Why so Blue?
Sh*tty team, I know. But it's my first UU team in a long time and I have won quite a few games with it! And no, all of the pokemon chosen just happened to be blue, it was not intentional. It's pretty strange how it all worked out though.
Teambuilding:Sh*tty team, I know. But it's my first UU team in a long time and I have won quite a few games with it! And no, all of the pokemon chosen just happened to be blue, it was not intentional. It's pretty strange how it all worked out though.
I wanted to start out with something original, and boy was this offensive core original! This core provides a stealth rock/explosion user, which can take out 1 or more of the opposing teams pokemon, a set up sweeper that can have insane speed and attack, and a ditto; my favorite revenge killer/pokemon of all time. It may not look like it could do much, but this core can put in work.
The next step to my offensive core was adding a wallbreaker, hydreigon filled this possition better then any other pokemon out there. But with a dragon type, I felt like I needed more of a type core. I didn't go all the way but I ended up using shaymin for more offensive coverage. (I'll get more into it in the detailed anylasis)
It was at this point where I had no idea what to put in. My inital thought was to put in chandelure as a calm mind user that could also form a fire/water/grass core, but it would I needed something to clear hazards, and switch into offensive threats. I had no idea what to put to fill this possition and for a little while I used cosmic power sigilyph. (I'm so sorry) Later on, I felt the need for a steel type, which got me using the pokemon I still use to this day...
I chose empoleon for its amazing ability to set up rocks when azelf fails, get rid of hazards before it can really effect my team, and switch into the offensive threats that so often sweep my team. It didn't form a type core of any kind, but it certainly puts in a good amount of work when it comes to keeping my other pokemon alive and well. Anyways, onto the in deph anylasis.
The Lead
Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Flamethrower
- Explosion
When I started my team out, I wanted to make it with pokemon that I loved playing with competitivly, whether they where viable in UU or not. On the surface, it looks like its to set up rocks, but what I really use this for is to block other leads from setting up. One example being that I have flamethrower over knock off for forretress and taunt for... well everything that tries to set up rocks. It also works amazing as a death fodder, or a pokemon to stop other pokemon from setting up and sweeping. And, if I just expload! Regardless of the situation, it lets me switch in without any threat.
The Setup Sweeper
Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
If it's not already obvious enough, swampert is my set-up sweeper. The EV's allow for it to take a hit, but with the rain set up still has a whopping 440 speed! And, it gets its increadible 430 attack to kill anything coming its way! Seriously, this thing is a monster even without other rain supported/supporting mons. It gets enough coverage to sweep entire teams if it needs to/wants to, and while I could just be using a normal set I have had way to much fun with this thing to switch it to bulky stealth rocks or something boring. Heres an example of a replay where he sweeps: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/uu-355795574
The Hard Hitting Special Attacker
Shaymin @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Psychic
- Rest
With shaymin on my team, the offensive aspect of my team is basically unstopable, as it seems to have the best coverage out of all of my pokemon, and without it alot of pokemon would easily wall my team. For example, swampert can wear all of my physical attackers with scald burns and empoleon just walls everything. Of corse, rest over synthesis because 1. rest + natural cure is godly, and 2. because mega swampert is a rain set, which can disrupt synthesis so it cant really recover.
The Wallbreaker
Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Superpower
- Roost
I wouldn't be able to get past 10 games without this guy! He's my second special attacker and first and only fighting type user. He's my awnser to alot of physical walls that take shaymins attacks easy. It does have to be switched out often, due to the stats being lowered by 2 of its moves, and any fairy type is an easy switch in, but if it's needed it can always be switched out by some of the supporting pokemon (Ditto, empoleon, azelf). Honestly, this thing is just amazing.
The Revenge Killer
Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA / 0 Spe
- Transform
Ditto is my favorite competitive pokemon of all time, thanks to "The Ditto Stall Squad". It's not even my first time using it! And it sure as hell puts in work on my team! Ditto counters so many set-up sweepers, offensive team archypes, even all-out attackers that can threaten my team! It identifies the threat and flips it around completely to demolish the enemy team! It can also put pressure on the opponent to negitivly effect there playstyle! The HP EV's are for taking less damage in stealth rock, and to save EVs to have 8 in attack, the attack EV's are for combatting other ditto's if it comes down to ditto vs ditto, and the attack EV's are to do more damage to other dittos in a struggle battle, and having 8 EV's makes up for only 30 IV's. The IV's are for HP fire, as only my suicide lead actually has fire coverage, and the 0 speed allows ditto to win in struggle battles against other dittos. Honestly, this thing is amazing if used correctly.
The Hazard Control
Empoleon @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
- Defog
Almost done! Empoleon is a great way to deal with hazards, both getting rid of them and stacking them at the same time! Roar helps phase, even though I don't really need it with ditto. If somebody can suggest a replacement move that would be wonderful. Of corse, I was getting absolutly destroyed by ground type moves as they where usually the only thing that could stop me from really putting in work. It's viable and it works!
Thanks so much for giving my team a rate! Have a nice day! And feel free to put some "blue" puns in your rate.
