Choice Specs Whiscash acts as a powerful wallbreaker that can threaten many common Pokemon, such as Klang, Cufant, and Hippopotas. Ice Beam provides very crucial coverage to hit Grass-types, like Ivysaur, Dartrix, and Maractus, and Dragon-types like Zweilous and Drakloak. Scald is a more reliable option than Hydro Pump that also comes with a chance to burn the opposing Pokemon; however, keep in mind that Hydro Pump will OHKO many Pokemon that Scald fails to, like Persian and Galarian Linoone. Toxic can also be used to cripple Pokemon that might look to switch in to Whiscash's STAB attacks, like Lickitung, Shedinja, and Gourgeist-L. Oblivious can be used to hide what set Whiscash is using while also preventing Toxic variants from getting Taunted, while Anticipation allows Whiscash to scout for Grass-type coverage on Pokemon like Shiinotic and Gourgeist-L.
Choice Specs Whiscash is to be used as an early- and mid-game wallbreaker that proves to be hard for many teams to switch into. Pokemon that look to clean up late-game, such as Swords Dance Silvally-Ice and Shell Smash Wartortle, appreciate Whiscash breaking down the opposition for them. Silvally-Ice, in particular has no issues with Lickitung, which completely walls Whiscash, and can also bust through Dusclops, which is another Pokemon that deals with Whiscash. Good answers to the aforementioned Grass-types are appreciated, as Whiscash will not OHKO many of the bulkier ones, such as Ivysaur and Gloom, and they can come in on Hydro Pump fairly easily. This can include an offensive Pokemon that can deal with the Grass-types easily, like Farfetch'd or Belly Drum Eiscue, or a defensive answer to them, like Klang.

Dragon Dance Whiscash is an interesting late-game sweeper thanks to its decent coverage and power. Oblivious blocks Intimidate from the likes of Torracat and Krokorok if they try to weaken Whiscash for their teammates, as well as allowing Whiscash to set up on Taunt users such as Galarian Linoone. Substitute can generate easy setup opportunities in front of passive Pokemon like Klang and Corsola. Ice Beam is good to at least put pressure on some Grass-types, like Gourgeist-L and Dartrix. Toxic, on the other hand, can be used to cripple Pokemon like Shedinja and Shiinotic that can take Whiscash's STAB moves easily. Life Orb is used to give Whiscash as much power as possible, while a Jolly nature allows Whiscash to outrun Galarian Mr. Mime and Adamant Persian after one Dragon Dance. Leftovers is a potential option to increase Whiscash's longevity, and it has great synergy with Substitute, but the power drop is extremely noticeable. Having 29 HP IVs makes Whiscash take less damage from Life Orb.
Dragon Dance Whiscash requires significant support to sweep, as its power and Speed can both leave something to be desired at times. Whiscash despises bulky Grass-types like Ivysaur, Shiinotic, and Gloom, which can take a hit and OHKO it in return. Answers to these Grass-types, like Silvally-Ice, Galarian Mr. Mime, and Farfetch'd, are good options in this regard, and the former two appreciate Whiscash taking advantage of Klang. Other powerful wallbreakers, like Oranguru and Machoke, can help soften up the opposition so Whiscash can clean up late-game. Bulky Water-types are another hindrance to Dragon Dance Whiscash, as Pokemon like Pyukumuku and Wartortle can take advantage of it. Ways to break past them, like Gourgeist-L and Maractus, are appreciated as a result. Whiscash is also relatively slow even after a Dragon Dance and can be revenge killed by many faster Pokemon. Look to remove faster Pokemon like Persian, Choice Scarf Galarian Mr. Mime, and Toxic Orb Galarian Linoone before setting up.
