ORAS OU Why isn't Mega Pinsir banned?

Alright, so I love Mega Pinsir. I've been using a team built around him for about three weeks now and I've made it up to about the mid 1300s...I know that's not that great but for someone like me, I'll take it!

So last time I checked, my GXE was at 59.

So here's my team:

Weavile (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

Weavile is one of the best sweepers in the game. Weavile takes care of all flying types with ice shard and icicle crash. Knock off is arguably the best move in the game (Knock off > scald). Low kick is there for Heatrans or for Bisharp switch ins. Pretty standard set!

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Knock Off

I know Lando-T isn't the greatest pivot for it works for me. He's often a lead as I can u-turn out if I need to or knock off if the timing is appropriate. Earthquake is there for STAB (but I really never find myself using it). Stone edge takes care of Charizard and all Pokemon that I can't hit with earthquake.

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Defog

Life Orb Latios with Draco Meteor is simply too much power to pass on. Psyshock is there for STAB. HP Fire is there for the element of surprise. I picked HP fire over roost solely because I love catching Bisharps and Ferrothorns off guard. And of course, defog. With a Mega Pinsir team, I've been told YOU HAVE TO HAVE A DEFOGGER! However, I really don't find myself using it all that much. My theory is if I have Mega Pinsir in and I'm setting up, he's staying it. It's usually late game so I won't be switching out. But, I guess you haaaaaaaaaaaaaave to have defog.

Manaphy @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Originally I was running leftovers with Manaphy but I decided that because the only thing that really kills this thing is Rotom-W and Raikou that I use wacan berry because not too many people run that item out there. Other than that, very standard tail glow set here.

Pinsir (M) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Close Combat
- Quick Attack

Here's the star of the show: Mega Pinsir. Standard set here. Once I get one swords dance up, good luck. This thing is a monster and is the best mega in the game.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon

Heatran is my rocks setter along with my immunity to fire type moves. I originally had stone edge over flash cannon but decided that I was having major problems with fairies like Clefable that I needed to address that issue. So I added flash cannon.

**Conclusion**

- I find myself struggling against Mega Manectric.

- Mega Lopunny is a threat...but it will always be a threat.

Thoughts?

Hi

Not too much should be changed here, since most of Mega Pinsir builds are similar, some minor changes will be enough.

Since Fast Electric types can be troublesome for this team, I'd suggest running Latias>Latios because of her higher bulk she can avoid a 2HKO from Life Orb Thundurus-I HP Ice, thus avoiding it from paralyzing all the team and peventing Manectric from sweeping if lando is out, Healing Wish can give either Manaphy or Pinsir a second chance to sweep, but Roost makes it better electric check.

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish / Roost

Mega Lopunny and Talonflame can be huge threats, the first just needs Landorus out of game while the latter only wants Heatran out, so I'd suggest changing Landorus spread to the Defensive Pivot set, the Scarf set is somewhat redundant with Weavile already handling offensive builds pretty well, also, this team also needs a glue to avoid getting swept by the myriad of physical attackers out there, I prefer the Rocky Helmet because this set can be weak so the chip damage helps a lot, this set also gives you a better sand offense check.

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

Last Heatran is not needed at all since this team already has Manaphy, Latias and even Landorus to some extent help to deal with fire types, Manaphy is a big threat because the team lacks a solid way to deal with it, as well, the team needs a solid pivot and a way to dealt better with offensive water types, running Raikou>Heatran should alleviate that, it also serves as a secondary check to Mega Charizard Y and Keldeo because Latias can get overwhelmed, Gyarados is particulary troublesome since it can 6-0 this team if it gets to +2, having Raikou on the field should put enough pressure on it to avoid setting up, worst case scenario you could attempt to burn it with Scald or revenge killing it with Pinsir, running Keldeo, Magnezone or Breloom wont help because it will only make Mega Manectric and Talonflame more troublesome than before, speaking of Talonflame, Raikou can be an emergency check if it didin't set up any SD, this can be crucial if you need landorus to wall another threat, I prefer Zap Plate because AV is pretty weak and it somewhat compensates the lack of Calm Mind on this set without worning down Raikou. (hint: Raikou is a pivot, never run a Life Orb)

Raikou @ Zap Plate / Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Ice
- Shadow Ball

That's all, I hope it helps n_n

Changes in short:
  • 380.png

    381.png
Offensive Support Latias over current Latios
  • 645-s.png
Bulky Pivot Set over Scarf Pivot Set

Either Assault Vest or Zap Plate pivot Raikou over Offensive Heatran

Okay sooo, I came up with this. http://pastebin.com/FEd0jyNR

Manaphy->Rotom-W. Manaphy is powerful but it really doesn't get much of a chance to set up and sweep from testing. Also, the team kinda gets 6-0d by sand offense and really has no good way to deal with azumarill. Rotom-W also helps deal with bird spam and is a much needed pivot/lead.

Keldeo->Lando T so bisharp and weavile don't 6-0. Also OHKOs Lopunny and revenge kills fast stuff.

Changed latios->latias as discussed before.

Stallbreaker tran beats fairies, stall, and can wear down Rotom-W on the switch with toxic so pinsir can sweep later.

Love the team and concept overall =)

Hello SwampBlast !

Unfortunately, this RMT is currently not following the rules which can be found in the RMT Resource Thread; specifically, this thread violates rule #6, because you are only allowed to post one RMT every two weeks. As such, I am afraid that I will have to lock this thread for the time being. If you would like this thread to be reopened, feel free to PM me after the two-week period has expired, and I would be happy to reopen this thread for you. For further clarification regarding the rules, I recommend that you carefully read the RMT Resource Thread.

Good luck with your team, and have a nice day!
