For the month of January, the world was dominated by Scizors. There was a Scizor every other battle. However, I believe that they are overrated and are easily outclassed by almost all of the other top sweepers. First of all, it has an atrocious speed, and never attacks first. It also sports a 4x fire weakness, one that can be easily exploited by many enemies. Also, it has no way to counter this, as it has the aforementioned low speed. Salamence is aable to overcome his Ice weakness, but only because of base 100 speed. His main move, Bullet Punch, is steel type, a horrible attacking type, and U-Turn/X-Scissor is the worst attack type in the game. These are a huge downfalls to any sweeper. Lets take a look at January's Top 10.
1. Scizor
2. Salamence
3. Heatran
4. Gyrados
5. Metagross
6. Infernape
7. Tyranitar
8. Blissey
9. Swampert
10. Lucario
Now Scizor is first here. Lets compare him to the rest of the Top 15:
All these scenarios assume that the battle is 1 on 1 and neither Pokemon switch out.
Salamence
Okay, first turn:

Scizor: ... wtf
Scizor = 1/10
Now if you want a powerful SD sweeper, be it late game or mid-game, I recommend Lucario, who, as above, was able to OHKO a Scizor. Hard-core Scizor fans may argue that a Technician Bullet Punch makes up for it, but almost all of the above Pokemon resist it, and those who dont are slower that Scizor anyway, so it becomes rather useless.
However, I still agree that Scizor is a solid sweeper. I would even go as far as saying that he is one of the best. But I would rather take a variety of other sweepers over him. Remember, 130 Base Attack is never something that you should underestimate. And if you arent careful, Scizor could sweep your whole team (while overall, quite unlikely)

OVERALL: 1/10 wins
So, as you can see, Scizor can only defeat 1 of these Pokemon 1 on 1, and that would be Tyranitar, and only because of a x4 Superpower.
