WiFi Team, tested on shoddy. Needs some help!

Hey guys.

First of, like the title of this thread says, this is not meant to be a Shoddy Team. This team is designed to be used for Competitive battling for the DS. I tested it on shoddy because shoddy has better opponents (usually) and it takes less time to test. And i can change a lot of things very fast. Anyway, up to the team i guess.

EDITTEDNOTE: I'm thinking of replacing Vaporeon with Starmie and making Zapdos a sweeper set, then i have a sort of offensive team, aswell as a status absorber. I also need something to take fight moves when Zapdos is dead, because Brelooms gives me a lot of trouble and Lucario aswell. So if someone can suggest something i'd appreciate it alot :) A ghost type wouldn't hurt either, just to take the explosion.

The team:

metagross.png

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/236 Atk/12 Def/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Explosion
---
I think this is a pretty standard lead. SR the first time, its usually always guaranteed, as this Metagross does not die in 1 hit by other leads. Maybe with a crit or if they are banded/specsed. After that i have some decent options. Bullet Punch for Azelf and Aerodactyls, while Earthquake hurts Tyranitar alot. And when i'm about to die, Explode. It kills most pokemon pretty easy.

flygon.png

Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
---
Flygon is very underestimated and underlooked. This guy doesn't pack to much of power, but with the Scarf on, it makes it up with it's Speed! This guy hits 420 speed with a Scarf, outspeeding most pokemons that are not scarfed. U-Turn is the main move here, together with Scizor, it scouts the team of the opponent. Outrage is for a hurting STAB move. Earthquake is for pesky Steel Types and Stone Edge is there for Zapdos mainly. Flygon is so awesome :D

scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 32 HP/252 Atk/224 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Pursuit
---
Okay this is a common Scizor. Just like Flygon, it U-Turns to scout for counters, so i can retaliate :P Bullet Punch is just for STAB and kills a lot of pokemons that are faster than Scizor. I have a lot of problems with Blisseys, so thats why i opted for Superpower instead of Brick Break. Superpower OHKO's Blissey, while Brick Break does not (correct me if i'm wrong). Pursuit is there to kill Latias and other Ghost Types.

vaporeon.png

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/68 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Electric]
---
This is my sort of Mixed wall. It needs to take hits on both sides so yeah :P This is my Gyarados counter, and he does a good job. Wish is for team support aswell as healing himself. Protect is there to guarantee the Wish does its job and protect is there to scout. Hidden Power Electric for Gyarados, and Surf for STAB. Not much to say here.

zapdos.png

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 244 HP/228 Def/36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Discharge
- Roost
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Grass]
---
Zapdos is a pretty good Scizor counter, and i need something that can do that. So here's is Zapdos :) Zapdos is a pretty good pokemon. With Heat Wave it KO's Scizor pretty easily. Roost is there for recover, and Hidden Power Grass for Swampert and Hippowdon. Discharge for STAB. I opted for Discharge because it has more chance for a paralysis.

infernape.png

(Infernape) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Close Combat
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
---
I replaced Latias with Infernape. Infernape does very well in here. He revenge kills like crazy and threatens a lot of pokemons. I usually bring him late game, so he can kill my opponent of. Anyway, i've changed infernape for Latias because Latias didn't really have a purpose in this team, while Infernape is a good wall breaker and a good revenge killer. I think the moveset speaks for itself, Close Combat for STAB and for blissey. Flamethrower for STAB and all and just to kill of steel types and Grass types. Grass Knot is there for Hippowdon and Swampert, especially the latter 1. Hidden Power Ice is for flying types like Zapdos and Salamence, which could threaten my team.

Thats my team, i hope you like it. Any fixes and rates are appreciated. I won with this team quite often yesterday, but today i lost more than i won. Also, i know my team is very Rotom weak. And i mean the formes. But since you can't use them on WiFi, i don't really care!! Thnx in advance :D

Just to point out, Bullet Punch only 3HKOs Azelf so it will beat you if it has Fire Blast as even with Occa you're 2HKOed. You need Meteor Mash if you want to deal with these leads and due to how common Azelf leads are maybe put Meteor Mash over Earthquake or Explosion.

Zapdos' spread should be:252HP/220Def/36Spd. You may want to consider making it Offensivedos unless you've already got a HP Grass bold Zapdos on your DS so obviously it would be a pain to get another one:

Zapdos@Life Orb
Timid nature
Pressure
Evs-4HP/252Spd/252SAtk
-Roost
-Hidden Power Grass/Ice
-Heat Wave
-Thunderbolt
When used properly can hurt a lot while still being bulky and handling Scizor, HP Grass can be used for Swampert or HP Ice for Salamence and Flygon.

