Winter is coming! (Hail team)

Hi there,
I decided to run Hail team, because of it's potential.
As most of you knows Blizzard gets nevermiss acuraccy under hail!

So there is it...

Firstly I decided to run Abomasnow... who would expect it? Abomasnow in hail? Am I kidding?

Then I choosed this sweet Pokémon. Not because she is sweet, but because she has good movepool and speed and thanks to her typing, he block rapid spin and set up spikes... isn't she beautiful?

Okay, after choosing relative good spiker, I must choose also rapid spinner. I decided for Tentacruel, he has good typing and average stats. Thanks to his typing he can stop Infernape. Threat of Hail team.

My next choice was Black Kyurem. He is in OU, what is useful, but honestly I have tried many Pokémon before choosing him (Choice Scarf Rotom, Choice Scarf Nidoking...), but their weakness lies in their speed. Black Kyurem has base speed 95, which isn't so bad, is it?

Then I run Mamoswine. He would be good Stealth Rock abuser, but I decided to run him as All-Out-Attacker... I think my choice wasn't bad... but I am not really sure about this Pokémon... He is powerful and bulky, but he doesn't get any advantage in hail (only Snow Cloak, but it is usually banned...).

My last Pokémon became Gallade. He also doesn't get any boost from hailstorm, but he is very good Pokémon to have. I must admit I like him so much, usually I am winning thanks to this RU Pokémon. And why? Opponent usually wants to spin away Spikes, in that moments he sents out Rapid Spinner and my Gallade has enough time to use Substitute and at least one Bulk Up... then... the sweep came! He is good with Froslass because he is faster then and with some luck he stays long time under Sub.

Yeti (Abomasnow) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SDef / 248 HP / 8 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
My choice of Abomasnow was to play him as Special Defender. Why? Because he works well against Politoed and almost everytime he has chance to use Leech Seed. Usually he puts itself into Substitute and then he can set at least Leech Seed before switching (if opponent sent out someone who Abomasnow cannot take down). He usually works well against all Pokémon in Rain Team... Politoed has no chance...

Frostie (Froslass) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Destiny Bond
- Thunder Wave
- Taunt
I am not so sure about this Pokémon. But I must admit his Ghost type is useful. Thunder Wave is good attack, it can slow down opponent's Pokémon and that is really useful. Spikes are surely best choice of move to have there and Destiny Bond isn't bad as it can take down anyone slower who would kill her. Taunt is to prohibite Spikes and Stealth Rocks. Her main weakness lies in Gyro Balls, but everybody is weak for something...
Cursed Body is also very useful ability as it can give me more time to set up spikes.

Beast (Kyurem-Black) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Blizzard
- Fusion Bolt
My Blizzard abuser became physical attack based Pokémon. Funny. But he works well. Maybe I shouldn't play Outrage because I don't like to lock myself in one attack and I am not playing it on other Pokémon, but Kyurem is so powerful and even when opponent resist it, it does terrifying damage.
Dragon Claw is main STAB and Fusion Bolt is another usable attack.
Blizzard is here because of hail... I think it doesn't need any commentary.

Mamo (Mamoswine) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
This is my second Pokémon, where I am not sure of using it. But thats only because it is another Ice Pokémon and hail doesn't give him any boost.
But he works well. At first I was using Life Orb, but as time went, I decided to run him with Leftovers, because I usually died because of Life Orb, not opponent's attack. And that was sad...
Now he is very good!

Squidward (Tentacruel) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 4 SDef / 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Knock Off
- Blizzard
- Rapid Spin
Okay, this Pokémon is clear. Toxic Spikes is best move after Rapid Spin.
Knock Off is interesting move. I always laught when opponent have this move, but I must admit, it is amazing attack!
At first I played Scald, but then I changed it to Blizzard. I am not sure what is better.
I think you will be confused of its ability. But Rain Dish is useless, because Rain Team are easy to take down with Abomasnow and others... I don't see any good reason of playing it over Liquid Ooze, what can help against Ferrothorn and other Leech Seed abusers. It is also good against Horn Leech and Conkeldur's Drain Punch (because he usually has only Drain Punch and Ice Punch).

