I have been testing a team on Shoddy lately that has given me some nice results, although I think it could need some help.
Please note that this team is for standard, not suspect.
Without further ado, the team:
Team at a glance:
Team at a detail:
The Lead:
Metaphail (Metagross) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/6 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Explosion
- Trick
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
TrickScarf Meta is my lead, and boy it has worked well. The plan is this: Trick a Scarf into something, set up SR and explode. Mash is for basic attacking later in the game.
---
The physical sweeper:
Trapped Under Ice (Mamoswine) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Mamoswine is my physical sweeper. With a Choice Band, it can deal loads of damage. Ice Shard makes a good priority move, fixing his average speed and killing the standard Mence, Flygon and Altaria with Ice Shard. Superpower is for Bronzong, who otherwise totally walls Mamoswine. Stone Edge gives a little more power against flyers and EQ is there for good STAB.
---
The Special Sweeper:
BAM UR DEAD (Salamence) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 12 Atk/240 SAtk/252 Spd
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Flamethrower
- Brick Break
Panamaxis has recommended this Salamence and it seems to fit very well in this team. I have Brick Break for a way to kill Bliss and T-Tar without being locked into Outrage. Draco Meteor still deals loads of damage to switch-ins, Outrage helps me to clean up and Flamethrower is for steels.

The counter:
Quack? (Porygon2) @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
This duck is simply amazing. Makes an excellent Heatran, Salamence and the best Gyarados counter in the game, and can also trap Dugtrio. Ice Beam and T-Bolt for Bolt-Beam coverage, T-Wave for sure paralysis and Recover for...well, recovering.
---
The physical wall:
Nidowin (Nidoqueen) (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/40 Spd
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Flamethrower
- Roar
- Ice Beam
An extremly underrated but powerful physical wall. Makes a good Scizor, Heracross, Machamp, Breloom and non-Ice Punch Lucario counter. Roar is there because I needed a Phazer, and Nidoqueen was the perfect candidate. Ice Beam helps against Gliscor and dragons, and Flamethrower is there for Scizor, Forry, Skarm and Bronzong.
---
The Revenge Killer:
Fight Fire with Fire (Heatran) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Explosion
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
CS standard Heatran, recommended by panamaxis. Fire Blast>Flamethrower for the OHKO on Gengar. HP Grass is there for Swampert, Quagsire and Gastrodon. Earth Power kills grounds and fires, and Explosion is for taking Bliss down. Heatran also patches my Gengar and Electivire weakness.
Changes in BOLD.
