Alright, so I love Mega Pinsir. I've been using a team built around him for about three weeks now and I've made it up to about the mid 1300s...I know that's not that great but for someone like me, I'll take it!
So last time I checked, my GXE was at 59.
So here's my team:
Weavile (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick
Weavile is one of the best sweepers in the game. Weavile takes care of all flying types with ice shard and icicle crash. Knock off is arguably the best move in the game (Knock off > scald). Low kick is there for Heatrans or for Bisharp switch ins. Pretty standard set!
Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Knock Off
I know Lando-T isn't the greatest pivot for it works for me. He's often a lead as I can u-turn out if I need to or knock off if the timing is appropriate. Earthquake is there for STAB (but I really never find myself using it). Stone edge takes care of Charizard and all Pokemon that I can't hit with earthquake.
Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Defog
Life Orb Latios with Draco Meteor is simply too much power to pass on. Psyshock is there for STAB. HP Fire is there for the element of surprise. I picked HP fire over roost solely because I love catching Bisharps and Ferrothorns off guard. And of course, defog. With a Mega Pinsir team, I've been told YOU HAVE TO HAVE A DEFOGGER! However, I really don't find myself using it all that much. My theory is if I have Mega Pinsir in and I'm setting up, he's staying it. It's usually late game so I won't be switching out. But, I guess you haaaaaaaaaaaaaave to have defog.
Manaphy @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball
Originally I was running leftovers with Manaphy but I decided that because the only thing that really kills this thing is Rotom-W and Raikou that I use wacan berry because not too many people run that item out there. Other than that, very standard tail glow set here.
Pinsir (M) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Close Combat
- Quick Attack
Here's the star of the show: Mega Pinsir. Standard set here. Once I get one swords dance up, good luck. This thing is a monster and is the best mega in the game.
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
Heatran is my rocks setter along with my immunity to fire type moves. I originally had stone edge over flash cannon but decided that I was having major problems with fairies like Clefable that I needed to address that issue. So I added flash cannon.
**Conclusion**
- I find myself struggling against Mega Manectric.
- Mega Lopunny is a threat...but it will always be a threat.
Thoughts?