Mastermind (Gallade) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Shadow Sneak
I think you will not like my Gallade, because lot of people does not.
But he can win game. It needs some predict, yeah, but he turns into beast (I don't mean my Kyurem now) and starts to kill everything.
Substitute is good move as it can prevent status, Intimidates and other unfair attacks. :D
I usually use two or three Bulk Ups (depends on situation, resp. Gallade's HP).
And then Drain Punch, it heals Gallade and there is no reason for playing Close Combat on Bulk Up set (there is a lot of reason to not play it).
I used to play Ice Punch... but I think Shadow Sneak is better, because if I am at low HP I cannot do anything... it is great against Alakazam and Gengar...

I hope you enjoyed my team.
Please comment it and rate it.

(I know it is unusual team, but it is great, isn't it? Opponent usually has never seen similar strategy)

This is a pretty solid team. It's great that there are people in OU that use hail teams, and keep it creative.

-I suggest Choice Band > Leftovers for Mamoswine. While it gives up Mamo's chance of having more options in battle, it exchanges it for more power; it turns into an excellent wallbreaker/revenge killer with Ice Shard. With Leftovers, it doesn't give Mamo that power boost that is necessary to be more threatening, and since the Life Orb recoil is undesirable, Choice Band is the next best thing.

-Next, I suggest Rock Polish Landorus-T over Gallade. Your team has a stinging weakness to Terrakion/Heatran, or basically any Fighting- or Fire-type Pokemon in OU, including physical attackers. Landorus-T not only has Intimidate to make Terrakion and opposing physical threats, he can set up Rock Polish, and display a great late game sweep. To be honest, while Gallade has better Special Defense bulk than Landorus-T, Gallade lacks the speed and raw power to handle those other threats. Here is the set I recommend for Landorus-T:

645-therian.png

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Naughty Nature
- Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Ice]

This set will also help against Steel-types, notably Jirachi and Magnezone. EdgeQuake is an excellent combo, providing nearly perfect coverage. Hidden Power Ice to go against other Dragon- or Ground-types, though, you have them covered, so you could use Explosion/U-Turn in the last moveslot if you wish.

That's all I have for your team; it's solidly built, and we don't want to mess with the synergy/strategies you have created. Hopefully I have helped; good luck with the team in the future! :)

Why 252 Spd? I think 180 is enough, isn't it? As it reaches awesome 526 Speed after Rock Polish, which outspeeds everything, including latios @ Scarf

But thanks for your idea. I will test it and I will send there result :)

Yeah, my mistake ^^; It should be 180, the rest could go to another stat.

I have tried it, but It doesn't work better, Gallade is Stall Breaker and he can take down Ferrothorn and other threats, but Landorus will not hurt Ferrothorn well and he can be taken down by Gyro Ball or at least have Leech Seed on it.
Also, Terrakion isn't threat in my team, he can be easily stopped by Froslass or Tentacruel.
I can at least Paralyze him, then he can be taken down by Gallade, when Gallade will have some bulk from Bulk Up and possibly Substitute.
Magnezone and Jirachi are also NOT threat. They are both killed by Gallade.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 180 Spd / 252 Atk / 76 HP
Naughty Nature
- Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Ice]

So, I am sorry, but with that change, I had worst score than before.

:< My apologies for not being able to help out your team. It's really good, nonetheless.

Maybe try Prankster Sableye in place of Froslass and put SR on somebody else? He fills the same roles as Froslass but has recovery in Recover and can attack with Foul Play, he isn't the sturdiest though.

While I can't think of any fixes to this issue, how does your team deal with Choice Scarf Jirachi? It would seem with some flinchax, it could actually sweep your team with iron head if gallade can be hit hard enough before it begins flinching.

Breloom also looks to be a very big issue if it can spore tentacruel on the switch, as you'd have to score a destiny bond kill against it with froslass otherwise.

first of all hello aelsom ^.^ this is a cool team but really i see some deadly problems againist terrakion, ferrothorn and choice scarf jirachi. I think that stone edge kill your team and EQ of rakion is strong enought to hit hard tentacruel and all of your team. I suggest run hp fire with kyurem-b over dragon claw, even if you use dragon claw you are locked in that move, and rock polish lando-t should work really good for you like governess say. I think you should use superpower on mamo instead of stone edge, the flyings are killed by ice, stab moves and with superpower you can kill an damaged ferro. oh yes if mamo is Dead scarftios is a problem too, i think you should put a scizor CB that help you from dragons sweep cuz nobody rexist a dragon move. I wish i was helpful, and good luck for your team
