ORAS Doubles OU Whimsical Tricks

I have been toying with this team for a bit and I think I am pretty happy with how it has turned out. So please, give me some feed back.

How it plays: I typically lead with Amoonguss and Mega-Gengar, first turn Rage Powder and Perish Song, Rage Powder typically guarantee the Parish song. I have Eject Button on Amoonguss so when he is hit after the Perish song goes off it will force my switch without losing momentum, now at this point I will make a choice on who ti switch too, if I feel like Gengar has a chance of dying sue to being focused I bring in Gothitelle because of her bulk and support-ish move pool a long with Shadow tag, this guarantees the Perish kills and allows me to switch out my Gengar with no worry. Now depending on who I switch to (typically Whimsicott or Goth) I will use Trick Room to start my trick set up. I will continue as a standard Trick Room team until it ends then I have options. Whimsicott is a big player in my team as well, access to Prankster helps when my Trick Room is not set up. Whimsicott allows me to do disable and Encore combo to prevent certain threats from moving and not allowing a switch due to shadow tag. this combo with Perish song again, guarantees kills.

Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Note: Whimsicott is my favorite pokemon and a preferred member of the team so I'd prefer to keep it in.

Gengar-Mega @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Timid Nature
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Disable
- Shadow Ball

1) Gengar and Whimsicott are the main heads of the team, they are really what this team is based around. 2) Gengar is one of my two leads, I bring it in to set up Perish song and prevent them from leaving with Shadow Tag
3) I chose to go with Perish song since it is one of the main strats of my team, it sets up for easy kills and decimates the enemy with ease, cupeled with Shadow Tag they make an excellent combo.
Disable is on this set to get rid of problematic moves and to combo with Whimsicott's Encore to lock the enemy out from doing anything. Doing this buys me time to set up or focus on a different poke in general.
Protect is to stall for perish and make sure Gengar does die so they can switch out.
Shadow Ball is there for late game and when i cannot focus on Perish song, it provides great damage and is another kill method

Amoonguss @ Eject Button
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Rage Powder
- Spore
- Stun Spore
- Protect

1) Great staller and allows me to set up with ease
2) Amoonguss's main role is to Rage Powder to protect my offensive forces.
3) Eject Button allows the quick switch when hit to avoid Momentum loss.
Rage Powder makes him the focal point so my other Pokes dont ahve to worry about being hit and i can control the battle.
Spore is used to shut down problematic pokemon and Stall out.
Stun Spore is for paralyzing faster pokemon when Trick Room is not up to give me an edge and to hopefully stop an attack entirely.
Protect is for stalling out and keeping him alive.

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Taunt
- Moonblast
- Encore
- Trick Room

1) I chose him due to his Prankster and diverse move pool
2) It is meant to provide support along with an easy out to dragons with its Fairy typing and Moonblast.
3) Prankster outspeeds pretty much any pokemon since he gets a priority boost, and I opted for max speed and timid to outspeed all other prankster users just incase.
Encore is to lock a poke into a status move or to combo with disable to prevent any movement at all locking a pokemon out.
Taunt is to be used on set up pokemon to force a switch and lock them out of setting up.
MoonBlast is to be used as an easy out for the dragon typing and as a damaging move incase I myself get taunted
Trick Room is because its trickroom, it aids most of my team since they are extremely slow and benefit from it a lot.

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- Knock Off
- Power-Up Punch
- Poison Jab
- Mach Punch

1) extremely strong Physical Sweeper with a low speed
2) Physical Sweeper
3) Guts + Flame Orb to boost attack and get easy OHKOs
Knock Off is to deal with Psychic types and to remove problematic items
Power-up Punch is used to boost my attack without having to lose much momentum, however I typically only use it to finish off an enemy when Trick Room it up or to boost while the enemy pokes are locked.
Poison Jab is used to deal with Fairy and provides nice damage and coverage.
Mach Punch is for priority killing or revenge killing an enemy that is faster when Trick Room is down.

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Signal Beam
- Energy Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Psychic

1) Slow but extremely strong, benefits from Trick Room
2) Special sweeper
3) Life Orb + Magic Guard to get the boost but not lose HP because of it, makes sweeping even resisted enemies easy.
Signal Beam to deal with those pesky Dark types and Grass types, needed since my team has a decent weakness to dark.
Energy Ball is for coverage
Flash Cannon is also for coverage, this move is honestly up for change if there is something that could do better.
Psychic is a great STAB move and does a lot of damage

Gothitelle @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Helping Hand
- Heal Pulse

1) Great support/Wall, Shadow Tag
2) Shadowtag so I can switch Gengar with no worry and to support/wall
3) Trick Room (see above)
Psychic is a great STAB move and allows it to get offsome damage if needed
Helping Hand is for when I switch into Conkeldurr, it hives him a boost in attack and makes OHKOs even easier, especially on pokemon the resist
Heal Pulse is used to Heal up my Gengar or other pokemon I am supporting to keep them in the battle, this is needed since I run very few sweepers

Hi there, welcome to Smogon! Unfortunately I'll have to lock this for the time being as the RMT rules require that you provide in-depth descriptions for each Pokemon to explain your choices and their roles. Please read the rules carefully and take a look at other RMTs and the RMT archive to see the kind of detail and format we require. PM me with updated descriptions and I'll be happy to unlock this.

