What is BW2? (OU RMT after a year)

So after a year of not playing Pokemon at all, I recently obtained a spark of interest again, and decided to see whats hopping now days in the Pokemon World. I've notice a couple variations on our trio of hideously ugly genies, which actually is pleasing to the eye in some cases, as well as a couple guys getting DW Ability buffs and move tutor boosts, but I haven't taken the time to look into it that much. I figured that I would give the meta a test run with my old BW team that I constructed around this time last year. Boy, did I get demolished. This team had some 'great success' in its time, but I got smacked around left and right. I'm not sure if I'm just rusty at Pokemon, or this team is outdated. Probably both. So I want some help on making this team 'modernized' with all the 'hip-trends' that you guys are doing now days.

Team Building:

When I started building this team, I wanted to play a super fast paced style with big heavy hitters that didn't require a lot of set-up. My first pick was this guy:

612.png

+Haxorus
At first I wasn't sure what kind of Haxorus to make this, but I wanted it to the most destructive Pokemon on the team.

612.png
462.png

+Magnezone
Magnezone was an obvious support choice for Haxorus.

612.png

+Scizor
Adding Scizor helped me get a better offensive core established, working well with Magnezone for momentum in Volt-Turn.

+Latios
Latios was my next pick, due to the fact that it was dominating OU teams having just recently been released from Ubers.

+Deoxys-Speed
This guy was drafted for the need of a Stealth Rock/ Spikes Suicide lead. He made all of my games amazing, and got the job done every time.

+Cloyster
Cloyster was the last Pokemon, pretty much used for filling the last slot after my 4 core Pokemon and hazards had been established.

So my team looked like this:

386-speed.png

Noodle Arms (Deoxys-S) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Superpower
- Taunt

Having Stealth Rocks and Spikes up consistently every game was crucial to my team's success, and no one did it better than Deoxys. Superpower hit stuff that I knew I could KO off the bat, and Taunt was to protect from other Taunts and force switches. This was my go-to lead, and it never changed.

212.png

Scizor Me (Scizor) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Pursuit

A standard Choice Band Scizor put in great work as an offensive force, and definitely got his fair share of revenge kills with Bullet Punch, while keeping momentum with U-Turn. Pursuit helps me get nasty Psychics that run away every time. Superpower hits Ferrothorn like a boss.

091.png

Blue Waffle (Cloyster) @ White Herb
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Shell Smash
- Rock Blast
- Razor Shell
Shell Smash is obviously the point of this set, and it did it's job well too, taking out a few Pokemon, as well as paving the way for Haxorus, if not just sweeping the enemy's team outright. Icicle Spear and Rock Blast give awesome coverage, with Razor Shell working as an answer to Steels. He works along the same lines as Deoxys, being a one-time-go kind of Pokemon. It's hit or miss really, and it's rarely a miss.

612.png

Tanxorous (Haxorus) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Outrage
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake

When I started building this Pokemon, I was unsure of what kind of set I preferred on it. On one hand, Dragon Dance gave me the speed and power to hit over offensive teams, but not enough to break through stall with only one use, while on the other hand, Swords Dance helped me get around more defensive teams, but it did not grant me the speed to outpace offensive based Pokemon. Each move had it's good points, but left this Pokemon struggling against a different play style. Eventually, I decide to try both moves on the same set, and it was beautiful. For my flagship Pokemon, being as versatile as possible helped me take down numerous teams as well as surprise quite a few other players.

381.png

Arwing (Latios) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Psyshock
- Recover

Over time, this Pokemon became one of my favorite Pokemon on the team due to its ability dish out massive Life Orb hits and get it all back when you scared something in to switching. He comes in and hits hard with Draco Meteor when needed, and provides Water coverage in Surf. Psyshock just owns Blissey and the like.

462.png

Mother (Magnezone) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

This guy complemented my 2 Dragon mainstays on the team, and was obviously great at trapping and destroying Steels that this team didn't like, bar Heatran. Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt are for good STAB, and Volt Switch keeps momentum.

So my team was constructed as such for the longest time, and did well on Smogon's Pokemon Online OU ladder. Then, of course Deoxys-Speed was banished to Ubers, forcing me to change the team a small bit.

Noodle Arms (Deoxys-D) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Superpower
- Taunt

Without Deoxys-Speed, this guys was said to be the next best thing, so I tried him for a while, with no success at all. I just couldn't get things going in the same way that I had used to. He had to go.

-Deoxys-Defense
+Golem

076.png

Chunky (Golem) @ Custap Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

I planned on using this, but I don't think that Custap Berry was legal at that time for some reason. Maybe it was and I just didn't like the set. The Idea was to use Stealth Rock turn 1, getting hit down to your Focus Sash, then using the effect of Custap Berry, be able to have a Priority Explosion next turn. If you predict a Steel or Ghost switch in, then Earthquake and Stone Edge give you coverage on that as well.

