Introduction :

Garchomp, probably one of the most overpowered Pokemon allowed in OU, has been extremely successful in the Ubers tier for me. Garchomp's offensive typing is probably one of the best in the game; Dragon hits everything hard but Steel, and Ground hits Steel for super effective. Not only is this perfect coverage in Ubers (Only levitating Steels, alike Bronzong, who are rare in Ubers), but Garchomp has an impressive 359 Attack Stat, and a move that can double it's Attack Stat in one turn. Garchomp also has an annoying 102 Base Speed, outrunning 100 Base Speed Pokemon easily. This is still an important landmark in OU, but not as much in Ubers. Garchomp's last move is basically filler, as Stone Edge only hits Lugia for super effective, but doesn't do much at all, and misses a lot. Fire Fang is an excellent move for Garchomp, as it can stop incoming Forretress to try and lay their entry hazards, expecting a Choice Scarf Outrage. The final selling point for Garchomp was that it had decent defenses, and a Stealth Rock resistance. I've used things in the past like Rayquaza and Darkrai, whom are either to relied on hitting with Dark Void and Focus Blast, or has a Stealth Rock weakness, and it can be hard to switch in, and cannot live a Dragon Claw or Ice Beam for it's life. Garchomp is only 2HKO'd by Lugia's standard Ice Beam, and Haban Berry can take an assault from anything faster.

In OU, you would pair a Dragon-type Pokemon with something that could take down Steel-type Pokemon, basically Magnezone. However, only a few Steel-type Pokemon are usually present in standard Uber teams: Forretress, Scizor and Dialga. Forretress and Scizor run away in fear of Fire Fang, however if Forry switches into a Swords Dance, Outrage can 3HKO. Dialga, whom cannot switch into Garchomp, is OHKO'd by Earthquake. Hell, even Garchomp can switch into BU Dialga, and if Garchomp Earthquakes and Dialga Bulks Up, Earthquake is a 2-3HKO. Haban Berry can save Garchomp from anything like Dialga's Outrage.

Almost every offensive Dragon- type Swords Dancer in Ubers needs Wobbuffet. Why? Well, Ubers is rampaged by Choice Scarf Dragon- or Water- type Pokemon, namely Palkia, Dialga, Garchomp, Kyogre, etc. Wobbuffet can take care of Garchomp, Palkia, and Dialga extremely easily, thanks to it's titanic HP and Counter or Mirror Coat. Kyogre can be a problem, but easily handled. Some inexperienced Uber players rely on things like Palkia to do a lot of things for them; revenge kill Rayquaza, Darkrai, Garchomp, other Palkia, and in Palkia's case, Groudon. There are basically two threats left that can outspeed Garchomp and have excess too Ice Beam; Mewtwo and Kyogre. Kyogre as said earlier can be handled easily, and Mewtwo has various checks across my team.

So that's basically it, hopefully you understand why I chose Garchomp as my main late-game sweeper. Also, sorry If I made the Intro a bit unclear, I'm not great at writing (but I love doing it) !

Dialga, the standard lead.

This lead is pretty standard, but it does a lot other than set up Stealth Rock as much as I want it too. Draco Meteor is probably one of the most used moves on the set; it OHKO's any Deo Form that's using a Lum Berry. Aura Sphere 2HKO's other Dialga's as leads, and OHKO's Darkrai. Thunder is used over Thunder Wave here, as it 2HKO's lead Kyogre. I really wish I could say more about this lead; it beats other leads with ease (other than Groudon and Specs Dialga, those leads are annoying as hell). Earthquake OHKO's Dialga, and not a lot of my Pokemon can switch into it safely. Specs Dialga OHKO's with Draco Meteor, straight up. Specs Dialga is a lot more managable, Gengar can come in with Focus Blast, or Wobbuffet can lower it's Special Attack to -6, then switch in Garchomp for a free Swords Dance.

The EVs allow me to take up 2 Kyogre Water Spouts, just in case Palkia somehow goes down. (Scarfed Garchomp on Palkia's Outrage is a good example).

Hate Stall? I do too.