Hey there!

Let's start. Your team seems a little bit weird from the get-go. Gengar in Trick Room is always a little bit shaky in my opinion, due to it's high base speed. Whimsicott also seems like a fairly awkward setter. Anyway, let's go a little bit more in-depth.

On Gengar, I would change up your set a little bit, which will be down below in the importable. Overall, this looks fairly good.

On Reuniclus, I would change up the set entirely. While Reuniclus seems like a good attacker, it's very slow and thus seems like a better Trick Room setter than Whimsicott. I would use the set below:

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 152 HP / 36 Def / 252 SpA / 68 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Trick Room
- Protect

Focus Blast is to beat Dark-types and Normal-types that normally would be threatening to your team. Overcoat is necessary to have a viable Sleep switch-in. You could also use a Colbur Berry, if you're afraid of Dark-types ravaging your team.

On Whimsicott, I would go with Protect over Trick Room. As you've said in your RMT already, it's Protect is important to stall out turns and shift momentum, also Whimsicott is extremely frail lol.
I would change your speed a little bit because with 0 Speed IVs it's a little bit counterproductive. I would also change your item Leftovers to Focus Sash. Whimsicott is EXTREMELY frail and will get KOd by basically anything that even attacks it.

On Conkeldurr, I would also change up your set a little bit. Flame Orb together with Guts is strong, but Assault Vest gives you much more longetivity, which is quite necessary on this team. I would go with Hammer Arm over Power-Up Punch. Hammer Arm lowers your speed so you'll be a lot more effective in Trick Room, and Power-Up Punch doesn't much anyway when you're slowly getting chipped away by Flame Orb. I would also change Poison Jab to Ice Punch, as you're low on Landorus-T checks and that's a really crucial Pokemon.

Gothitelle seems okay, but I would change it to this EV spread:
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 40 SpA / 56 SpD
Sassy Nature

This spread lives a Modest Life Orb Dark Pulse from Hydreigon from full; or lives 2 Adamant LO Brave Birds from Talonflame from full with Sitrus Berry. Dump into special attack allows it to always 2HKO standard Relaxed non-Sitrus Berry (Rocky Helmet) Amoonguss.

Lastly, I would go with Landorus-T over Amoonguss. Right now your Amoonguss only has supportive moves which seems a bit weird, considering you're completely ignored by Safety Goggles. Not only that, but your Talonflame matchup is abysmal and Landorus-T is probably your best bet. A Life Orb Landorus-T seems very strong in this situation, as Intimidate really helps dealing with opposing Landorus-T, Talonflame, and other pesky physical attackers you might struggle with.
Life Orb Earth Power / Stone Edge / Hidden Power Ice is great, as you won't hit your own Pokemon, still have the benefit of Intimidate, and you can deal with opposing Landorus-Therians.

I hope I have helped, if you have any other questions feel free to ask me, or any other Doubles player that is active in RMT, such as Yellow Paint or deoxys speed lol. ^_^

Ability: Prankster

Yeah I get the Gengar thing on paper but in practice it is really nice and works really well. Perish Trap just seems to go extremely well with Trickroom and it allows me to have more versatility if my trickrooms die. Same goes for Whimsi.

Okay I gotcha, and I agree for the most part. My main problem though is without Poison Jab or Flash Cannon I don't have much to deal with M Gardevoir or Sylveon, any suggestions on them.

However, I agree that Landorus could be very helpful with the Tflame matchup and that Amoonguss is completely blocked by safety goggles, he helps a lot by taking the pressure off my offensive poke, something that Landorus doesnt seem able to do, but the extra damage might eliminate my need for that. Also with the eject button it allowed me to to a quick switch and get Goth out faster so I didnt lose a turn because Rage Powder protected my Gengar and let me switch into Goth in the same turn allowing him to get a free disable off.

Now thinking back Land's Intimidate might prove to help a lot by keeping Genar alive.

My question is if not Amoon who should I lead with, Landorus, whimsi? Well I guess leading with Whimsi could allow me to lock the pokemon in with disable/encore from the start and watch them die from perish song. That might work better than Amoon after all

On the Focus sash I whole-heartedly agree, that was one of my main problem was keeping Whimsi alive from anything thats super eff. I just for some reason felt like I needed the leftovers, but in practice they didnt do much outside Subseed.
Didnt realize I had put 0IVs in Whimsi's speed xD man I am blind.

Edit:
After testing your changes you suggest seem to weaken the team, a lot.

I now get destroyed by Azumarill and gardevoir because I dont have any viable solutions for them, also without rage powder from Amoon my Gengar has been killed 90% of the time before getting Perish Song off.

Also with the changes to Reun I dont have the coverage I relied on with him which is why I had such a diverse movepool.

So in conclusion, without leading with Amoon to protect Gengar I get sweeped by any offensive leads.

Help would be much appreciated.
