[OVERVIEW]

Whimsicott has a usable niche as a decent support Pokemon, but it's seriously lacking in every other department. Its Prankster ability lets it to make excellent use of its wide support movepool, which includes moves like Fake Tears, Encore and Taunt, but most notably Tailwind. Prankster Tailwind is a great tool, as it immediately enables many strong attackers, and it can even be consistently set while opposing speed control is up, which is invaluable to the Hyper Offense teams Whimsicott is usually found on. Pokemon like Heatran, Urshifu-R, Zygarde, and Landorus especially appreciate Whimsicott's support, and the latter two can threaten the Fire-types, like Incineroar, that Whimsicott hates. Heatran and Landorus further benefit from Fake Tears. Whimiscott also has limited defensive utility, as its typing allows it to switch in on the likes of Rillaboom, Zygarde, and Urshifu-R, although its poor defenses make this risky. This same bad bulk, alongside its overall poor typing, means Whimsicott has trouble setting Tailwind multiple times, as it struggles to stay in for multiple turns or switch back in after leaving the field. Whimsicott also has difficulty against teams with Psychic Terrain or Tsareena, both of which negate most of its support movepool, bar Tailwind. Finally, Whimsicott faces competition from other Tailwind setters such as Naganadel and Mew. The former possesses powerful offensive pressure, and the latter has a massive support movepool, which includes Fake Out, and fantastic bulk, which makes setting Tailwind multiple times a cinch.

[SET]
name: Prankster Support
move 1: Tailwind
move 2: Taunt / Encore
move 3: Moonblast / Fake Tears
move 4: Protect / Fake Tears
item: Focus Sash
ability: Prankster
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Prankster Tailwind is Whimiscott's main niche, allowing it to instantly provide speed control for a teammate like Urshifu-R, Zygarde, or Heatran.

* Taunt can be used to prevent status moves like Tailwind and Trick Room from opposing Pokemon, while Encore lock the foe into an unfavorable move, like Protect, Fake Out, or Tailwind. Both greatly benefit from Prankster's priority.

* Moonblast allows Whimiscott to decently check Zygarde and Urshifu-R while also providing chip damage for its team.

* Fake Tears further supports special attackers such as Heatran and Landorus by helping them break through bulkier Pokemon like Tapu Fini and Porygon2.

* Protect allows Whimiscott to block Fake Out and preserve its Focus Sash.

* Focus Sash guarantees Whimsicott can take a hit, which can allow it to get a support move off after setting Tailwind or a second Tailwind later.

* A Timid nature allows Whimsicott to Speed tie with other Whimsicott, in addition to outspeeding Landorus. 252 HP EVs can be used if Moonblast isn't used.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Memento cripples attackers until they switch and provides momentum, which can be invaluable on hyper offense teams. However, it doesn't provide as much utility as Whimsicott's other moves while also sacrificing it on use.

ctrl+f fake tears gives me zero results, please add to main set, probs slashed under Moonblast and Protect (attack-less has seen usage). Taunt shoudl likely be slashed with Encore as above it, I'm p sure no one has used both and preventing stuff like Speed control is generally better than preventing Protect (which it still does even without actually running the move as long as it doesn't reveal all 4 moves). So set should look like:

move 1: Tailwind
move 2: Taunt / Encore
move 3: Moonblast / Fake Tears
move 4: Protect / Fake Tears

OV
  • Give Fake Tears an appropriate amount of regocnition here. You would probably have to rewrite the OV a bit, Fake Tears gives Whimsicott a lot of agency offensively when paired with the appropriate partners
  • "Drifting in from the Unova region, this mischievous cotton ball" is probably pushing it for fluff, cut.
  • We don't have to mention the dynamic Speed thing, it should be assumed by now that people know about it; it's really at the same level as mentioning cross-generation differences which we also cut.
  • " However, Whimsicott has several other issues besides Fire-types", fluff, cut
  • " ts aforementioned poor bulk means it can usually only use Tailwind twice before fainting, an issue which other Tailwind setters usually don't have " is a statement im skeptic on; a lot of the time, two Tailwinds is more or less what I'd expect from most setters, only expecting more if they have to be played conservatively. The real problem with Whimsicott is that getting a reset is complicated; it either has been on the field for too long, in which case its frailty should get exposed sooner or later, or it needs to switch in, which it can only do on a fainted teammate as hardswitching in with its bulk is a really ambitious idea.
  • "Whimsicott also struggles immensely against Fake Out leaving it open to attack, especially without Protect." is not a Whimsicott-exclusive problem.
  • "To top it all off, it faces stiff competition from most other users of Tailwind, who bring better bulk and offensive utility to the table." - is something you should expand on overall in this Overview. Expand on what makes Whimsicott's niche as a Tailwinder: what kind of teams does it fit in? How is it better at fitting in these teams? Why is it worse than others, and who are these Tailwinders it's competing against? Also, as an aside, I don't think saying that other mons have better offensive utility is a fully accurate statement: even without Fake Tears in the analysis, Prankster Tailwind, Taunt, and Encore are all pretty much offensive utility in a practical sense, the latter two being huge deterrents to counterplay.
Moves
  • Fake Tears
  • Mention the things that Timid also lets you Moonblast with relative safety.
  • Order the moves according to the set i gave