-Golem
+Dugtrio

051.png

Nubs (Dugtrio) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 Atk
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

This little guy helped my do a lot of the same things that Deoxys-Speed did, in that he was really fast, and along with setting up Stealth Rocks, he could be used as a very offensive Pokemon if need be. He also trapped, which was useful in not getting your Stealth Rocks thrown back at you due to a Magic Bounce switch-in.

So that is how the team looked when I slowly became more interested in 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' for a while. Coming back now almost a year later, I can see this team needs a bit of an update. Any help would be appreciated, and also some kind of up-to-date meta threat list would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

please expand upon your descriptions if you expect rates as this is not a complete rmt. golem recieves one lines' worth of text for something that needs its position explaning clearly.

Hey Facepoet, cool team.

Sun teams with Growth Venusaur and Quiver Dance Volcarona, and Life Orb Starmie (especially in the rain) seem to be potential problems to your team. Once the sun is up, Venusaur and Volcarona can come in on Scizor or Magnezone choice-locked into an uneffective move, set-up Growth, and proceed to sweep with Giga Drain / Sludge Bomb / HP Fire for the former, and Bug Buzz / Fiery Dance from the latter. Volcarona would be more threatening, as it doesn't depend on the weather to sweep you. Starmie also outspeeds your entire team, and can one-shot everything with Hydro Pump / Ice Beam / Thunderbolt after a little prior damage. Again, Starmie doesn't neccesarily need rain, but if it is backed-up by it, then it's just going to have an easier time. Sadly, not even Scarf Magnezone outspeeds Starmie, and instead is outsped and hit hard with Hydro Pump.

Firstly, I'd suggest trying out Choice Scarf Terrakion over Cloyster, and trying a Substitute +3 Attacks set on Magnezone. Currently Magnezone is not the most efficient Revenge Killer for your team, simply because of its lacking speed. Starmie and Tornadus-T, two of the most common threats on rain teams, and two troublesome 'mons to your team can take it out with ease. Also, under rain conditions, Ferrothorn becomes hard to take down with HP Fire with no boosts, as it can just Leech Seed + Thunder Wave, set-up hazards, then repeated Power Whips. Sub Charge allows you to beat Ferrothorn regardless of the weather. You now take full advantage of any poor Steel- type you trap, as you can now accumulate multiple boosts with Charge Beam on something like Bullet Punch-locked Scizor, and put major dents in the opposition. If anything, Magnezone's role improves as a Steel- trapper, taking out Ferrothorn in rain is huge, as its one of Haxorus's and Latios's worse enemy. Revenge killing is better left to Terrakion; Terrakion is able to handle the aforementioned threats with ease, outspeeding boosted Volcarona and even Chlorophyll Venusaur (all most all of them run Modest) and putting the hurt with Stone Edge (after a round or two of LO recoil, you KO). Starmie is also handled with X-Scissor, as long as you lure out any move outside of Psyshock or Hydro Pump to switch-in with Terrakion, and same goes with Tornadus-T who is KOed with Stone Edge (Scizor can also KO Tornadus with Bullet Punch after SR). Cloyster seemed like the most replaceable member, as you already have a late-game cleaner in Haxorus (who will be very deadly anyway once Zone does its job), and all the other members cover specific threats which it doesn't (Scizor = Reuniclus, Latios = Conkeldurr), so you don't lose much from replacing Cloyster.

Lastly, for your lead, which you're having trouble settling on, I'd go back to Deoxys-D with a different Offensive set. (posted below) The set you used doesn't really mesh as well with a fast-paced team such as this because you give a lot of stuff faster than Deoxys-D set-up opportunities, and Forretress / Tentacruel don't care about Superpower, and just spin away . The offensive set below is able to put pressure, threatening a KO with its coverage moves preventing other entry hazard users from setting-up their hazards. The only thing you lose is the ability to hit Heatran with Psycho Boost and Hidden Power Fire as your coverage moves, who won't be KOed by Superpower anyway iirc, and you have Terrakion / Haxorus / Latios to take advantage of it anyway. Offensive teams hate dealing with hazards like Spikes and Toxic Spikes, and dislike it all the same when there's get some spun away, preventing crucial KOs. This set is the remedy, taking out prime rapid spinners such as Tentacruel and Forretress, and hazard users like Ferrothorn and Skarmory. The reason why this Deoxys-D is superior to the other leads you had in mind is because,Golem is forced out by a boatload of stuff, so setting-up SR will usually result in setting-up SR and then dying, because almost everything in the metagame has a move to hit it hard (Tentacrueland Forretress all have a move to threaten it with), and is set-up bait for the common entry hazard users. Dugtrio is also set-up bait for entry hazard users, can't switch-in to any move due to its paper like defenses. Deoxys-D can threaten said spinners, and most entry hazard users with its coverage moves below, and find set-up opportunities with its natural bulk. Give it a shot.
