taker and anti-spin. Hidden Power Fighting deals with Tyranitar and Weavile. Also functions as an Azelf/Gengar/Alakazam counter. I suppose this thing works as a Deoxys-E counter too.
Blissey@Leftovers
Bold | Natural Cure
148 HP, 252 defense, 104 special attack, 6 speed
-Wish
-Protect
-Ice Beam
-Seismic Toss
Before WishBliss was the big thing. Wish support is absolutely key for this team. It restores Life Orb damage on Gengar, and Choice users such as Weavile and Heatran love Wish support. It also helps Donphan's lack of recovery.
Donphan@Leftovers
Impish | Sturdy
252 HP, 6 attack, 252 defense
-Earthquake
-Ice Shard
-Rapid Spin
-Stealth Rock
Absorbs physical attacks with Tomb and supports my team. Also serves as a ScarfChomp counter. Because it lacks recovery, it loves Wish support from Blissey.
Heatran@Choice Scarf
Rash| Flash Fire
20 HP, 252 special attack, 238 speed
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power Ice
-Explosion
Gives my team the extra offense it needs. Scarf allows it to outspeed base 120s. Fire Blast for obvious STAB, Earth Power for coverage. HP Ice is better than Dragon Pulse due to the power drop from the Specs set. Explosion for taking out a Blissey with residual damage.
Win, fail, or not worth rating?
