So, hey guys I'm rukkiko or Pr0phet. I've been lurking here for almost three years now and enjoy playing competitively when I have spare time. In preparation for the upcoming tournament, I decided I want to get the best possible team I can asap! I've come up with this rain team that has had some success. Hopefully as my team improves and as my playmaking improves, I will do well as time passes. Enough about me though, let's look at these sexy guys and gals :)
Politoed (F) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Hypnosis
The one and they only (in OU that is)! I chose Scarftoad because of how often it surprises opponents. Not only does it hit hard (rain or not, this thing laughs at Ttars and Ninetales), but it also sleeps a lot of leads that could pose a serious pain throughout the match (glares at anti-leads).
Starmie @ Expert Belt
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Grass Knot
Can I mention how much I love this thing? My favorite sea star (sorry Patrick) is not only a good attackers, but it spins those nasty little rocks away. Hydro Pump just hurts most things that even come its way. Ice Beam is for those pesky dragons, while Grass Knot finishes the set to cover water or water/ground mons. I run Expert Belt to get maximum damage while saving Starmie from LO recoil.
Mamoswine (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Endeavor
- Added thanks to Joeyboy! -
This guy is a huge surprise factor to people. I like to use it to take out threats and those who think they have a nice sweep coming there way. You send him in, and Endeavor them right in the face. Well that only works once right? NO!!! Ice shard for the KO and do w/e damage he can. Mamo also helps battle other weather starters and dents dragons (if not killing them).
Jolteon (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Ice]
I love, love, love this thing!!1 Many of times I have seen Jolteon take out 2-3 members of a team and barely harmed. It’s speed + Expert Belt makes it a very unpredictable sweeper. Sub + BP is used to assist Dragonite and Toxicroak so they can do their damn thing. <333333333
Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Roost
- Substitute
Switch to Sub DD Nite, as I found it A LOT easier to setup and wreck stuff. This spot used to belong to CB Azumarill and then MoxieDos. However, I soon thought hmm… why not take the biggest pain in the ass in the OU metagame… and give him a starting job? Clever huh?
Toxicroak (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Cross Chop
- Ice Punch
I needed a more reliable killer for steels and others that feared this guy, so I switched from SubPunch to LO SD. Now that I don't have to worry about a sub, I can get this guy to become a murderer with ONE SD! I honestly love this mon in every form, and this was the best set I could fit.
All advice - set switches, mon switches, or just singular move swaps - are welcome!