Palkia is what breaks stall for me, taking out a lot of Pokemon while bluffing the Choice Scarf set. What makes Palkia great, is that Blissey can be OHKO'd by Aqua Tail after taking a predicted Spacial Rend - which means one of the most important Pokemon of Stall history will be eliminated. The rest are taken down by Spacial Rend / Outrage, and Thunder takes care of Lugia easily. Forretress is nothing but Garchomp fodder; Gyro Ball does around 30%, and is OHKO'd by a +2 Fire Fang. I originally opted for Calm Mind Latias, however Stall almost always beat me.

Palkia is still my #1 switch in for Kyogre, as Palkia takes a .25 effective Water Spout easily. Garchomp hates Scarf Kyogre, who is more than easily taken care of by Palkia (Water Spout), or Wobbuffet (Ice Beam). Also, Wobbuffet and Darkrai may seem like a huge threat to this team, however Spacial Rend + Outrage OHKO's Wobbuffet, and making Darkrai not able to switch in easily, at all. Wobbuffet usually is the #1 candidate to take Scarf Spacial Rends and OHKO back with Mirror Coat.

Also, Lustrous Orb Spacial Rend has the same power as 252 SPA Spacial Rend. Just letting you know.

Gengar?
In Ubers?

Gengar, to be even considered a check to anything, needs to known about its important immunities. Gengar is immune to Ground, Fighting, and Normal. This means Gengar can easily switch into some of the most common physical sweepers of the Uber Metagame; Rayquaza, Lucario, Garchomp, and Groudon are going to be revenge killed quite easily. Every Pokemon mentioned above is either OHKO'd by HP {Ice} or Focus Blast. In Groudon's case, however must mean that Gengar has to resort to Trick, as any Pokemon hates being trapped into a move like Swords Dance or even Rock Polish. The Normal immunity is important for one move only; Extremespeed. Unlike Garchomp, and Palkia, & Gengar takes 0% from Extremespeed for obvious reasons. Dakrai also fears Gengar, if it is caught Nasty Plotting while Gengar switches in. The only thing that blows, is that Focus Blast has shaky accuracy, and could mean gg.

Gengar doesn't work in isolation very well; it needs to switch in and out to switch attacks, as it can be very harmful if I mispredict. However, I think Gengar's 394 Special Attack, large number of checks and immunities, and the fact that it doesn't fear Wobbuffet is worth it. Gengar really hates Tyranitar / Metagross, but locked into Pursuit it's basically Garchomp SD bait. Trick really annoys Groudon, and Calm Minders. If a Pokemon is locked into Calm Mind, it means it's Garchomp set up bait, which is awesome.

Man, I hate Giratina-O, I can never get rid of it.

I love Tyranitar just because of this. Only 30% (on shoddy, not usable on Wi-Fi) pack Aura Sphere, which can be utilized by Gengar switching in, and either Tricking a Forretress switch-in, or Shadow Balling Giratina-O for STAB Super Effective damage. Even Tyranitar can survive a +1 Standard CM Aura Sphere from the standard set (+1 = 74% - 88%). STAB Crunch does roughly amount the same to Gira-O, however with no Leftovers, Stealth Rock, and Substitute "recoil" on Giratina-O's side, Tyranitar can make one of the most reliable counter to arguably one of the best Offensive Pokemon in the game. Aside from that, Tyranitar makes a handy switch in to a lot of things; mainly Calm Minders with teams that can take down Wobbuffet. (Calm Mind is probably one of the most popular move to encore, and allow Garchomp to switch in). Lati@s, Mewtwo, Lugia / Giratina, etc. all pretty much hate Tyranitar. Mewtwo is a really great check towards Garchomp, and still annoys Tyranitar as Aura Sphere will always 2HKO.

A final thing about Tyranitar; too. When Wobbuffet has Tickle, Lugia can be encored to something (like Ice Beam or Roost, Whirlwind has -2 prority ) and can allow Tyranitar to switch in, and Pursuit, getting rid of Garchomps #1 counter. Unfortunatly, Wobbuffet is often weak after the first kill (Scarf Palkia usually leaves it around 30%). However, Tyranitar can beat Lugia wth STAB Crunch if there is enough defense drops involved, and Stone Edge on the switch. Stone Edge is extremely unreliable, as Lugia has Pressure and can roost before Tyranitar attacks.

Wobbuffet clearly as stated before, is one of the most important Pokemon on the team.

