What's Status? (UU RMT)

Team Focus: Laugh at status while still making a functional team in the UU environment. (Easier said then done)

Roserade
dpmfsa407.png

Roserade@Focus Sash
Natural Cure Ability
EV's: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
Timid Nature

Sleep Powder
Toxic Spikes
Grass Knot/Leaf Storm
Shadow Ball

Moves: Sleep Powder is to inflict status on the opposing lead, allowing me to use Toxic Spikes freely. Toxic Spikes are my only entry hazard on the team, so I find it important to set them up. Grass Knot is STAB move in the set. Thinking of replacing it with Leaf Storm, because Roserade doesn't usually stay in too long so it won't mind the SpA drop. Shadow Ball is to hit Crobat leads early, and better coverage if Roserade is around later in the game.

Role: Roserade is almost a suicide lead for me. Its most important job is put something to sleep, then set up both layers of Toxic Spikes. After that, as much damage as possible before dieing. Focus Sash helps deal with Crobat leads, allowing me to put it to sleep.

Altaria
dpmfsa334.png

Altaria@Life Orb
Natural Cure Ability
EV's: 72 HP / 248 Atk / 190 Spd
Adamant Nature

Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Roost

Moves: Dragon Dance boosts Altaria's average Spd and below average Atk stats to usable levels. Outrage is a powerful STAB move that hurts the mass majority of the UU tier. Earthquake is for Steel types, and together with Outrage, the two moves are unresisted in the UU tier. Finally, Roost is to recover off Stealth Rock and Life Orb damage, and can reduce weaknesses.

Role: Altaria is my set-up physical attacker. It usually comes in on Earthquakes or things that can't hurt it too badly, then uses Dragon Dance on the switch. From there it attacks with its unresisted moves. Altaria is best reserved for late-game situations, after I've seen the primary ice move user, and the other team has been weakened, allowing Altaria's relatively low Atk stat to function.

Chansey
dpffsa113.png

Chansey@Leftovers
Natural Cure Ability
EV's: 12 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spd / 232 SpD
Calm Nature

Softboiled
Wish
Seismic Toss
Toxic/Thunder Wave

Moves: Softboiled is for a quick, reliable way for Chansey to heal herself. Wish is to support the rest of the team. Seismic Toss is Chansey's best way to do damage, taking into account her terrible base Atk and SpA stats. I'm currently running Toxic, but that seems redundant with Toxic Spikes support. I'm thinking of using Thunder Wave instead.

Role: Chansey is the special sponge of the team. Once she is in, I try to status the the incoming switch. Wish on the way out to ease the switch in for the next Pokemon.

Hitmonlee
dpmfa106.png

Hitmonlee@Life Orb
Limber Ability
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature

Close Combat
Mach Punch
Stone Edge
Bulk Up/Earthquake

Moves: Close Combat is primary STAB attack that hurts anything that doesn't resist it badly. Mach Punch is priority move, and when I can't afford the defense drops from Close Combat. Stone Edge is for flying types, most notably catching Crobats on the switch in. I'm running Bulk Up right now, but haven't found it useful so far, thinking of switching to Earthquake.

Role: Honestly, now that I think of it, I don't know what Hitmonlee brings to the table, other than fitting the theme of the team. In light of this realization, I'm thinking of Scarfing it to be a revenge killer, or replacing it altogether with a Scarfed Primeape. Really need advice on this slot.

Shaymin
dpmfa492.png

Shaymin@Life Orb
Natural Cure Ability
EV's: 32 HP / 228 Spd / 248 SpA
Timid Nature

Seed Flare
Earth Power
Leech Seed/Psychic
Rest

Moves: Special Shaymin without Seed Flare wouldn't make much sense, so it had to be included. Earth Power is a good Ground special attack. I'm split between replacing Leech Seed with another attack move. Leech Seed's only real use is to beat Chansey 1v1. Psychic would allow me to hit Crobat, who can come in currently with no threat. Psychic sounds very attractive because it would give me a check on Crobat, seeing as I have 3 Pokemon weak to Flying. Rest coupled with Natural Cure allows for healing.

