This is my first RMT and I'm new to competetive battling, I've learnt a great deal here on Smogon and to have my team rated will only help me grow. I've tested this team extensively on Shoddy and anything obvious to me has been hammered out. Any and all input will be appreciated. So here goes.
Froslass
Timid ~ Snow Cloak ~ Focus Sash
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Moveset:
~ Spikes
~ Taunt
~ Destiny Bond
~ Ice Beam
This is where I started, I bred and EV'd this girl many years before the RNG was cracked and shes nearly flawless (16/31/31/31/29/31). Also one of the most effective leads I've ever used. Typical story, Spike where you can, Taunt is for your slower leads that wish to status you or for you to encourage a switch with your opponant expecting a Destiny Bond. Ice Beam is for STAB but also leads such as Ambipom will almost always taunt you so why give them a free turn when you can predict and hit them hard. Focus Sash eases prediction as you a guaranteed to survive the 1st turn (with the exception of the rare lead carrying a multi-hit move)
I've considered swapping out Destiny Bond For Pain Split, changing to leftovers, and moving some EVs to bulk it up, Its a great suicide lead but once shes gone I lack any other entry hazard or any kind of spin blocker. Not a huge problem but it is one none the less.
Sceptile
Timid ~ Overgrow ~ Choice Specs
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Moveset:
~ Leaf Storm
~ Energy Ball
~ Focus Blast
~ Hidden Power Ice
In the case of Froslass fainting, or Destiny Bonding, this guy is my early sweeper. If/When I need to switch Froslass out for a more appropriate counter this guy will remain hidden. The choice Specs are a very welcome boost to my Sp Atk but the locking into one move can tie your hands if hes not played correctly. Energy Ball for STAB, or Leaf Storm is also there for a stronger revenge kill if needed. Focus Blast for those annoying steels that like to switch in on him. Then HP Ice.... Wow! Can confuse your opponant by switching in on a Grass type like Venusaur, get revenge kills on the likes of Altaria.
Drapion
Jolly ~ Sniper ~ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Moveset:
~ Swords Dance
~ Crunch
~ Earthquake
~ Cross Poison
My 2nd sweeper, with only 1 weakness this guy is easy to switch in, plus he just loves those Toxic Spikes that get tossed around in the UU environment. After just one Sword Dance this bug is scary. Cross Poison is STAB and has a high crit rate to go along with Sniper ability. Crunch is again STAB, I perfer it over Night Slash for the higher base power, coupled with Life orb instead of Scope Lense I believe its the right choice. EQ for coverage.
Grumpig
Calm ~ Thick Fat ~ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
~ Rest
~ Sleep Talk
~ Psychic
~ Toxic
Now we've made it to the motor and gears, The star of my team, Grumpig. Can switch in on any fire attack, ice attack, take minimal damage, and rest off the damage. Sleep Talk then lets you either cripple them with Toxic, or hit them with psychic. Moltres who is so popular in UU doesnt have a hope in hell of countering this guy. Max Sp Atk Life Orb Fire Blast merely does 28.8% - 34.1% Damage. In return Psychic can break Stall Moltres sub in just one hit.
Hitmontop
Adamant ~ Technician ~ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
~ Mach Punch
~ Pursuit
~ Rapid Spin
~ Bullet Punch
Hitmontop, Priority, he just loves to revenge kill. But not only that, he spins away hazzards. If someone has laid down a few layers of spikes and a SR then see this guy, BOOM, in comes the ghost to block, happens so often! I've never known a pokemon to cause as many switches. But wait, we have Pursuit! Not only have we severely hurt the pokemon fleeing, we've also got a weapon to hit our newly arrived ghost. I've changed this spread and moveset so many times I believe it is now nearly perfect for supporting my teams needs.
Claydol
Impish ~ Levitate ~ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 114 Atk / 144 Def
~ Rapid Spin
~ Earthquake
~ Toxic
~ Stone Edge
Again with the Spinning. Due to the amount of switching I do with a wall like Grumpig which, although its versatile, can also be exploited by a smart opponant, I make sure those hazzards are minimized. Toxic again for more status support, EQ for a powerful STAB and Stone Edge for coverage. Unfortunately the accuracy of Stone Edge has cost me more than a battle or two so any suggestion here I will take very seriously. Claydol is also my Raikou counter for obvious reasons, Immune to para and thunder attacks and packs a powerful STABed EQ to smash his subs or send him back to his dog box if hes cheeky enough to try a calm mind.