OO
  • Memento is half-decent as it's both disruption and free momentum.
tell me through whatever mode of communication when implemented

the overview is too long lol! find as much ways as you can condense the information there. reread it again, and consider which bits of informaton are related enough that you could weave them together in a single thought, and consider the bits of information that are either redundant or, in the grand scheme of things, unimportant, and deal with them accordingly.
  • Prankster Tailwind is an great tool as it immediately enables the numerous Pokemon who benefit from it. This alone gives it a solid niche on Hyper Offense teams, as instant Tailwind allows the strong attackers present on them, such as Urshifu-R and Heatran, to circumvent one of their main weaknesses much easier - condensable
  • Whimsicott is also the fastest Tailwind setter in the tier as it outspeeds the other Prankster Tailwind Pokemon, Tornadus. Its access to Fake Tears also gives it an edge, allowing it to offensively support its teammates further - condensable
  • Whimiscott pairs nicely with a slew of offensive Pokemon such as Heatran, Zygarde, Landorus, and Urshifu-R. Zygarde and Landorus in particular are great partners due to their ability to threaten the Fire-types that Whimsicott hates. - can be weaved into the first one i bulleted here, with the information in the second sentence mentioned in tangent.
  • Whimiscott's Grass/Fairy typing is also solid defensively, allowing it to switch in on the likes of Rillaboom, Zygarde, and Urshifu-R's STAB moves, although its poor defenses makes this risky... However, Whimsicott's aforementioned poor bulk means it has trouble setting Tailwind multiple times, as it would ether need to stay on the field for the entire duration of Tailwind, which increases the likelihood of its bulk being exposed, or it would need to switch in, which is also not ideal due to its troubles switching in mid-turn and losing a Pokemon to safely bring it in is not always a favorable situation. - condensable, also really too long im afraid. like i know i said those scenarios in the check but you didn't have put the entire thing in lol

Also, for actual points on content
  • Set: Make it 252 SpA again, because if not people will end up having their Moonblast not even KO Urshifu-Rs. Mention 252 HP if not running MB
  • OV: The ability to snowball is a really minor thing on Naganadel so you could just not mention it in the comparison
  • Taunt / Prankster: Change the order in which you mention the moves, also make sure to rewrite the point to reflect how it's both that singificantly benefit from Prankster. Can also write it in the umbrella of disruption as preventing certain moves, just make sure it doesn't drag.
  • Moonblast: Saying it's Whimsi's "sole attacking move" with a definitive tone feels incorrect considering there's another move slashed with it. Also, put more content in the line, something like applying chip damage or someth lol
  • Give Fake Tears its own line, it's slashed behind two moves there.

OO
  • HH can be redundant with Fake Tears when it comes to Special Attackers

AM Check!! Good work here

[OVERVIEW]
  • "Whimiscott is also defensively utility, as its typing allows it to switch in on the likes of Rillaboom, Zygarde, and Urshifu-R, although its poor defenses makes this risky" Probably needs rewording to say Whismiscott is defensively utile by switching into the likes of Rillaboom, Zygarde, and Urshifu-R, however its poor bulk makes it unreliable. (condenses and makes sense in the beginning)
  • "Another flaw brought upon by its bulk is its increased weakness to Fake Out, which not only leaves it open to attack, but also prevents the use of Prankster moves " fluff, you have protect on the set already with it mostly being self explanatory and an issue in double in general
  • "This same bulk means Whimsicott has trouble setting Tailwind multiple times, as it would ether need to stay on the field and risk opening itself up to attack, or it would need to switch in, which is made extremely difficult by its poor typing in conjunction with its bulk" A lot of fluff here imo, could be simpler by stating that "the aforementioned poor bulk thwarts it from setting up Tailwind throughout the game" rest can be cut as its repeated or self explanatory
  • Mention Prankster Tailwind Torn as competition and what whimsicott can do over it since its rather limiting to only rain and very niche, but both have close-ish roles.
  • " Whimsicott faces competition from other Tailwind setters such as Naganadel and Mew" - what makes you use Whims over these?
    [SET COMMENTS]
  • Fake tears target could add Kyurem-B there since -2 Earth Power and Eruption OHKOs non AV Kyurem which is extremely good for whimsicott as it can allow it function without the pressure of being OHKO'D. AV Kyurem takes around 90% meaning SRock chip is good support from Lando

[OVERVIEW]
  • There's an important perk of Prankster Tailwind over other (fast) setters that should be mentioned, which is being able to reliably set when the opponent already has speed control up.
  • When saying Whimsicott struggles against Fire-types, give Incineroar as an example. Mentioning that it's immune to Prankster too (since it's a Dark-type) is probably unnecessary/doesn't fit.
  • Whimsicott's "defensive utility" definitely needs to be qualified with a "limited".
  • "Another flaw brought upon by its bulk is its increased weakness to Fake Out, which not only leaves it open to attack, but also prevents the use of Prankster moves." - remove this line, it's fluff.
  • There should be a point about struggling against teams with Tsareena/Psychic Terrain since they block most Prankster moves, besides Tailwind.
[SET COMMENTS]
  • Mention Fake Out as an Encore target.
  • Saying that Focus Sash lets it get an Encore off specifically is weird since that's not a main slash, I'd probably generalise it to "a support move" instead.
  • Tornadus is too niche to mention IMO, and unneeded.
Good job, QC 2/2.