Role: Shaymin is premier special sweeper on the team. Seed Flare is just flat out scary. Rest gives him survivability. Shaymin outspeeds the majority of Pokemon in UU so he can run rampant after Crobat is gone.

Milotic
dpmfsa350.png

Milotic@Leftovers
Marvel Scale Ability
Ev's 252 HP / 232 Def / 8 Spd / 12 SpA
Timid Nature

Surf
Ice Beam/Dragon Pulse
Rest
Sleep Talk

Moves: Surf is powerful STAB move. Ice Beam allows Milotic to hit grass types hard as well as flying types. Dragon Pulse would allow me to hit other water types, and still hurt Altaria, but I would lose power against Crobat and grass types. I still think its worth mentioning though. I don't think that anything in UU resists water and dragon. Rest and Sleep Talk give Milotic survivability and activates Marvel Scale.

Role: Milotic is the resident bulky water on the team. It kind of works as a physical wall. Rest and Sleep Talk give Milotic amazing survivability with Marvel Scale. Milotic is also my first line of defense against Crobat, pretty much being the only thing that can take a Brave Bird.

So that is my team. Hopefully, it will become more function after some imput from this community. Also, please feel free to rate this actual RMT thread on formatting, legibility, etc. Notice that this team has 4 members with Natural Cure, one that has RestTalk, and another that is immune to paralysis. Unfortunately, it also has 3 members weak to Crobat's Brave Bird, and Chansey who doesn't really want to take them either. Ways to deal with Crobat without actual member changes would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance to any and all help.

Sadly with Crobat everywhere sash-Roserade is no longer effective as it was before. If you really want to keep Roserade as your lead, then equip it with a scarf, keeping nature and EVs and using the following moveset:

-leaf storm
-toxic spikes
-sleep powder
-sludge bomb

Scarf-Roserade can put Crobat and other faster leads to sleep and is a very useful revenge killer, it's also able to switch on Shaymin effectively (just watch for air slash or hidden power ice). Just beware or Arcanine lead, which usually pack lum berry, and Ambipom lead, which can severy damage Roserade with fake out.

Your team is incredibly weak to Crobat, Swellow, Honchkrow: basically you need at least one flying resist.
On my team I'm using the following Registeel with some success, here's my suggestion:

Registeel@leftovers
nature: sassy
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 52 SAtk / 124 SDef
-iron head
-stealth rock
-thunder
-explosion

If you're interested in this set, then take a look at the new and creative moveset in Stark Mountain. Even if it's quite inaccurate, thunder prevents Crobat from taunting you and does a nice number to every pokemon weak to it (barring Milotic, which may also benefit form paralysis). Anyway, Registeel will completely wall both Crobat and Swellow, and Honchkrow can only 2HKO it with superpower. It will also provide the stealth rock support that your team lacks. I believe that you could replace Chansey with this pokemon.

Regarding Shaymin: I always suggest to run max speed if only to tie with other Shaymin, so the standard 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe is the EV spread I suggest. And yes, replace leech seed with psychic or hidden power ice (which still does up to 70% to the standard Crobat), with the latter useful specially to beat other Shaymin and Altaria.

Regarding Hitmonlee: unless you're keeping it for some particular reason, Blaziken is a lot better. If you're looking for a wall breaker, then use the life orb set, instead, if you need a powerful revenge killer, then use the scarf set. So:

Blaziken@life orb
nature: rash
EVs: 240 Atk / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
-superpower
-fire blast
-hidden power electric
-vaacum wave

or

Blaziken@choice scarf
nature: rash
EVs: 84 Atk / 184 SpA / 240 Spe
-superpower
-thunderpunch
-hidden power ice
-fire blast

About Altaria: I believe that 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe is a good EV spread, giving you a decent bulk while outspeeding base 110 positive natured pokemon after a DD. I would also consider giving it leftovers, since Altaria is your only safe switch into fighting pokemons.