You say without Latias you cant switch into electric moves, but you have Flygon. As for replacing Latias, maybe a mixed sweeper like Salamence or Infernape, Lucario or making Latias more defensive so you can give stall a problem as I see you having a decent amount of trouble with stall. Here are the sets:

You could use the new or old MixMence
Salamence@Life Orb
Naive/Mild nature
Intimidate
EVs-16Atk/252Spd/240SAtk or 80Atk/176Spd/252SAtk
-Earthquake/Roost
-Fire Blast
-Outrage/Brick Break
-Draco Meteor
You could use Earthquake/FB/Outrage/DM with the niave nature making you at worst tie with other base 100s and always outspeed Lucario, however due to having to rely on Outrage to take out Blissey, you could use the Old MixMence with BB instead of Outrage and Roost instead of Earthquake as it takes on stall better due to not having to rely on Outrage and also has Roost which means it can stay alive longer.

or

Infernape@Life Orb
Naive nature
Blaze
Evs-64Atk/192Spd/252SAtk
-HP Ice
-Grass Knot
-Fire Blast
-Close Combat
Not as good as it used to be but still very good at dealing with stall, HP Ice can hit dragons but since its common now not many people will stay in. Grass Knot for Swampert, Hippowdon, etc. Fire Blast hits steels, Celebi and others while Close Combat for Blissey, Snorlax, Tyranitar, etc.

or

Lucario@Life Orb
Adamant nature
EVs-252Atk/4Def/252Spd
-Swords Dance
-Crunch
-ExtremeSpeed
-Close Combat
One of the best sweepers in Platinum and gives stall a big problem after a SD as usually only Hippowdon can survive most attacks. ExtremeSpeed gets rid of faster sweepers, Crunch for ghosts and Close Combat is just insanely powerful after a SD.

or

Latias@Leftovers
Timid nature
Levitate
EVs-108HP/252Spd/148SAtk
-Refresh
-Recover
-Calm Mind
-Dragon Pulse
Once steels are removed it can be deadly so if you use this you may want to put Magnezone in somewhere. Refresh clears status so Blissey and others cant stall it out.

Wow thnx for the big rate. I might try out Mixape and MixMence. Refresh is actually something i need on it. I get owned by status.

Umm Azelf with no HP/Def investment is 2HKO by Bullet not 3HKO I use an azelf and know my calcs and team like the back of my hand.

Refresh over CM on Latias as having access to clear status > Stat ups either way ur gonna get statused by a bliss or cress.

Discharge over T-Bolt as your Zappy looks like a support one. Nice 30% Para can come in handy.

Most CB Scizors carry max HP and max Atk I dont know wat those Spd Evs are for id go for the traditional max HP and Atk. Well Actually its
248HP and 252 Atk 8 Spe.

12 Def on meta into attack they're doing nothing there.

Alright team

GL

I got all EVs investments from Smogon's strategy dex. But yeah i might need a bulkier Scizor, though i like it to outspeed some pokes. I'll try what you said thnx :D

BUMP THIS. I was gone for 2 days but i still need help! I editted my team, changing Latias from Infernape. I'm also considering to make my team offensive, i need help!! I also want a ghost type >.<

Hey.

As I pointed out on IRC, the big problem here is a Ice Punch SD Lucario weakness, as pretty much your entire team is getting OHKOed by it without much hope of revenge killing. I can think of two possible fixes for that which don't deviate too much from what you currently have.
The first would be to make Infernape into a physically based MixApe with Close Combat/Stone Edge/Mach Punch/Overheat, as Mach Punch is almost always going to OHKO Lucario after a turn of Life Orb recoil. Doing that means that he is slightly less effective as a wall breaker, but it's still an effective enough set, and still beats/gets walled by the same pokemon on a stall team.
Alternatively, you could replace Flygon with a Rotom forme as your Choice Scarfer, as ghosts are immune to Extremespeed. A moveset of Trick/Thunderbolt/Shadow Ball/Overheat would be the way to go.
If neither of those appeal to you, it's possible to just ignore the Lucario weakness to an extent, and focus on playing around it, as Crunch is still by far the most popular choice for the moment.

Lucario weakness aside, the team looks fairly solid, there's just a few small tweaks that would improve it.

Flygon should run max speed if you decide to keep it, as the additional HP doesn't do all that much imo, and being guarentee tying with +1 base 100s as the worst case scenario is extremely useful a lot of the time.
A Jolly nature is generally better than Adamant as well in my experience, for the same reasons as with the EV spread. The loss of power isn't idea, but Flygon still manages the vast majority of the KOs that you need from it.

I would run an EV spread of 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spe on Scizor, which is generally far more effective on the Choice Band set. The speed is unimportant a lot of the time, as you don't really outspeed anything particularly important with those EVs, and the added bulk helps a lot in using U-turn to weaken counters.

Infernape should use Fire Blast over Flamethrower should you keep the specially based set, as the additional power is extremely useful in reaching a number of OHKO/2HKOs that you miss out on otherwise. For example, Salamence is 2HKOed by LO Fire Blast + Stealth Rock damage, meaning that HP Ice is unnecesarry. Without the requirement of HP Ice for Salamence, you could consider using HP Electric, which lets you break through stall teams more reliably, as I can see you struggling to take out RestTalk Gyarados + Blissey reliably. Grass Knot still beats Gyarados, but it requires predicting the switch in and using Grass Knot, as it's a 2HKO rather than a OHKO, so it's a question of confidence and reliability.

Otherwise, this doesn't look like it should have too many problems. Good luck.

Hey man thnx for your reply. Right now i am on my PSP so i can't say to much. Lucario is a threat. The idea of using a physical infernape is good. i can't use rotom formes because this is a wifi team. i'll edit my post later, typing on a PSP takes long lol:p
