Who doesn't love a Hail storm?

Well, I'm back to competitive battling, and since Garchomp is gone, time to go back to square one. I made a Hail Stall team and then it sort of evolved into a nice Hax team inspired by Sandhax. It's fun and nicely unstable.

Abomasnow (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Blizzard
- Grass Knot

Hail starter. I went with SubSeed because it really only seemed like the only possible useable set for a lead. I can't see a Choicer and I'm not fond to Sweeper leads.

Glaceon (M) @ Brightpowder
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 128 HP/252 Spd/128 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Fake Tears
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Ice Beam
- Wish

My Special Sweeper. Note for the rest of this thread: All Pokemon that can gain Evasiveness due to Hail have and always will have a Brightpowder, just for Haxxyness. Fake Tears for a fun drop in Special Defense, to open up for HP Fighting, a good counter for some weaknesses and STAB on Ice Beam. Wish is for great KO healing and a nice way to heal himself.

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/164 Def/88 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Will-o-wisp
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball

Well, I've never used one of these, but it seemed like a good idea. This is a Scizor counter because my entire team is very VERY weak to it. Kinda like the Double Status with the Standard. Double STAB+Weakness with Shadow Ball and Overheat. Thunder Wave likes this team(3 Pokemon with it FTW) and Will-O-Wisp for nice change in status.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/40 SAtk/216 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
- Toxic

Big fat wall. And my team crumbles to status. So basically, it's a nice Cleric that can double as a wall. It works well, with Toxic as a status and Softboiled for healing and Seismic Toss to round it out.

Froslass (F) @ Brightpowder
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray
- Ice Beam

I really don't know how this Pokemon succeeds. Confusion is fun, doubles the hax. Then I can set up a sub and throw around static, inducing Paralysis and then Ice Beam for good STAB. It can always hit in first and is just a fun Pokemon.

Mamoswine (M) @ Brightpowder
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Ice Fang

Physical Sweeper. Completely all out, absolute sweep. Helps hax with Powder+Cloak and then the Standard set. Not much to say here.

Well, it's just starting, but it can go places fast.

I've made a Hail team before, and I discovered there are two absolute necessities on a Hail Team. Firstly, replace every single Ice Beam slot with Blizzard. Blizzard becomes 100% accurate in Hail, and boasts a hefty power increase from Ice Beam.

Secondly, all Hail teams need the deadly Stallrein, which is capable of stalling out entire teams (I can contribute quite a few logs where I stalled out an opponent's team 6-0). This is the legendary Stallrein:

Walrein@ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 220 HP/244 Def/46 SpD
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Protect
- Roar
- Surf

The strategy goes like this: Use Substitute to lose 104 HP. Then, Protect on the next turn, gaining 28 HP from Lefties and 28 from Ice Body. On the next turn, either Surf or pseudo-haze with Roar. You will again gain 28 HP thanks to Lefties and 28 HP thanks to Ice Body. 28 + 28 + 28 +28 = ? 112. Guess what? You have more HP than when you started. This allows for 32 turns of Hail stall, which guarantees two fainted Pokemon on the opponent's team (without Leftovers).

This strategy receives a huge boost when used in conjunction with Toxic Spikes, as while you are stalling their HP gets down much faster. Try Tentacruel, it's a good Toxic Spiker and can Knock Off and Rapin Spin as well. I recommend dropping Blissey as its tanking ability is hampered by Hail.

Hope I helped.

walerins not that good without toxic spikes so if you add walerin make sure to add tentacruel too for countering mix infernape and toxic spikes and rapid spinning.

I had a Stallrein on my team at one point, but this isn't a hailstall team. You realize that you can have Hail teams which stall, and use a Stallrein, or you could have an offensive Hail team using Snow Cloak for easier sweep. This team does the second one.

So, a Stallrein isn't needed.

But blizzard is. Hefty base power increase over ice beam and like first responder, 100% accurate in hail. Looking at your team, the only reasons you have for hail is to use snow cloak and get 1/16th hail damage. The reason to use weather teams is to use them to your benefit so why NOT use blizzard?