Let's look at one of best ways to get rid of Garchomp: Lugia, and Scarf Dragons. First off with Lugia, Wobb works together with Tyranitar to take it out. Encoring anything before Lugia uses Whirlwind, then using Tickle to lower it's defense. Tyranitar can then switch in, and Pursuit. Wobbuffet in isolation takes care of Scarfers itself, as Mirror Coat or Counter does more for the job against locked Outrage / Spacial Rend / Dragon Claw. Garchomp cannot safely use Swords Dance with these threats in check, as they can have a decent chance of OHKO'ing through Haban Berry (however it has saved my ass a few times, it's hard to "scout" for these Scarfers).

A Bold Nature is used over Calm, since ScarfChomp's Outrage can 2HKO the Calm version. Also, I don't have a straight forward check to Groudon (whom I hate). Impish Groudons are popularizing, so I'm not too worried.

Garchomp, the Pokemon chosen to wreck havoc.

Where's too start with this? Okay, I tried to make this team 100% support Garchomp. I think I've been sufficient at that; except for Garchomp's type weaknesses (which doesn't matter MUCH). Sand Stream can help Garchomp avoid attacks, and help revenge kill Darkrai if Gengar is out, and avoid Ice Beams in general. Pursuit + Tickle helps take care of Garchomp's #1 counter - Lugia. Scarfed Dragons are taken care of by Wobbuffet, obviously. However, with the gift of Haban Berry, Garchomp can sometimes survive the onslaught of other Scarf Chomp. Wobbuffet can't be around forever (or when I don't feel like switching).

Alright, on with Garchomp's positives. I choose Garchomp (as said in the Introduction) that it's a reliable Pokemon, and has sturdy defenses. Sand Veil can help against Ice Beams, and Lugia's Ice Beam doesn't OHKO. After an Outrage, if all the Scarfers and Lugias are gone, Garchomp really can cause pain with 359, or 718 Attack, and perfect coverage (except for Bronzong). What I love about Garchomp is that all of it's attacks have 100% accuracy; unlike Darkrai. It also resists Stealth Rock, unlike Rayquaza. Outrage is annoying if a Steel -type comes in, but that doesn't happen often, and Forretress is 3HKO'd by +2 Outrage.

The only thing I dislike is the fact that Garchomp has nothing against Mewtwo. If Garchomp got Extremespeed (never happening) or if Garchomp was only x2 weak to Ice, it would probably be in the top #3 Ubers, instead of at #10.

---------
That's it! Threat List:

Kyogre: T-Wave leads aren't anything, they're 2HKO'd by Dialga. Choice Specs / Scarf are dealt with Palkia, and Dialga can be back up to take them.

Groudon: A HUGE threat to the team. Rock Polish Groudon is extremely annoying. Gengar has to come in, weaken Groudon or trick it the Scarf, and then usually I'll have to use Garchomp's Outrage straight up to get it down to 0%.

Palkia: Choice Scarf variants are nothing to Wobbuffet, however mixed ones with Outrage are annoying, and can take out Wobb. Dialga can come in, and Draco Meteor, or Tyranitar and hopefully get some damage up with Crunch.

Darkrai: Gengar is my only hope at revenge killing it; however it has a pretty hard time switching into anyone but Tyranitar's Pursuit and Wobbuffet. Garchomp can also come in, and take advantage of Sand Veil.

Rayquaza: Easily dealt with by Gengar, HP Ice KOs it without needing Stealth Rock.

Dialga: Leads are 2HKO'd by my Aura Sphere. Specs are merely set up for Wobb + Garchomp, and Bulk Up Dialga is revenge killed by Gengar with Focus Blast.

Mewtwo: Mewtwo is really annoyng; Gengar can only switch into Taunt / Aura Sphere. It outruns Garchomp, beats Wobbuffet, etc. Easily a threat to the team.

Deoxys-s: Leads are OHKO'd by Draco Meteor, 2HKO'd with Focus Sash.

Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet isn't a huge threat, it is 2HKO'd by +2 Garchomp's Outrage, or OHKO'd if it has around 20% off. Gengar beats Wobbuffet with Trick or Shadow Ball, etc. Tyranitar can Pursuit or Crunch.

Garchomp: Gengar takes care of Garchomp with HP Ice. If Gengar is absent, Tyranitar usually has to Sacrifice itself in order for something like my Garchomp to switch in, and Outrage itself. Choice Scarf variants are dealt with Wobbuffet.