That's all I guess. Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Running Toxic Spikes on Roserade in the current UU environment isn't really that viable, unfortunately. Roserade is what? 3rd or 4th most used? Not to mention people still like to use their Venusaurs and Drapions. Simply put, there's too many grounded poison types in UU right now, and nearly every team has them. Suiciding Roserade to set up Toxic Spikes, just to have them absorbed later is bad, since you're down a Pokemon then, so I recommend you alter this strategy a little bit. Scarfing it would allow you to outspeed Crobat (although, when I see Roserade, I immediately think Scarf, and switch to Honchkrow, which kills with Pursuit. So be careful of that). Running Spikes would give you a viable entry hazard, but wouldn't let you run Sleep Powder, since it's an illegal combination. Although if you ran Registeel like Haunter is suggesting, you could use Stleath Rock there, still run Sleep Powder and Scarf, and just sub another attacking move in for Toxic Spikes. Either way, Toxic Spikes = not good in UU right now.

That's really all I have to say. Good luck on your team.

This looks like it's on the way to be a solid team, but its not quite there yet.

You have a few overall weakness:

-No Ghost, to block Sping, and not even having a way to deal with Hitmontop.

-No SR. Its important to not give Pokemon like Yanmega and Moltres free switch-ins.

-Lack of Poison Type counters / killers. They can just absorb your Tspikes.

-Lack of Crobat / Krow / Swellow Check

-Lack of SubCM Missy check.

Roserade

I would personally make the Roserade set look something like this:

Roserade @ Focus Sash
nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
-Sleep Powder
-Toxic Spikes
-Sludge Bomb
-Leaf Storm

This way, you can actually deal a shit-ton of damage to Pokemon when you aren't setting up Tspikes.

While I don't exactlly "love" Toxic Spikes in the current UU environment, its definitely usable with people often having their Poison slot covered by Crobat, who cant absorb Tspikes.

Altaria

Altaria is fine, but I'd change the EV spread to be bulkier. Haunter suggested 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe, and that seems a little better.

_______________________

Chansey

I have a bias against Chansey in general, but I'd definitely go with Registeel here.

Registeel @ Leftovers
nature: Sassy
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Atk / 156 SpD
-Iron Head
-Stealth Rock
-Zap Cannon
-Explosion

This will help you with your general Flying-type weakness. Zap Cannon can Paralyze Crobat through Taunt, and is generally a real handy tool against some bulkier water-types.

Registeel also gives you a nice Missy counter, which you lack atm.
____________________

Hitmonlee

I'd definitely say you should put Medicham here. I'd recommend this:

Medicham @ Choice Scarf
nature: Adamant / Jolly
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Hi Jump Kick
-Psycho Cut
-Ice Punch
-ThunderPunch

Or my personal favorite:

Medicham @ Life Orb
nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Fake Out
-Bullet Punch
-Psycho Cut
-Brick Break

This set can allow you to Wall Break effectively, and also do Medicham's main Job of luring out Grounded Poisons.

The reason I like Medicham on this team, is because you need something to take out the Grounded Poisons. What better to lure a Poison type out than a Fighting type? With Medicham's Psychic STAB, it can put an end to basically any Poison type in the metagame.

It also helps you with Hitmontop. You have a ton of trouble if Hitmontop spins your spikes away.
_____________________________

Shaymin

There is really no reason why you shouldn't be running Max SpA and Max Spe to tie with other Shaymin.

Also, make sure to forget about Leech Seed as an option, Psychic will help you further vs Poison types.
_______________________

Milotic

Looks fine, I'd make sure you keep Ice Beam > Dragon Pulse however.
_________________

So with these Changes, lets go over your main weaknesses.

-Poison types. Check, Medicham does this good.

-Hitmontop. Check, Medicham again.

-Flying-types. Registeel is perfect here.

-Stealth Rock. Registeel provides this

-MissyM weakness. Registeel is a perfect counter.

I hope this helps!

First I just want to thank everyone that has responded to this team so far. Now I'm going to go test play these suggestions, and I'll update the OT later. I'll be testing:

Putting a scarf on Roserade and/or adding Spikes over TS.
Replacing Chansey with Registeel.
Scarfing Hitmonlee, or replacing with ScarfBlaziken/ScarfApe/ScarfCham

I changed Altaria to be slower and bulkier, gave Shaymin Psychic, and will be keeping Ice Beam on Milotic.
