Where is Saint Patrick now?

I've never been a fan of weather teams so almost all my teams are non-weather and feature a bit of everythingh from stall to offense making them quite offensive but at the same time very bulky. Though now onto the reason I chose the title for the RMT. Everyone knows the old tale of how Saint Patrick killed off all the snakes in Ireland don't they? Well this team is based focused around the pretty smug snake pokemon Serperior. So I guess St. Patrick missed one didn't he?

I've wanted to use serperior for a while now, I realy like it's design and I know its ability definately has some competitive potential. So after getting raped by a subseed sceptile, I thought it was time to have incorporate one onto my team.

I saw this set a while back on another RMT (Fable, I think) and I really like it. It hits alot and very hard, though it doesn't have much synergy with serperior it rips wholes in opposing teams to allow serperior to come in.

My friend makaveli and I came up with the Heatran/Gliscor/Tentacruel core a while back, it puts a twist on the standard Skarmory/Heatran/Gastrodon core, and still allows me to counter weather quite well.

After adding all that I realized that Virizion can cause some serious problems if it gets a Calm Mind boost, so I added CB mamoswine to hit it and opposing dragon types that can wall serperior.

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Toxic

Heatran is excellent in its role. It handles sun teams, and checks Volcarono. This is the first part of the defensive core, and it checks the one of the three weathers. The Evs are standard and maximize special bulk. Stealth Rock makes it easier for Virizion to sweep, lava plume has been chosen for its 30 percent burn rate which can nerf physical attackers. Toxic is to hit bulky waters and walls that would otherwise wall heatran.Roar is used as a valid way to beat Volcorona.

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Protect
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
- Taunt

Gliscor is excellent, it checks Excadrill and Conkelldur who would give this team a lot of trouble. Gliscor has excellent synergy with Heatran, being immune to Earthquake and resisting fighting type moves. It fills the role of a bulky sweeper. The Evs are standard and allow Gliscor to outpace max Speed Tyranitar and all Adamant Breloom, yet still allow it to maintain amazing physical bulk to counter Excadrill and Conkeldurr. Protect allows me to stall out for more health and scout out the enemy team, ice fang is to hit flying pokes and levitate users. Earthquake is STAB and can which can put a big dent in opposing pokemon. Taunt is stop phazers and other pokemon from setting up.

073.gif

Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Hex

Tentacruel allows me to set up toxic spikes, which allows serperior to outstall with subseed alot more effecitively. He also acts as my spinner to get rid of any entry hazards. Scald is his Primary STAB attack, it's burn rate is quite high and a burn on a physical attacker always helps. Hex allows me to take adavantage of any pokemon who has been burned or poisoned and inflict alot of damage, it also allows me to hit jellicent.

473.gif

Mamoswine (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

The standard CB mamoswine set. I have used it in the past and really enjoyed it, the boosted ice shard is just so lethal. Mamoswine has gained a great ability in Thick Fat as he now only takes neutral damage from Fire Type attacks and resists ice attacks. Icicle Crash is the main ice STAB, with Ice Shard to cath faster dragon types and virizion. Earthquake is a very powerful STAB attack and gains excellent coverage with stone edge.

Hydreigon (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Surf
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse

Hydreigon has an incredible special attack stat, and a fantastic movepool. So expert belt is definately an item that Hydreigon benefits from. Draco Meteor acts as an incredibly powerful STAB. Dark Pulse allows me to do loads of damage to jellicent. Focus Blast hits non-scarfed tyranitars, and heatran. Surf also hits heatran but demolishes gliscors too.

Serperior (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Contrary
EVs: 16 HP / 252 SAtk / 240 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power [Ice]

The star of the team. He is the only pokemon in the team I would definately not consider changing. Anway, onto the set. It works the same as any other subseeder, just sit behind your subsitute and leech seed the enemy to wear them down. However serperior has contrary which when he uses Leaf Storm actually doubles his Special Attack, turning him into a very potent special sweeper. 240 Spe gives him enough speed to outspeed the genie who I can hit with HP Ice, Leaf storm is my primary STAB and boosts his Special Attack.

Serperior is the only pokemon in the team I wouldn't consider changing, since it is the focus of the team after all. However I would change its set if need be. I hope you enjoyed reading my RMT and am looking forward to everyones' input.

I dont see why youre running HP Ice on Serperior when you have Mamoswine to cover Dragon Types. Then again, theres also no reason for HP Fire, as you have a Heatran AND a Gliscor, who cover almost every Steel Type with ease. Now, your team is considerably weak to Dragons, as your only Steel type is Heatran, and as you may have guessed, many dragons carry coverage moves that will easily OHKO your Heatran. Mamoswine is good at revenging Dragons, however its very bad at switching in, and you really need a Dragon switch in. A good one would be Bronzong, who completely destroys Latios, and also has good synergy with Heatran. Bronzong gives you Stealth Rock too, which means you can free a spot on Heatran for something like Earth Power, which helps against Chandelure.

Why Hex on Tentacruel? You have Serperior who completely shits on Jellicent, so theres really no reason to run that to be honest. Hell even though Tentacruel gives you Toxic Spikes, its just slowing you down. Your team is very offensive, it cant let shit like Thundurus switch in and set up, otherwise youll get destroyed. You can run a Starmie over it, which gives you Rapid Spin and a water type, but also gives you something to revenge Thundurus with if you change Mamoswine. Life Orb Hydro Pumps will hit everything that switches in hard, and Starmie lures Jellicent and Blissey in like no other, giving Serperior a chance to switch in and start leech seeing.

Now, your biggest problem is probably Keldeo. It will 6-0 you with Calm Mind, Mystery Sword, and Surf, and Keldeo is very common so you really dont want that. Problem is to find what to replace, so id just go with changing your Serperior set from a primarily defensive one to a Life Orb one. This means Leaf Storm will still one shot Keldeo even after +1, and it also makes Serperior hit incredibly hard. You can keep everything else, you have Leech Seed to recover Health in case a Blissey switches in. Oh and by the way a +2 LO Leaf Storm followed by a +4 one will 2HKO any Blissey with SR up, just felt like letting you know.

I Agree with Reyscarface, you Defiantly need a Dragon-Type switch in.

A Defensively orientated Bronzong would really help set the table for checking Dragon types and stopping them dead.

If you were to use Bronzong, i would get rid of stealth rocks on Heatran for a Coverage move, Earth Power comes to mind as it can take other Heatrans. Also, a mixed defensive wall set for Bronzong is ideal, with enough Attacking Ev's to 3 HKO common dragons.

Preferred Bronzong Set:

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 244 HP / 40 Atk / 80 Def / 144 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock / Reflect / Light Screen (If you choose to keep stealth rock on Heatran.)
- Toxic / Light Screen / Reflect (Toxic Can wear opposing Enemy down, but you can never out stall anything with Bronzong. You can use a Reflect / Light-screen version to secure a Serperior sweep.)
- Earthquake

Ok, why do you have Rain Dish on Tentracruel? You don't have any Rain-inducing pokes, might as well give it Liquid Ooze for Seeders
Also, change its item to Black Sludge. It will help in Item Clause

Pretty good team. Watch out for Mixape though. If it were me I would ditch Hydregion. Conkeldurr and especially Genesect in DW are EXTREMELY common. Both are some of his biggest counters. Magnezone or Probopass could serve as a counter to Genesect on a resisted Thunderbolt/Ice Beam.
