Set Description

By utilizing the combination of Whirlpool, Nature's Madness, and Taunt, Tapu Fini becomes an incredibly dangerous stallbreaker that can trap bulky Pokemon like Toxapex, Blissey, Clefable, Slowbro, and Slowking, stop them from healing, and force their removal from the game. Nature's Madness also has the benefit of punishing checks like Melmetal and Ferrothorn with heavy chip damage should they attempt to come in and force Tapu Fini out. Moonblast rounds out the moveset, allowing Tapu Fini to finish off these bulky Pokemon after putting them within KO range and check Dragapult, Garchomp, and Urshifu-R. The given EV spread allows Tapu Fini to avoid a 2HKO from Modest Choice Specs Dragapult's Shadow Ball after Stealth Rock and outpace Adamant Tyranitar, while the rest of its EVs are dumped into HP and Defense. Leftovers is necessary to extend Tapu Fini's longevity, allowing it to continue sticking around to handle the aforementioned targets.

This Tapu Fini set is a valuable asset on offense and bulky offense teams, where it is tasked with breaking holes open and forcibly removing bulky targets for the benefit of its wallbreaking and sweeping teammates. Blacephalon and Volcarona greatly benefit from the removal of Blissey and forcing out Dragapult and Urshifu-R; the former becomes a much more menacing wallbreaking threat, while the latter sweeps through and cleans up the opposition without much standing in its way. Kartana benefits from Tapu Fini's Misty Terrain shielding it from Scald burns from Toxapex and Slowbro and paralysis from Zapdos's Static ability, letting it pressure these Pokemon without much fear. Swords Dance Kartana is a notable case, as Tapu Fini weakening Ferrothorn with Nature's Madness allows it to take advantage of the setup opportunities provided, while Ferrothorn cannot do much back in return.