Scizor: Garchomp from Fire Fang, though it somewhat annoys the rest of my team. However, it can Bullet Punch Garchomp, so it can suck sometimes.

Lugia: Tickle Wobbuffet + Pursuit T-Tar take it out easily. Gengar can smack it with a STAB Shadow Ball, or destroy it with Trick.

Blissey: Gengar can Trick and Focus Blast, Tyranitar can come in and Pursuit. With Thunder Wave, it's Garchomp set up bait.

Giratina: Without Will-o-Wisp, Garchomp can set up on it. Gengar can usually force a switch if they don't have Calm Mind.

Forretress: Forretress is merely set up fodder, it's 2HKO'd by +2 Fire Fang, and Gyro Ball only does around 30%. Otherwise, annoying as hell.

Deoxys-A: Wayy to frail to actually do anything, it can't switch in for it's life. Gengar can revenge kill, Tyranitar can Pursuit is Superpower is absent.

Latias: Calm Mind users can be Encored by Wobbuffet, or revenge killed / tricked by Gengar.

Shaymin-s: Gengar can revenge kill with HP Ice.

Giratina-o:Tyranitar is the main man, if it has Aura Sphere Gengar can get a free switch in, and trick the Shadow Ball, then Tyranitar can finish it off.

Latios: Haven't seen a lot of these, but they're the same as Latias if they're CM users.

Lucario: Gengar is immune to Extremespeed, and can OHKO with Focus Blast. Lucario can't even switch into Garchomp's Outrage.

Tyranitar: Gengar hates Tyranitar, and Focus Blast doesn't even OHKO. Tyranitar can't do much to Garchomp though, so it's set up fodder IMO.

Mew: Most of the time Mew users usually make the wrong moves, and are usually OHKO'd before it can pass. Otherwise, Palkia can have a chance to do some damage, and Garchomp can [sometimes] set up on it.

Metagross: Metagross is in the same field as Tyranitar.

Ho-oh: Stealth Rock owns it, however Sacred Fire hurts. Palkia can come in on a Sacred Fire, and Spacial Rend. Tyranitar can do the same with the risky Stone Edge.

Manaphy: IIRC, it's 2HKO'd by Palkia's Thunder. Wobbuffet can Encore / Mirror Coat.

Hi, I think I played this team before in Ubers. And to be honest you never got a Garchomp sweep. The team is very well strutured but it does have its flaws. You only have one way of beating Darkrai and if your oponent suspects you of having Choice Scarf on Gengar ( Thats really the only viable set for him on Ubers) and they switch in their Wobbufet they have a Darkrai sweep. If you replace Gengar with another pokemon then you would have that glaring SDRayquaza, DDRayquaza and SDLucario weakness. One way to keep 2 of these threats in check is to change your lead to support Groudon and change Gengar to Scarf Dialga.

You say you encore Calm Mind Latios and Latias or Revenge them but thats not the best way to deal with them. But Latios after a Calm Mind deals 62.69% - 73.86% to Wobbuffet and any good player would know better than to Calm Mind against a Wobbuffet. Latias deals 55.68% - 65.53% which is still a 2KO. While both Latios and Latias can't 2KO Tyranitar they both deal over 70% to it in two shots which cripples Tyranytars efficiency.
Latias takes 33.89% - 40.53% from a STAB Super Effective Shadow ball from Gengar after a Calm Mind while Latios takes 38.54% - 46.51% and both can KO Gengar with Dragon Pulse. CHaging Dialga to Scarf might help with this problems.

Gl!

Thanks for the suggestions, GF.

However, changing Dialga to a Scarf Version and putting Groudon as a lead spot would still give me a DD Rayquaza weakness. +1 LO Jolly Outrage will do 83% Average, and Adamant will almost always OHKO. Wobbuffet may appear when I Focus Blast, and sometimes may seem sketchy do too Gengar's STAB Shadow Ball, and Darkrai's Focus Blast can still miss on T-Tar, and Dark Pulse can miss on especially Garchomp; thanks to Sand Veil.

And with Latias / Latios, I always Trick them into their Calm Mind or Dragon Pulse with Gengar, and then switch in T-Tar for it to absorb the Dragon Pulse. I just need to play around them.

Though, I appriciate the comments, and I might try it out. Thanks!
